1. Evacuation brings Peace
mordechai ,   jerusalem, Israel   (11.16.06)
As someone who was active fulltime against the disasterous pull out from Gush Katif, we can now clearly see how the engenious plan of the Israeli left has brought peace and prosperaty to Sderot.
2. Olmert wants all residents to leave!
Mark ,   Usa   (11.16.06)
3. the brave people of Israel
Amused   (11.16.06)
Would last about 5 minutes during a real bombing campaign. You can quote Winston Churchill but Lets face it you are not British Lebanese or vietnames. No back bone. Might as well start packing.
4. Giving in to the terrorists
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (11.16.06)
Without at all wishing to disparage Gaydamak's initiative, this is hardly the solution is it? The mass evacuation of Sderot will hand the terrorists a total victory. The way things are going, Ashkelon also will have to be evacuated because the terrorists won't be satisfied with Sderot alone. IDF "pinpoint" operations in Gaza have achieved nothing. The government says "oh, but hundreds of terrorists have been killed", but the Palestinians have an endless supply of terrorists. There doesn't seem to be an alternative to a major onslaught on Gaza, and the longer this is delayed in the hope that things won't get worse, the more IDF casualties there will be because the terror infrastructure is being strengthened all the time.
5. Damn its one Qassam rocket!? what would u do if palestenians
fadi ,   lebanon   (11.16.06)
were shelling you like the IDF is doing to Gaza !?
6. to #1
marty ,   USA   (11.16.06)
I understand your point. What we have today is even worse, Sderot is within the green line. How will evacuating Sderot affect the future? Today Sderot, tomorrow Tel Aviv?????
7. How I wish
elen   (11.16.06)
this would be happening to our big shots visiting Hollywood, as they are the ones that really deserve this. What a bunch of puffed up losers, gadding about Sunset Boulevard...
8. olmert to be blamed for shelling beit yahoun !
fadi ,   lebanon   (11.16.06)
9. Sderot Evacuation - the SHAME OF A NATION
David Hes ,   Toronto Canada   (11.16.06)
What next? The evacuation of Tel Aviv or Jerusalem? Why not give up altogether and give all Israel to the Arabs. WAKE UP CITIZENS OF ISRAEL RID THE COUNTRY OF THIS INEPT OLMERT GOVERNMENT. Reclaim your country, you deserve a strong vital, vibrant and decisively strong intelligent governing body. Your ancestors and your future demands it.
10. Teheran Wins AGAIN!!!
malcolm   (11.16.06)
They designed and taught Hamas how to make Qassams. They got Sharon to chase out his fellow Jews from Gaza. They have the best prime minister in the history of Israel working for them in the Knesset. They timed all the kidnappings. Now they are turning any town they want in the South into a ghost town. When will a true leader in Israel stand up?
11. Evacuation
Vicki ,   Kadima, Israel   (11.16.06)
Arcadi Gaydamak had done a wonderful mitzva and all the people do here is turn it into a Political discussion. The idiot who mentioned the blitz cannot have any conception of what it is like to live under constant terrorist threats. Its not like the good old days, when a war was a war. The people of sderot are not at war, they are well within the green line and are paying the price of the useless withdrawel from Gaza. Instead of going on about a situation which is totally out of control give some credit to someone who actually has tried to help alleviate a bit of suffering for the people of Sderot. Col ha cavod Arcadi Gaydamak.
12. I'm glad disengagement has brought Peace!
Dudu ,   Kfar Sava   (11.16.06)
13. Put an End Permanently to Qassam Rockets
Fasulia Hudra   (11.16.06)
TERROR HAS EVOLVED FASTER THAN SOCIETY HAS COMPREHENDED OR ADAPTED. Current laws and military strategies have not kept pace with the evolution of warfare especially with respect to terror of the 21st century. Terrorists exploit the humanity, morality, legal systems, and tactical weaknesses of countries to maximize their terrorist impact and corner major powers into submission simply by outlasting them. The Afghans did this to Russia. Iraq defeated USA this way in the first Gulf war. Chechnyans are trying this against Russia. The key to success is to beat the terrorists at their own game. Today the PAL terrorist use the rhetoric of occupation to justify a fallacious argument about their right to resist. This is further spun into justification for Qassam launches, stabbing, driveby shootings, suicide bombings and all other forms of terror. The Qassam launches, which yesterday killed a 57 year old woman and caused another to lose both legs, has been transformed into a nationalistic symbol of resistance for the PALs. The incursions and specific targeting of terrorists have been subverted to become a rallying point for PAL resistence and vehicle to gain press exposure, sympathy from nations lacking an objective moral compass, and a catalyst for UN debates. Through the chicanery of smoke and mirrors the PAL terrorist try to hide their culpability as the aggressor and initiator or all terror. All IDF efforts to minimize PAL civilian casualites are counter productive. The incursions and targeted assasinations endanger IDF soldiers unnecessarily. The PALs spin it into a David and Goliath battle and try to fool people into believing that the PALs are poor victims instead of victims of their own terror. The PALs are incapable of understanding cause and effect in complex terror and focused counter terror operations. The solution is to dramatically simplify the equation to rocket for rocket and eye for an eye so that the PALs can comprehend it and not be able to spin it for the world. This means that Israel should use low tech highly inaccurate rockets randomly fired in the general vacinity of Qassam launches against Israeli cities and fall where they may. This will create an image of parity instead of the argument of disproportionate force, high tech vs. low tech, and major military army vs. armed militias. All the other tools in the arsenal can be reserved for an emergency contingency plan and deployed when really needed. The argument suddenly becomes dramatically simple and defensible in all quarters: Stop shooting the Qassams at our civilians and we will stop shooting Qassam-like rockets at you. This is so simple that even the PALs can understand it once they suffer enough rockets to their cities. The argument can easily be made in every other forum as well. Ironically the "parity" of weapons turns out to be tactically advantageous to Israel because of population and architectural density differences between Gaza and Israeli targeted cities. In conclusion PAL terrorists will quickly stop firing Qassams when Israel learns to respond in kind. Fasulia Hudra
14. Jews want out
Raymond ,   South Africa   (11.16.06)
That picture reminds me of the thousands of Jews queing at the Swiss Legislation in Budapest, Hungary, before the nazi's started to deport them to aushwitz. How sad that a weak Jewish government, allows history to repeat itself. Runner-runner, but no where to run. Wake up Israel-wake up quickly.
15. Sderot Evacuation
David Hes ,   Toronto Canada   (11.16.06)
This is shameful. Why does Olmert allow these rockets to continue to rain down on Sderot. This community has a right to their homes and lifestyle. The IDF should be ordered into action. Full action to stop the shelling. Where is Israel's detterent? The arab world is watching Israel's ineptitude and weakness in responding. This is going to have a snowball effect on Israel. The arabs are growing more confident with every 'turn to the other cheek' by the Israeli government. DO SOMETHING. ORDER AN OFFENSIVE RESPONSE TO THE CONTINUAL ROCKET ATTACKS. DO IT NOW AND STOP THE SHAME OF THE COUNTRY FROM GROWING.
16. Delusional and arrogant government
Phil ,   US   (11.16.06)
My heart goes out to the brave residents of Sderot. Through no fault of their own, The Israeli government, with the encouragement of the media, embarked on the fool's mission of unilateral disengagement from Gaza. Besides evicting thousands of patriotic Israelis from their homes with unbelievable brutality and demonizing the Jewish Gaza residents, the government and the media went ahead with their stupid plan without thinking of the possible ramifications. In addition, Sharon was reelected when he campaigned against unilateral disengagement, ignored his own party's diapproval of the unilateral disengagment, and then, with the support of the brain-dead left and the media, rammed through the plan without a referendum. Didn't they consider the state of the Northern border with Lebanon since withdrawing? Didn't they realize that border towns like Sderot and Ashkelon would be vulnerable to rockets and that the liars and terrorists running the Palestinian government would do nothing to stop the rockets? What is the next move by Olmert? Is he going to turn Sderot into a ghost town? He won't have to because the residents willeventually leave on their own accord and then the terrorists will really have won.
17. #5fadi
moshe ,   jerusalem   (11.16.06)
personally, i would stop supporting violence and try and block my child becoming a suicide bomber against a people he has never met. Then again there aren't many in gaza that share my view is there.
18. Stupidity
DavidE   (11.16.06)
Israel can't survive with this kind of mentality. What happenned to the mentality in the War of Independence where 200 settlers battled 2500 Arabs in Gaza and vowed to die at their posts. You can't evacuate the town. You just have to build more of the town underground. Make the adjustments.
19. fadi
meni   (11.16.06)
the difference is that the palestinians are aiming for civilians, and frequently miss and hit nothing, while the idf is aiming for the rocket launchers and sometimes miss and hit civilians. do you get it?
20. Note: People of Ramat Aviv do not help
Itzik ,   Haifa   (11.16.06)
Nobody from Ramat Aviv ofered his appartment to children of Sderot.
21. You jews need to know:
fadi ,   lebanon   (11.16.06)
that we will never stop firing our indiscriminate missiles intentionally directed at your civilian targets....and it's not a war crime on our part either, its only a war crime when jews fire at arabs....so there. And don't try to hold arabs accountable for their actions either.....after all, the palestinians have never been a country so don't try to hold them to the same levels of accountability and responsibility that you hold normal countries to.
22. This rewards terrorism Anyone agree?
Mark ,   USA   (11.16.06)
23. Hamas will push as far as it can.

26. #21Fadi
shanatova ,   australia   (11.16.06)
Salem Fadi, You are getting very serious now. So glad to see that you are speaking the truth at last. You state that the missiles are indiscriminately fired at civilian targets. That must mean that the Geneva Convention on the rules of war figures nothing for you. In other words you do not consider the Geneva Convention on the rules of war relevant to the teachings of Muhammed. So please tell me what the Q'uran states, that makes it sosuperior to the Geneva convention. shanatova
27. Take a vacation, but come back and defy the evil ones
Noam ,   Boca Raton, FL   (11.16.06)
The purpose of the IDF's campaign in Gaza may be multifold but it is undoubtedly not aimed and forcing people to flee the towns getting shelled by artillery and cause mass exodus. The purpose of the Qassam rockets from the Hamas, IJ, and Fatah cells firing them is to cause the lives of Sderot residents to be so unbearable that they will leave and weaken the Jewish state. But I have faith in you people of Sderot. Kol HaKavod for Mr. Gaydamak for giving them some respite but may they return and continue to work their jobs and produce for the economy and be loving parents and children. And may the govt. get serious and start treating their town like Tel Aviv and the Gush Dan region. Come back and stand up to the terrorists, letting them no they will never ever get Jews to flee en masse through their hatred and intimidation. And for this Amused SOB who thinks its funny that they are leaving and mocks their courage: 1.you will be proven utterly wrong when you see how many residents will stay, even if they just get a way from the violence for a week 2.hundreds of thousands of Lebanese fled from the centers of bombing this summer 3.I doubt you from your comfortable spot in America or W. Europe wouldn;t last a day dealing with the pressures that residents of Sderot deal with. Am Yisrael Hai and Hazak V'Ametz to our Sderot achim v achiyot!
