32. Nations Gloat Bush Humiliation
ray ,   new hampshire   (11.09.06)
Don't be decieved, Bush already had a new path planned. The BAKER, HAMILTON, SCOWCROFT, GATES CABAL is the Bush Senior pro-Arab bunch . They will scuttle Israel just as Bush dumped Rummy-in a flash -to achieve "Peace in our time".I doubt Olmert can stand up to them.
33. To Andy
George ,   Atlanta, GA   (11.09.06)
Name one Democrat with enough balls to make any good for Israel, except Lieberman who got kicked out by the Dems and had to stage a comeback as an Indepedent. Names like Clinton the peace-at the-Jews-expense-maker and Carter the Islamic-Revolution-in-Iran maker come to mind right away. Big "friends" of Israel. With these friends, who needs enemies?
34. If the world hates bush it means Bush is great
Roger ,   USA   (11.09.06)
It means Bush is doing most things correctly. The world is not a friend of America. The old Europe, the Arab world/Islamic states have turned into the US adversaries. The world hates strong leadership and America.
35. Dorothy in OZ (9)
sk ,   USA   (11.09.06)
Dorothy, dear, Bush was not "ousted." This is what we call a MIDTERM ELECTION. Bush was not on the ballot. You don't get out much, do you?
36. Israel is screwed????
Harv ,   Carrollton, Texas   (11.09.06)
He George, if what you write is true, then why do Jews vote Democratic like most of them ALWAYS DO!! The Jewish voting behavior has always astounded me.
37. Re: Democrats priority action list
Joe ,   Austin TX, USA   (11.09.06)
Wow, you really think the Dem's are going to impeach Bush? Sorry to disappoint you, but even if they wanted to impeach, the Democrats don't have the 2/3 Senate majority needed to make it stick. (In fact, they only have 51%.) A call for impeachment hearings might make for an interesting sideshow... especially nearer to the 2008 elections... but unless something really huge comes up, Bush's job is pretty much safe. As for your action list? 1. That Bush *stole* the election in 2000 is a widely held opinion. However, it hasn't actually been proven. To prove it would be an indictment of the entire Republican party, which as I mentioned still holds enough votes to stop any impeachment. This will never happen. 2. We already did that. 3. Can't prove it. Would have to prove that Bush knew absolutely there were no WMD and intentionally lied. As it is, Bush was relying on intelligence gathered by the CIA which indicated WMD. (By the way some WMD were found in Iraq, just not as much as expected.) 4. This is not an impeachable offense. By our Constitution, impeachment can happen as a result of "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors". Failed economic policies don't qualify -- if they did, we'd have a heck of a lot more impeached Presidents. 5. This is also not an impeachable offense - unless you can somehow prove the president was bribed into rubber-stamping some bill that was already passed by Congress. Good luck. 6. Of all the items on your priority list, this is the most plausible, but even then it is unlikely the U.S. will pull out of Iraq in a time frame that could be considered by anyone's definition as "immediately". 7. Oh, come on, now, you've *got* to be kidding. If the U.S. was interested in a nuclear war, why haven't we used nukes in Iraq or Afghanistan by now? The only way the U.S. would ever use nukes again is as a last resort if a ground war were waged in the states... and even then it's a maybe, given the efficacy of our conventional weaponry. Stop feeding the propaganda machine.
38. #34 Roger..with that logic
(11.09.06)
I think you can be genious since you fall in to one of the tails of the human intelligence curve. Which end I will leave it to you figure out.
39. M. Hartley (11) speaks for plenty of Americans.
sk ,   USA   (11.09.06)
What plenty of leftists (especially journalists) do not understand is that a negative assessment of Bush on Iraq does NOT necessarily mean that Bush should be more "namby-pamby." You can't tell that because pollsters do not ask a follow-up question asking what underlies the negative assessment. I would not be too happy about the Dems electoral success. Bush was already behaving like Kerry, with the UN BS. If the Dems weaken security, and if a terrorist attack occurs, count on it that Bush's approval ratings will go through the roof, the Dems will lose catastrophically in the next election (2 years from now), and you'll see a much more militant America. I personally did not vote (I vote Republican mostly) for the reason M. Harley suggested.
40. Dana (13) get back to your Mosque. I hear that off-key

"7. Stopping Bush/ Cheney from starting a nuclear attack and war on iran that will bring death to millions of people (not only in iran " As long as you are one of the casualties, I am happy.
42. Peguise (16)
sk ,   USA   (11.09.06)
You are an embarrassment. The Big Money in Washington is Arab oil money. (How many Israeli endowed chairs at universities, for that matter?) Stop being such a dupe. And stop being silly enough to believe that the American government has put Israel's interests over the American one -- for decades.
43. Worst President???
Brock ,   Carrollton, Texas   (11.09.06)
Hey Andy (ramat), I thought Jimmy Carter had that title guaranteed forever. B
44. US Elections
Julia ,   USA   (11.09.06)
Contrary to popular opinion, the American people did not share in the extremist views of the bush administration. Many were cowed by fear into keeping this administration in power. Now the wool has been pulled from over their eyes. Americans have always wanted good relations with the rest of the world, and the majority have cringed as this administration ruined our reputation in the world. Hopefully things will get back on track now, but it will be a long, hard road for this country, as the republicans have made such a mess of both our foreign and domestic policies. The Democrats have an extremely difficult job ahead of them. We can only be patient as they try to make things right.
45. Just wait
Avraham ,   Netivot   (11.09.06)
To all you liberal democrats out there. Just wait until Iran & the rest of the arab world sticks it up your ass. You don't understand the war on terror & you definately don't understand the warped arab mind. Beware of what lies ahead for you!
46. Separation of Church and State
J   (11.09.06)
Freedom of Religion..... No (Christian) Prayer in School I think thats a great thing
47. Gloating World
simon ,   London GB   (11.09.06)
When the world has finished gloating, including those rather backward leaders Nasrallah and Amedinajad, perhaps they may wake up to fact that the Democrats are actually in a bind. having first supported the War in Iraq, then sat on the sidelines and criticised now in power have to come up with the goods. They have as much idea as the rest of the world as how you make 3 disperate tribes that hate each other to live together. The only person who achieved this was Sadam. So its either find another sychopathic leader like Sadam or take the Balkan option and divide the country up in to its traibal areas and see the end of Iraq. And do you seriously believe the Democrats are going to take that decision. It may happen by deafault if they cut and run. But then you can say goodbye to Oil. No its business as usual.
48. fadi is retarded, enough said. Probaly 12 with 40 IQ

I hope you are prepaired to convert to Islam, that will be your only choise or die saying no! Someday all your dreams will come true, jackass.
50. Bush's Defeat and Fadi from Lebanon
Lebanese American ,   Florida   (11.09.06)
One can only hope that this latest setback for the republicans will not force Bush into an appeasement policy towards the Radical Fascists and their supporters like Mr. Fadi from Lebanon. Fadi you are an ignorant little worm, who knows nothing about American politics, society or true democracy. unfortunately the Arab world is full of people like you and I don’t see hope for a change unless we witness the complete destruction of those who are leading the fight against freedom democracy and peace in the middle-east and by peace I don’t mean the strategic peace the Arabs opted for because they cant destroy Israel, peace means accepting the Israeli rights to have a country in that part of the world and stopping the calls for Israel’s destruction the “ Death to America and Israel “ chants that stems only from racial and religious intolerance. Fadi stop lecturing us about what the democrats should do, I suggest you worry about an action list for your corrupt and rotten Syrian puppet politicians and warlords. The only action list I can think of that is good for Lebanon is sending you and your entire Hezbollah crowd to Iran where you can serve your master ASS-medinajad.
51. Bush's Defeat?
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (11.09.06)
First of all, Bush wasn't running. Secondly, maybe we got sick and tired of hearing how the Dems would do everything so much better, we decided to give them a chance. Now they have two years to live up to their hype or to hang themselves. The US being what it is, 2 years of good, bad or indifferent won't make or break this country. And we do it all without revolutions, killing each other or burning down each other's houses and cars.
52. # 6
Ginette ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.09.06)
"You prove why we will always have only ourselves to rely on. We will do WHATEVER is necessary to protect our State." Arie of Afula, you are so FREAKING RIGHT! What it boils to is that us Jews have no one but ourselves to really rely on...absolutely no one. Many have tried for centuries to eradicate us from this planete, but look, we are still here, stronger than ever despite some foolish brothers.
53. Democratic victory
Russ Moore ,   Grand Prairie, TX-US   (11.10.06)
Good article. However, what you and most of the rest of the world are ignoring is that this was not a landslide. Yes, the Dems picked up a few seats in a few states, but they lost on many issues as well. Most of the American citizens I know strongly support Bush and our war in Iraq. Our major concern, however, remains the illegal alien invasion from our southern border.
54. to m hartley
roddy ,   north pole   (11.10.06)
now I understand why the world hates you bec you are too arrogant! then why is it that the democrats won the house & senate? it tells something about the character of this admin. & it's handling of the war. your policy
55. to roger
roger   (11.10.06)
they hate bec your foreign policy is full of hypocrisy! when you blame everybody, anybody & not admit your mistakes & failure is not a LEADER! W calls himself as the DECIDER but blames everybody! STRONG LEADERSHIP? you just want to kick ass on a country (IRAQ) that did not have anything to do with 911! and when people correct or expose your mistakes or failures, you call them names! that is why the world hates you!
56. Re: Separation of Church and State
D   (11.10.06)
What's so great about that? The USA was founded on Christian principles... Besides, there is no such thing as "Separation of Church and State". That phrase is not even mentioned in the Constitution.
57. Bush's Defeat--What defeat? Fadi
Brenda ,   Indiana   (11.10.06)
Bush didn't lose anything--and the outcome of this election is what's normal for elections held in the 6th year of many presidents. Bush is used to this--he had to govern Texas with Democrats in control of the state's congess when he was goverenor. The winners only won by slight margins so it wasn't a big victory. They won by the shin of their teeth. The Democrats won't impeach Bush there is to much opposition to that. The Democrats whinned and screamed what a bad President Bush was/is and they could do it better but they didn't tell us their plan. Now that they are in control of congress they are trying for the White House in the 2008 presidental elections and they won't do anything to upset that. Right now many of them are trying to be fake Republicans but it won't last or get them anything. If we do get hit again the Democrats will be the ones to take the fall this time and they are afraid of that. They're already learned what happens when they say something bad against our soldiers. Look at what happened to Kerry. The Democrats didn't win the Congress because Americans want to leave Iraq we just want a differant plan to win the war so our men can come home. The Democrats have to come up with one and now they've got their chance. Fadi don't you wish you lived in a country where you could speak out against your leader the way so many Americans are speaking out about Bush? If you get mad at your leaders or disagree with them what would happen to you? I heard today that the college students in Iran are being punished by speaking out. Seems like a 150 students were sent to the college administraters offfice because they were speaking out against the present government. The newspapers have already been muzzled. .
58. So Iran didn't like Bush's support for Israel
Nester ,   Calgary, Canada   (11.10.06)
And now they are complaining about the democrats... Can anyone assume that they just don't like the USA???
59. M. Hartley, I bet your hubby is one good jarhead!
Richard ,   Open Range, USA   (11.10.06)
Have you read about 87% of all Amer. Jews voting Demo? How about that?! Why let another American get shot in Iraq? Why waste another US sawbuck on this bullshit. Let's "redeploy" all our troops to Afghanistan, or Hawaii, ASAP and let John Kerry and his pals send their sons and daughters into battle! (Like that is really going to happen!!)
60. Bush defeat
Jeanne ,   Michigan   (11.10.06)
I agree - let's see what the Dems can do. They are up to bat now. Will they hit a home run or strike out.
