Do you know how to read English? Do you understand it? Obviously not. "One of the only countries" does not mean THE only country. Learn how to read, then talk.

You do realize that a correlation is a RELATIONSHIP between two or more things and NEVER proves cause and effect? Look up correlation and find out what it means before you go around with your uneducated ways.
33. Circumcision
Lisa Hamilton ,   Annapolis, MD   (12.04.06)
I have been in the medical field 20 years. It is my understanding that one of the functions of the foreskin is to protect the very tender skin underneath and the tip of the penis. This foreskin, of course, is also loaded with nerves which contribute to the man's pleasure. The possession of a foreskin keeps the tip of the penis soft and moist and unfortunately, more vulnerable to the penetration of viruses. This is not merely a matter of cleanliness, though good hygeine is always desirable. The uncircumcised man's skin would be more like that of a woman's vaginal tissue. Men who are circumcised develop a bit of callus on the skin from friction of their clothing which doesn't interfere with pleasure, but makes the skin more imperveous to viruses and bacteria. This is medical knowledge, not opinion.
34. Problem with URL in #23
Arnie ,   Washington, DC, USA   (12.09.06)
The URL as posted won't work, but is OK if you cut off everything after "pdf". I have not read it carefully as yet, but the most obvious point is that the study was not (and obviously can't be) blinded, so both the subjects and the investigators knew which subjects were in the intervention and the control groups. It is possible that this knowledge influenced either the behavior or the truthfulness of the subjects.
35. Terrible cost/benefit
Hugh ,   Wellington, New Zeal   (12.22.06)
Even if the latest study is correct, they would have to circumcise 56 men to prevent one man contracting HIV. The money, time and expertise could be far better spent on education, condoms, treating ulcerative disease and preventing malaria, both HIV co-factors. Circumcising men will make it easier for them to demand unprotected sex - it disempowers women.

38. Finally after 25 years!
Gerald N. Weiss ,   Fort Collins   (12.24.06)
As a hobby, for over 25 years, I've researched and written about PROPHYLACTIC SURGERY in the form of neonatal circumcision. See: http://www.geocities.com/gnaphw/index.html. At long last with WHO and other organizations finally accepting scientific proof, the fact of the value of circumcision in HIV/AIDS prevention is being made public.
39. URL Correction
Gerald N. Weiss, M.D ,   USA   (02.08.07)
The Dr. G. N. Weiss site [URL] regarding circumcision can be located at either www.drweiss.org or yahoo.geocities.com/gnaphw.
40. CIRCUMCISION

#38 Kindly correct Web site to read: http://www.gnweissmd.com Replace the current one which is in error. Many thanks, GNW
41. Totally BIASED
As Nature Intended ,   USA   (08.29.09)
It sounds like this group wants to make others look like them, biased information and inaccurate. Circumcision to prevent HIV is misguided and will backfire! Circumcision doesn't prevent HIV - CONDOMS DO!
42. Circumcision stopping AIDS?
Steve C ,   Surrey, Canada   (08.05.11)
That study was so flawed, anything they found from it doesn't mean ZIP! Only way to truly prevent HIV is condoms and abstinence.
