1. At last !! justice will be served :)
fadi ,   lebanon   (10.30.06)
2. Uranium
Uri ,   Australia   (10.30.06)
Highly penetrating bombs, rackets or shels, are made with an uranium content to increase their penetrating force. Is used uranium 238 which is not radioactive but because is a rest of the enrichment process, may contain very small quantities of uranium 235. Because of the rests of U235 the radioactivity is present on a very low scale. These wapons have been used in Irak in 1991, as well in 2003. They were used by NATO in Bosnia and they are considered conventional wapons. So, what the big deal if Israel used them? For deep fortified bunkers, what should they use? Demolition subcontractors?
3. we won the DIVINE VICTORY. Now we cry like women.
H. Nasrallah ,   Beirut, Syria   (10.30.06)
4. Misleading image
(10.30.06)
Your image (main page) is misleading. The black smoke in that image was caused by a cartire fire that started when a Zilzal rocket launcher was hit by the IDF and the rocket was launched and backfired into this garbage dump. Maybe that Hezbollah Zilzal was uranium-loaded? I heard Iran lately had a lot of uranium waste to hand out....
5. To URI
Andy ,   Canada   (10.30.06)
It is not because NATO or anybody else used them, give Israel the right to use such weapons. it wasn't correct then and it isn't now. what if in the next war they are used against Isreal which is a possibility, would that be correct. in this decade the humanity is at stake pls look for peace
6. I hope not
Aaron Rabinovich ,   Canada   (10.30.06)
If this will be proved, it will be a catastrophic mistake ever done by Israel. This gives Ahmadi Hajad more excuse to continue with nuclear program. If Israel use Uranium in small-scale war in Lebanon, this is a green light for all extremists to try to use similar weapon on Israel in the future. Think about the consequences of Israel using Uranium on Muslim in this highly tense political atmosphere.
7. uranium #1and#3
h.f.c.nasrallah z.l ,   europe   (10.30.06)
1 and 3. i considered replying to your remarks. decided your not worth it/
8. Shocking news
Faisal ,   India   (10.30.06)
Israel can bomb any thing any where . be it Uranium or nukes coz this war was forced on Israel . and Israel didnt started it .. Lebanese can only cry for justice against Israel . and Israel will defend itself against terrorists . So be careful all arabs .. now its uranium so dont dare to mess with Israel again .. or else soon u will get get nukes .. Israel is also a partner in war on terror . Terror should be end with terror .
9. Hizbollah used Depleted Uranium in Anti Tank Missiles (end)

11. Hitler gased you, you nuked lebanon
Jerry Smith ,   Canada   (10.30.06)
Whether Isreal releases 1 mega ton of conventional weapons or 1 mega ton of uraniam grade weopons its all the same at the end. Isreal tribes murdered 150 prophets (not messenger) in one day and then opened their markets as if nothing happened. For some reason, nobody is surprised at what you attempted to do in Lebanon and some think that you learned something from WW2, apparently you didn't. Shame shame double shame, now we all know Isreal's inialation for supremcy game!
12. Someone has to ask why an accusatory finger is being pointed
Bruno ,   Haifa   (10.30.06)
Because we're a bunch of immoral, unthinking, militaristic, hooligans, who went into Lebanon, and blasted left, right and center. We blew up their oil storage, and for what - so we could pollute their coast, and the Mediterranean. Don't we think before acting? apparently not. When we behave like hooligans, it should come as now surprise that the world treats us as such. Our moral, ethical and military standards are dropping - fast !
13. 238 radiation and victimism
Viroslav ,   Spain   (10.30.06)
Just for clarification: Uranium 238 IS radioactive. It is not as bad as other isotopes but it is radioactive. Nevertheless, its use is due to its high density, it is better than say plumb for high penetration. Radioactivity is a side affect. Aside of this: Nice answer from the spokeman. Not "we didn't" or "yes we did" but. The answer is "You bad guys are pointing to us because we are Jewish". Is it a joke? It was not Belgium or Zanzibar who invaded Lebanon. It is disgusting that every time a criticism on Israel is made the racial issue is brought into play. Isn't this a demonstration of Jewish State racism?
14. To "Jerry Smith" Canada
Nick ,   Sweden   (10.30.06)
Q: How many semi-literate canadian Israel-haters raiding Y-net every day and posting brain-dead nonsense do you need to screw in a light bulb? A: Wait, is it an Israeli light bulb?
15. Slow down people.....consider this
Aaron   (10.30.06)
I wish Ynet woudl stop resorting to sensationalist news reporting and put some facts in their articles.... First of all, if Israel used DU (depleted uranium) shells, there would be nothing 'illegal' about it. Israel, along with other countries, did not ratify the 3rd protocol of the Geneva Convention banning such weapons. I would further question the methodology used by the investigation. So the premise, if I am reading correctly, is that is uraninium is present, then Israel is to blame? Hezbollah isn't even up for investigation. Consider what DU is used for... Yes, bunker busters do make use of DU but so does anti-tank ordinance, which Hezbollah did use. How could Hezbollah destroy IDF vehicles without making use of DU shells? Maybe it really was 'divine' (sarcasm). I know this debate is highly polarized, but you must use objective fact to draw conclusions. I support Israel 110% but when it does something wrong or unjust (like the Land Absentee Act of the 1950s - I hold that the law was wildly abused in certain cases) then it must be acknowledge and rectified. but in this, I cannot see what Israel did wrong. Israel defended its sovereignty. The only wrong doing was on the part of the gov't who agreed to ridiculous resolution that brings the whole scenario back to square one. We will see Israel-Hezbollah redux in the future because of this... But some people in the world don't want rectification of wrong-doings or more generally strive for peace, they want liquidation of the Jewish State, which to me is tantamount to a declaration of war. How can there be peace in that scenario? Why should it always be incumbent on Israel to extend a hand for peace? How about various Arab groups dust off their olive branch and really extend it to us? So, in short, learn the law, learn the facts before arguing. Some on Ynet resort to hysterical condemnations of the State before understanding what 'legal' and 'illegal' means in int'l law (there is no adjudicating body and therefore alot of 'laws' are not justicible). Their moral view is skewed as well as the suffering of lebanese citizens is of more quality than the suffering and death inflicted on Israeli civilians. I think there can be peace, its all possible, but there has to be the desire on both parts. What insurance have Arabs given in their peace deasl with Israel? Zero. And you wonder why Israelis view Arabs with suspicion. And to Bruno #12, people blame Israel because blaming the weak Sinoura gov't of Lebanon, Iran, Syria and more obviously Hezbollah is difficult. It involves a confrontational stance where the West (particularly the EU) wants none. The EU's goal is always to make the right noises at the right time, not to defend principle. The 'calm' night in Paris is 200 vehicles burining. Anyway, I have been long-winded...Someone else comment... Shalom
16. Radioactivity
Dr D ,   Jerusalem   (10.30.06)
Thank you the UN and the eyes opening British media report !!!! If you will find any radioactivity in Lebanon at least we will know that Iran is transferring material for a dirty bomb and by chance we hit some containers. This is the only explication . The Lebanon II war was fought with the most stupid strategy and weaponry and to see any nuclear involvement shows how ignorant and stupid the British media are.
17. Jerry, what are you smoking?
Avraham ,   Netivot   (10.30.06)
18. Who give a damm what the Useless Nations says!

We will use whatever is necessary to defend ourselves. No, we will not roll over & die to please the rest of the world. Am Yisroel Chai V'Kayiam.

20. Fabricated lies by English Antisemitists ...

Antisemitism on the rise in england .. we all still remember the anti jewish logos that were posted on public buses this summer in england ... Screw England !!!
21. This is all the mistake of US sponsorship and financing
Steve ,   UA   (10.30.06)
our governemnt has fuelled this war and was testing american weapons in war time and needed to do that in lebanon ... Our government should stop its finanical and military aid to israel which has costed us the tax payers billions.... check this site underneath to see the extent of US aid to israel http://www.wrmea.com/html/us_aid_to_israel.htm
22. #12 thank you. I think they are "obsessed with skepticism "
observer   (10.30.06)
(Foreign Ministry Spokesman; “Sometimes it seems that when it comes to the Jewish State – it is decided to treat the matter differently. Someone has to ask why an accusatory finger is being pointed at Israel.”) Are the Israeli leaders Zionists or Jews? Israeli leaders show a high grade of skepticism; far exceeding that of ordinary Jews. Based on this, has one to say that Israeli leaders are Zionists?
23. A barbaric and idiotic act. Radiation will affect israel 2:
fadi ,   lebanon   (10.30.06)
Us use of depleted uranium bombs against iraqis in the gulf war odf 1991 resulted in thousands of cancerous cases in southern iraq. Again the same scenario was repeated in bosnia and Kosovo during american intervention !! These caused thousands of deaths among civilians long after the wars ended. The depleteted uranium war heads when exploding spread raditation that can go to long distances through the air. The funny and stupid thing is that so far reports show that israel used these weapons in alkhiam which is 1-2 km from israeli border and directly next to al mitulla settlement .. which means that winds will carry the radiations to northern israel also and the same cancerous cases will hopefully develop there ... These idiots Olmert , Peretz and Halutz should be sent to a war crime tribunal for their attrocities and their crimes not only against lebanese but also against their own civilian people ... Good Work Israel .. keep it going !!!
24. uranium
av ,   london uk   (10.30.06)
i wish that IDF used more powerfull than uranium .when you are in no win situation how the usa and uk bombarded yugoslavia and irak maybe they use fire crackers
25. #21 i have to say those are Very interetsing figues in the

article !!
26. THE UN IS THE NEW REICH !
(10.30.06)
27. #15 do not forget that they were defending Lebanese land
observer   (10.30.06)
(Yes, bunker busters do make use of DU but so does anti-tank ordinance, which Hezbollah did use.) Among things which govern the use of weapons are the nature of these weapons and the area where they where used. For example, using cluster bombs is banned in populated areas, even when there are military posts amidst. Hezbullah troops were defending their land not yours.
28. Ynet's stupid failure: where are the experts?
daniel ,   Amsterdam   (10.30.06)
How hard would it be to scoop up some Israeli reservists who were in Lebanon and ask them if anti-tank amuntion like the Hetz 7 was used. I dont really see why a tank would fire DU ordinance at a house where hezbollah fighters are hiding. Since hollow explosive and / or High Explosive would do a much better job. Depleted uranium does not explode, it only penetrates. I am willing to believe it was used against bunkers, but not much else. How come Ynet is not capable of getting some experts if half the country has knowledge about this subject. How hard can journalism be? Very hard it seems....
29. #27, Observe this ....
Nick ,   Sweden   (10.30.06)
This article is about radioactivity, not cluster bombs. Your "straw man" discussion technique does not impress. "Hetzbollah troops were defending their land, not yours" ??? WHAT? Defending their country attacking an Israeli borderpatrol, kidnapping 2 and killing 8, and afterwards randomly firing 3000 unguided rockets ladden with ball bearings, meant to kill and maim unprotected civilians, while causing no harm even to the basic armour of IDF? Who do you think your kidding?
30. #19
Faisal ,   India   (10.30.06)
Well i m saying the truth only .. no one can say anything to Israel and even its breaking all resolutions and accords its doesnt matters . Why u know that ? Coz all Arabs leaders are not united and more or less they are thinking abt being in power . Israel will use nukes soon and destroy many arab countries .. now it was uranium .. Awake up all its time to change things .. and work for peace more than preparing for wars .
