62. To #38 - Understanding Jews
Jonathan ,   New York   (11.09.06)
Matt, As a Conservative Independent who happens to be Jewish, I share your confusion. The best way to understand it is that Jews, culturally and historically , have been a compassionate people who are conscerned for the welfare (No Democrat pun intended) of thier fellow man. The way I see it, the vast Jewish support for Democrats is misguided thinking that the Dems are the party of compassion. As a clear thinking conservative, I know that the supposed compassion the dems try to sell is false. The conservative philosophy of helping people help themselves (By pushing people to work and to fend for themsleves rather then pushing social/governmental programs that give away money like the Dems do) is more congruous with Jewsih philosophy them the liberal crap that just keeps people down. Judaism, for example, stresses giving charity and helping your fellow man when he's down. But there is a concept in Judaism that giving a poor man a JOB is a THOUSAND times better then just giving him some cash. This is a conservative thought. Anyway, I definately understand your confusion - especially when it comes to Israel. The Pres., whom I voted for twice, is a good man and he understands good vs. evil. He has been a true friend of Israel - unlike the Clintons who have done everything in thier power to undermine Israel - Starting with propping up a cold blooded murderer, Arafat, and inviting him to the White House. It was down hill from there. "W" on the other hand, has allowed Israel to crack down on the suicide bomber isanity and, although he is the first President to speak of a two state solution, has been nothing but a good friend of Israel. It's a damn shame that more people don't see this.
63. Carter?
dana ,   ny   (11.09.06)
Any Jew that mention's Carter as as friend of the Jews is obviously a JINO. How come you didn't mention FDR-too embarased to honor the man who in collaboration with Jewish libs let the Easren European Jews rot. Oh yeah after the small minority of Jewish Jews raised a Cain FDR and his shtadlaren finally helped out at the end -kicking and screaming, while in Spring'43 Republican Robert Kean condemned the inaction .
64. #36
Dan ,   Bismarck, ND, USA   (11.09.06)
Brett is correct. At least since the Clinton era, Jewish Democrats in Congress have been among the first to call for Israel to "show restraint" whenever she stand to defend herself. If one looks for a religious link to support for Israel, look to Evangelical Christians.
65. When will you liberal Jews WAKE UP!?
Dave   (11.09.06)
When will you liberal Jews wake up? a vote for Dems is a vote for Hamas! George Bush is the best friend Israel ever had
66. #3 Tayfun
Boris ,   New York   (11.09.06)
You mean like you did with Armenian minority killing 1.5 million. Would you say that it was an acceptable solution.
67. Jewish legislatures
Phil Cohen ,   Camden NJ, USA   (11.09.06)
If they aren't Zionists, then they are worse than useless
68. Bad for US, Good for Israel
SG ,   Chicago, IL   (11.09.06)
Well said #3 Tayfun. All those who unecessarily insult you reveal their racism. Every country should look after its own interests. The US needs to purge itself of everyone who puts their interests ahead of US interests. This means anyone who supports Israel first, takes Israeli PAC money and displays Jewish supremacist tendencies. It's a joke to say that Israel will suffer because Democrats have power. Israel has gotten a lot from both parties. What more do you want than the $4-5 billion you get every year from gullible US taxpayers? Nothing will change, unfortunately. I'm sure if all those people who are Jewish in Congress were Muslims, most of the people here would be freaking out. The hypocrisy is so evident. Personally, I would take Muslims over Zionists, as long as they didn't have a plan for world conquest. Zionism kills cultures, as astute Americans recognize. You should be careful, because there are not enough of you to really control the world and you can't fool all the people all the time......
69. To #8
David ,   USA   (11.09.06)
Would the Israeli Air Force purposely try to sink an American Naval Vessel - yes. Has Turkey - no. We know who our friends are.
70. Jewish influence on American government policy
Dan ,   LA, USA   (11.09.06)
It is strikingly obvious to any fairminded person that jews, both Israeli and dual loyalty American, exercise enormous influence over American politics -- and also media, but that is another issue. With respect to government, nobody advances his career in Congress unless he supports Israel and its lobby groups such as the AIPAC. Just look at the donations both Senators and Representatives receive from AIPAC and you'll see to what I refer. This has a detrimental effect on Americans, however, because the rest of the world despises us for supporting a morally bankrupt and brutally oppressive state, namely Israel. We need to sever ties to Israel and stop giving them money and arms which it uses to kill its neighbors and steal their land and water. Just look at a map of Israel from 1949 and compare to a present day map and you can see how Israel has grown at the expense of its neighbors. Just writing about Israel makes me feel morally sick.
71. To:Matt Smith (38) "For the mystery of iniquity doth already
C. Read ,   MS, USA   (11.09.06)
And at the Appointed Time the Wicked One will be exposed for who he really is...And One Great and Dreadful Day the Messiah of Israel will completely destroy him. "For, behold, the Day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the Day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear My Name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the Day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of Hosts..." "Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered. Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a Book of Remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon His Name. And they shall be Mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that Day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the Righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not. Remember ye the Law of Moses My servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and Judgments." Malachi 3:14-18; 4:1-4 I pray for the Day when I see all of Israel walking in the True Light! But until then, may Almighty God have mercy upon those who truly love Him—Jews and Gentiles, alike. Sincerely, C. Read 9 November 2006 / 18 Cheshvan 5767
72. #23...Understanding why Jews tend to be democrats
Bill Hollin ,   Missoula, MT   (11.09.06)
I am Jewish, and a Republican. My mother thinks I was dropped on my head as a baby. Jews have a long memory, but it mostly goes back to FDR and to a lesser extent JFK, virtual heroes to American Jews. Many stay within the fold of their parents and grandparents out of loyalty to family etc., ignorant of the anti-Jewish stand of the far-(and not-so-far) left. The memory of Father Coughlin and the failures of the Hoover Administration to stem the Depression still resonates today,. (I told you, long memory!) In America, Jews were also the Socialists and anarchists of the 1st part of the 20th C. Their children are simply honoring their ancestors, I suppose. There is of course strong Jewish support of the Republican party. Many of the neo-cons who think-tanked Bush policy are of course Jewish. They are just not as popularly visible as say Streisand, Jon Stewart, etc. (except in a negative sense) I am a Republican because I believe (Reagan) conservatism represents the fairest playing field for all. I do not see business as a bad thing per se, profit is good (as long as its not at the expense of the less fortunate (yes the Marianas thing upsets me) and I believe in a more traditional morality - irregardless of some Republicans who are unable to follw their own tenets. Democrats tend to "evolve" in the same way Reform Judaism "evolves", and thus fits the "word-view" of most American Jews who are either reform, or non-observing. Personally, I find that both are "DE-volving." Hope this helps.
73. Remember you've been elected to congress not the Kennesett
Bill Nedham ,   Los Angeles   (11.09.06)
Jews are capable of doing much good in any legal body, but the cabal of Jews that have insinuated themselves in Washington are such ferocious advocates of Israel that they will take us into another war with Iran that will destroy several generations of young people in our country. The ones doing the fighting and dying to be sure will not be children of Jews, they will be on the sidelines in Harvard and Yale cheering the troops on. Iran is not Iraq. Their military is not eviscerated from years of sanctions. The population is over 3 times larger than Iraq and just like Vietnam they have Russia, China and North Korea as partners in mayhem. If a tiny group such as Hizbollah can stop the mighty Israeli army in its tracks with a battery of sophisticated shoulder fired missiles, just think what a million + army can do not to mention the terrorist implications here at home. It is a time of great concern and introspection.
74. #39: Ridiculous
Matt S. ,   Columbus USA   (11.09.06)
...so you're saying that the PM is a lapdog of Bush and jumps at his every command? Perhaps Bush orchestrated the abduction of Cpl. Shalit, too. Bill Clinton was a great arbitor of Middle East tensions...He lied to Netanyahu, coddled Arafat and let the Iraq, Iran and N.Korea menace fester, untouched. Great policies! If it wasn't for Bush's pressure on Iraq, Iran and N.Korea they would have silently developed nuclear capabilities. Left untouched, the first inkling we'd have had of Iran's capability would have been a mushroom cloud over Tel Aviv. N.Korea actually completed it's program under "cover of Clinton". Let's remember the sequence of events here: our invasion of Iraq compelled Libya to SURRENDER their nuclear program and materials to the US for fear of invasion. Those materials are in lockup in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. We then confronted N.Korea; they became belligerent because their program was discovered and have repeatedly tried to blackmail the US, like it successfully did during the Clinton administration. This prompted Ahmadinejad to go public with Iran's program and begin saber rattling to inspire Iranians, Iran's clients, and those sympathetic to Iran (notably in the UN) to circle the wagons around them. Bush didn't create these situations. These situations metastisized because of eight years of neglect by the prior administration. Bush just had the nerve to lift the rock off that snake pit. In the case of N.Korea, the Clinton administration knew what they were up to but didn't do anything about it for fear of looking stupid and losing re-election. Now we're paying for it. Foreign policy should be left to adults. The Democrats are children, and have been the source of nearly all American foreign policy failures (spread of communism across Europe, China, Korea and Vietnam falling to communism, etc). All of this was because of Democrats.
75. WI-We have all Jewish Senators! They're OK!
Robert Taylor ,   Milwaukee,WI   (11.09.06)
Here in Wisconsin, we have TWO Jewish Senators, Kohl and Feingold, no secret takeover plots as of yet! (Just kidding of course!) They are both good men.
76. its all about guilt and hypocracy.

Tayfun, Cleansing?
78. The Jewish Vote
Jonnie Cromes ,   Corinth, Texas USA   (11.09.06)
I've wondered forever why so many of the Jewish people are so overwhelmingly in favor of abortion?
79. Crying Wolf
Josh Renner ,   Fort Lauderdale   (11.09.06)
Dunb jews always crying wolf... why dont they just go home.
80. US Jews Vote for Democrats
David ,   Fort Wayne, US   (11.09.06)
It is a bit bewildering to me to see this. If anything the Democratic Party in the US has been more anti-Isreal in the last few years than any time in the last 30+ years I have followed politics. Their view of "diplomacy" will give every radical muslim whatever they want. I plan to start a Burka import business in the US myself.
81. #48- Ignorance- You are exactly right!
David ,   Fort Wayne, US   (11.09.06)
The people of the US have been duped. I have a son fighting in Iraq. What the press tells us and what is actually going on in Iraq and Afganistan are diametrically opposite. I am very afraid for the future. We will see thousands and thousands more die due to this election.
82. Too many Jews
John ,   Boston MA USA   (11.09.06)
Before you comment on the USA, you should consider correcting the genocide of Amenians in your country.
83. Jews in US Government
Ballard Pritchett ,   Englewood, Colorado   (11.09.06)
Not all Jews in the US Government blindly support Israeli atrocities, but their influence is dispropirtionate to the Jewish population without doubt.. Susan Nathan's book The Other Side of Israel is opening some eyes to the similarity of Israel's treatment of Arabs, including its alleged citizens, to South Africa's treatment of blacks under Apartheid. Reminds one of American treatment of its native citizens during its frontier period. Israel should not have such strong influence in the US government. It is a different country, and one with much to answer for - as the US also has much to answer for. Both US and Israel governments have not yet learned that democracy worth having cannot be built on the suffering of inconvenient people - like the Arabs that were depopulated to make room for Israel.
84. Chaka Faqtta
John Perilloux ,   Norco, LA, USA   (11.09.06)
#55 How can he be a Baptist and a muslim? Looking at his voting record, I would say he isn't a muslim, and never has been.
85. Post #70
John S. Perilloux ,   Norco, LA, USA   (11.09.06)
#70 You ARE morally sick, Dan.
86. RE: democrat Jew by Aaron
Republican Jew ,   NYC   (11.09.06)
Please explain to my why you loath in Canada and talk about jews elsewhere? Your so called saviors the democratic jews want to cut funding to Israel but I guess for you that is being opened minded. You live in a very opened minded social society. What differeniates your society from the former Soviet Union? It sure isn't health care or the right for doctors to own their own practice. Please mr. open minded tell me how democrates here in the US are going to help Israel. Liberalism- A person that is so open minded that their brains falls out.
87. Overrepresented Jews
Digbads ,   Salt Lake City, USA   (11.09.06)
Perhaps we should take the Turkish approach and slay them for not being "like us". You Turks could certainly teach the world a thing or two about atrocities.
88. More Jews elected in 2006....
Malachi McCormick ,   Staten Island, NYC,   (11.09.06)
And, wait for the BIG ONE, one of these years....For President! Yes, it's SPITZER v. BLOOMBERG! And think how much better off we would be with either one (compared to certain nebbishes.....) (You heard it here first!)
89. Jewish voting Democrat
Jake ,   League City, USA   (11.09.06)
I do not understand the reasoning for Jewish citizen's in the U.S. to vote Democratic. Republican's are trying to prevent Israel from being overrun by Middle Eastern Radical Muslim's and the U.S. (Republican's) are attempting to prevent Israel from being attacked. Maybe someone within your organization can answer this question for me. Jake LC
90. To TayfunTurkey
DemocracyToday ,   Atlanta   (11.09.06)
Don't be a shmuck- in America voters have a choice of who to vote for. How can any minority be "overrepresented." Politicians represent Americans, not their own heritage. You ignaramous.
