127. 109. What's truly myopic?
Pete ,   Canada   (11.19.06)
Not "pandering" for world opinion... The world is getting smaller and smaller... The Islamic population is growing and growing... Who's to say that in 50 or 100 years the Islamic vote won't be more important than the Jewish vote in your country... Then who does Israel have to rely on to supply them and fund them? Who's to say that America will still be the world's greatest power even if they do have the same perspective and policies towards Israel as they do now? If it wasn't for support from your country, Israel could have been overrun a long time ago... You say yourself that the 1.3 billion strong Arab population is incalculably economically superior. Yes, I do think it's about land, but also about principle... The fact that it's the Jewish people that the Palestinians are fighting against is a tertiary concern for them... They perceive that they were wronged. If it had been Christians or Buddhists instead of Jews that had formed the state of Israel and "stolen their land" do you think they wouldn't be fighting against their perceived persecutors? Would they roll over and accept it? I don't think so. I think most of the Arab population sees Israel as oppressive, but not a Goliath... They see the US as the "oppressing Goliath". It seems that the root causes are pretty clear... Are you trying to imply that they are all attributable to the Palestinian population? Are you saying that the root cause of this conflict is simply an inborn anti-Jewish sentiment among the Palestinian people that predates Israel? I agree, that would be pure "wickedness", but that's not what the root cause is here... The "wickedness" that is so pervasive in this situation is a derived "wickedness"... It's one of the symptoms, not the disease... and it afflicts both sides... You see me as a subscriber to moral relativism? That's like the pot calling the kettle black, so to speak... If you were to call me a moral pluralist I may be more inclined to accept that. The fact is that the state of Israel is based on the concept of moral relativism... I'm not saying that this is evil, those are your words, not mine... Do you think you are a moral absolutist? I think it's wrong to kill, period. That's a morally absolute statement. You think it's right to kill under certain circumstances, that perspective is morally relative. Prior to WWII, the vast majority Jews were not Zionists... Many of them considered Zionism morally wrong. After the atrocities of Hitler's Nazis and the holocaust, Zionism became much more popular among the Jewish people... Now you will find an awful lot of Jews who consider Zionism morally acceptable. Whether you recognize it or not, Zionism has become acceptable to many Jews based on social and historical circumstances... This is, without a doubt, an example of moral relativism. Again, I'm not saying it's wrong, but that is truth... Truth. Don't try to tell me that I accept the fact that Palestinians are "annihilating innocent civilians" for any reason... If that's your basis for calling me morally relative then you are dead wrong. If you think that's the case, then your post is obviously a knee jerk reaction to one item that I have posted here, and you obviously didn't even read that one closely enough... Maybe the Palestinian people do envy Israelis... After all, they are richer they do have a much better standard of living... Then again, maybe they don't, maybe they are just angry and see themselves as being treated like they are second-rate citizens in a land that was once wholly theirs? Are they right or are they wrong? I don't know, but the fact that this sentiment exists indicates a fundamental failure somewhere along the line when it comes to Israeli policy...
128. 109. Also... Since I didn't have enough space...
Pete ,   Canada   (11.19.06)
What do greed and pride have to do with world opinion on Israel? I can't even begin to comment on that statement... It just seems so far out in left field that I can't even begin to wrap my head around how you would think that... I would be interested in hearing your rationale if you ever read this post (or the previous)...
129. **********GET RID OF LIEBERMAN NOW**********
(11.19.06)
THIS MAN IS A DISASTER FOR ISRAEL! Israelis and Jews, please understand, even if what he says is true, these are things you must not say! This is the POLITICAL world. You simply cannot speak the truth outright like this - it wins the people, but it destroys the country's image and threatens internal strife. Lieberman needs to go home RIGHT NOW, this man is an IDEOLOGIST, NOT A POLITICIAN.
130. I remember calling 4 the assasination of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin
Darren ,   Tampa, FL USA   (11.19.06)
On March 2003, I wrote an editorial post in the Jerusalem Post calling for the assasination of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. In March 2004, almost exactly to the day of my posted editorial, Israeli gunships killed the paraplegic Hamas bastard. I like to think I planted the thought in doing so. However, the Israelis took a whole year before getting the job done. Amen to targeted killing of the terrorists which include their "religious" leaders, but I don't mind if Israel carpet bombs the whole area. These Islamic Barbarians only understand the language of ruthlessness.
131. Lieberman
Brod ,   USA   (11.19.06)
Lieberman is right on target. His assessment of the facts and situation is brilliant. More leaders like Lieberman are needed to strengthen Israel's national security and defense.

143. Thank You Hamas, IJ, PRC and Qassam Launchers
Fasulia Hudra   (11.19.06)
PALs left the bargaining table with 100% of Gaza an 92% of West Bank. In 2000 the began Intifada 2 which created a reactionary climate amongst Israeli the put Sharon in power exactly when he was needed. it is clear that the current govt has not been effective enough in destroying Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas, IJ, PRC, and Qassam launchers in Gaza. They allowed the Gay parade in Jerusalem and the Drag parade in Beit Hanoun for terror women to support their terrorist men run away in panty hose, high heels, and far too much mascarra. We need newer more effective leadership with better tactical skills that will not allow such opportunities to rid ourselves of massive numbers of terrorists or their most senior commanders to escapde. We must neither allow ourselves to be prisoners of PAL terror nor prisoners of misplaced morality. So long as the PALs active advocate our destruction in their charter and physically pursue it on the ground with their constant terror attempts, attacks, and Qassam launches, we owe them and all who support and shield the terrorists absolutely nothing. Let both the terrorists and those who shield them be blown away. Hopefully we will support Lieberman, and other political and military leaders until the terror against us ceases. Only then when PALs stop the terror will they too live in peace and begin to receive international support and begin to acquire some hope for quality of life for them and their children. But until them they will suffer dearly for their terror.
144. Renovations: Gaza Strip to be converted to Gaza Strip Club
Fasulia Hudra   (11.19.06)
Dear Patrons, We are very sorry about any inconveniences caused. We have reviewed all of the project plan submissions and ratified the proposal to convert Gaza Strip into Gaza Strip Club. The first two constructions sites will be Beit Hanoun and Beit Jalla where we will be building the first two clubs: The Camel's Hump and the Donkey's Tale. Demolitions should be starting soon and the establishments will opened as soon as possible under new management. These will be many new job opportunities. We will be looking at long lines in checkpoints and border crossing for WAITERs with extensive experience. We will also need a lot of Gaza STRIPPERs and experience is not necessary but will have to know how to dance and climb up a pole. So come join us and have a blast in this explosive environment. This opportunity is dynamite and shouldn't be missed. The initiative will be called the NEW QASSAM LAUNCH.
