1. Pathetic
This fictional character is so utterly one-dimensional. Yair Lapid, you could have tried harder.

2. Remove the launchers and save a life
B"H
This is a bizarre environment of war. The child knows those who manufacture Kassam rockets which are fired against Israel and Sderot.
That practice is externally funded and putting his life at risk.
The practice of mercenary missile manufacture in Gaza and firing at Sderot needs to be stopped to protect this boy's life.
Quote #1
I have an advantage. I get to places faster on my skateboard than people do on foot. I got there before everyone on that day and I know it sounds insane, but the first thing I thought was that the blood all over the place made it a really slick skateboarding surface.
Ahmed is my mom’s younger brother. This means that he has more patience than most people for my nonsense. He cut my skateboard in the basement shop of those who assemble the pipes. I told him that it needs to be at least 76 centimeters, the minimum for a regulation size board. He laughed and asked ‘regulation for what?’
Quote #2
If I remain here they’ll kill me like they killed Suleiman and Aaliya and two other kids from my class. And then there will be no skateboarders at all in Gaza.

3. Way to go kid!!!
If only the Palestinian militants would think more about their children's future, instead of thinking how their gonna kill the next Jewish kid, this kid would have a good chance to be a big skateborad star!!!
I wish you the best, don't give up on your dream!

8. My wish
I wish there was a way to take all the innocent children away from harm and send them to a safe place where they could play and hope and dream. A place to ride your board or ride a bike or play with dolls. In safety. If only the adults would think of the kids too.

11. Well, it is a good story
I would expect now, however, from Mr. Lapid to write same kind of story about a boy in Jerusalem, whose mother was killed and whose friends were injured by the Palestinians. Or how about a story of a Gush Katif girl losing her limbs together with several other friends at a school bus bombing and how she lives after that? Oh, silly me. The settlers don't deserve compassion. They deserve to be "taught a lesson". Good going, Mr. Lapid. Keep up.

12. Why publish BS?
Mr skateboarder whines about his disadvantages. Its all BS. If this kid saw blood it was likely that he spilled it.
You desverve nothing you didn't earn. whinny welfare brat.
Oh but wait this article is not written by a child, but an adult. It is Pallyworld propaganda. Like a Palestinian has western values and a skateboard. BS I tell you. Same goes you whinny welfare pr†ck who wrote this and passed it off as a child's writting.
Stop messing with our heads to gain a foothold-Mr Pallyworld.

13. Does he represent the only Palestinian interested in peace ?
YNET should verify their sources this is supposed to be a News outlet with facts no fairy tales. The long ones is obviously a reference to Yair Lapid lying nose.
I understand he wants to put a human face on the Palestinian suffering, but feel he could do that without resorting to this level of fiction

15. The Metaphor of the Skateboard
Palestinian children need wings, they want to be free from violence and occupation. They have had enough of politics and bloodshed.
END the occupation for children's sake. Rob them of their land and you rob them of their dreams.

16. Blame the Palestinians for using child soldiers
What do you call it when children are recruited to plant bombs?
What do you call it when children are recruited to smuggle weapons?
What do you call it when children are recruited to throw rocks at soldiers while someone else shoots at them?
What do you call it when children are given automatic weapons and indoctrinated with hatred?
What do you call it when children are taught to want to commit suicide?
And then the Israelis are blamed for the deaths that result.
http://memri.org/bin/articles.cgi?Page=archives&Area=sd&ID=SP37602
There are definitely Palestinian kids who don't want to die. But the society they live in tells them that they must want to become martyrs, so this kid is becoming less realistic all the time.
Who is to blame when the Palestinians use child soldiers and those kids get killed in the crossfire? The world blames Israel. But you know better.

20. Jennifer; Your stupidity and ignorance is astouding.
First of all the Hamass terrorists kill these Arab children by using them as human shields.
It's the Hamass terrorists who murder Jewish children on purpose.

21. BS Lies. No web address for the blog.
I can make up stories that tug at the heart too. This author needs to banned from ever publishing anything ever again. He insults our intellengce by not providing the web address. This confirms that Ynet is far from a repudable news outlet. Shame on you, shame shame shame!

25. blogs, lies, la la la
To all those of you complaining one way or another about this story:
1) It's unlikely this is actually a verbatim copy of some kid's blog. Especially when that kid (through the author) admits he has limited computer access.
2) The fact that this is a made-up story in no diminishes its value.
3) James, you live in Ohio (or so you say). There's a huge difference between living far away in perfect safety (I say this because I lived in America 24 years) and making up a story like this and living here, in the middle of it, seeing such regrettable things happen and having people put it in your name. I'm sure you could still write a heart-rending story, it just wouldn't be as authentic. That said, to say that someone should be completely banned from ever publishing anything again, just because you're criticizing it is, well...stupid.
4) To those of you who argue that Hamas treats its own people/children badly, too, allow me to quote: "The angrier they get about children that are killed, the worse they behave towards children who are alive." Go back and read it again, carefully this time.

27. most of Palestinians interest in peace.
Actually, most of palestinians interest in peace; it is a need to rebuild their destryed life. All what you see on TV are emotional signs of living under fire, either israeli and local. While people in Israel can call for help from their government, people in Palestine don't find any one to help them. So, peace is a very interest to most of us, actually it is our way to future.

30. skate or die
i think it's probably true; and if so, i would want to contact/meet this kid. i somewhat know where he's coming from: i try to be a good jew; yet want to get more into skating, maybe even go pro in the long run. and most adults i know don't take skateboarding seriously. a project i have in mind is to create an amature skate team of mixed ethnicity; jews, arabs, christians, maybe even a hindi or something. contact if you are interested in speaking
