I am a strong supporter of Israel, but, frankly, I fail to see any acceptable reason for these obnoxious fly-overs of Lebanon. Maybe IDA and/or Mossad have a good explanation, but to the outside world this rather looks like unnecessary and childish muscle-flexing than anything that can be justified on military-strategic, intelligence or security grounds. As a regular visitor of Lebanon I can only see that these fly-overs and the related sonic booms over Beirut fuel the hatred and the fanatism aimed at Israel within a growing group of Lebanese. Is that, and the increasing international disapproval, really what Israel wants and needs at this moment?

Why a mock raid on UN positions? Later, when they bomb, one IAF will claim a "mistake" because thet forgot to clear the mock target from their computer. Pathetic

IAF has been flying over Lebanon for decades, especially since 2000. What good did the overflights do? Hezbollah caught IDF completely off guard in South Lebanon. For all the overflights, Israel had NO IDEA what Hezbollah was doing. WILL THESE OVERFLIGHTS BE ANY BETTER???? It is a big mistake to provoke the Internationals with overflights that don't even produce any useful results. it makes it look as Israel is trying to provoke a fight with the UN monitoring force. THIS IS NOT GOOD.

You are right. Some flyovers are considered to be verging on absurd, even hostile provocation. We have not come here to be mocked at, but to help. If our presence is no help, we could go home. France and the other members of Unifil are not just your scapegoat, Israeli officials.

It is reported that the French peacekeepers in Lebanon have unsheathed their “Peacekeeping Anti Aircraft Weapons” and try and shoot down any Israeli reconnaissance flights that enter Lebanon airspace. Before I give my comment I have just 1 question are the French Forces that were sent to maintain the cease fire “not the peace” as such “peace” is non existent and the UN 1701 is being flaunted by the Lebanese as not binding upon them, then pray and tell me for whom did the French Forces introduce an Anti Aircraft defense system. What I do fervently hope for is, that the French do engage in a hostile act against the IDF air forces and are decimated by return fire from the IDF and then the entire contingent of Unsavory Nobodies acting under the UN either abandon their protection of the Hezbollah Terrorists or Israel finally just abandons any hope of finding any justice emanating from the UN and ignores any edict or resolution adopted by that useless organization. Any resolution adopted by that body of clowns is in any event unenforceable.
