1. inmigrants
(11.28.06)
also many inmigrants from the west aren't able to purchase even a car of their own. While help is in place, pleace treat each one plight's separately. for a 14 member family with litlle formal western education definately 1 1/2 years of absorption centre sounds a joke
2. Oh please - do me a favour!
Isabella ,   Israel   (11.28.06)
Funny how thousands of new immigrants find their feet and go and get JOBS!!! Her oldest is 25? why can't he work? Sorry, not feeling too sorry for them. If they want to live in New York, BA'BYE NOW, don't let the door hit you on the way out!
3. Disgusting behavour
Michael Ben Raphael ,   Tel Aviv   (11.28.06)
What next, The President is being charged with rape, the PM is under investigation for fraud, He is also suurendering to terrorists, and now we cant even supply are fellow Jews with the basic neccesities. This goverment is so morally bankrupt, i am in shock. Truly discusting behavior.
4. If This is the Same Knesset That Tossed the Jews Out Of Gaza
H ,   Jerusalem   (11.28.06)
and Amona, don't expect them to help you. Over 10,000 Jews were thrown out on the streets last year and most of them are still having problems.
5. expectations and complaining
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.28.06)
at least these immigrants (olim) get money and other assistance. as a goy immigrant, it would be nice to get such government subsidies. i get nothing, but that's what i expected. of course things should be better, but be glad for what you get because some people get all of the trouble and none of the benefits. especially when you're not one of the "in" crowd.
6. Israel wants mass aliyah!
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.28.06)
A Jewish family with 12 kids should be a demographic asset, doncha' think? Guess not. If you don't belong to the favored, protected, politically-correct desired population, you're not welcome.
7. STATEMENT
Tomer Davids   (11.28.06)
STATEMENT..................... There is no child in the whole of the State of Israel, and this includes Arab or Jew, in the territories or not, that will not have dinner tonight. Every child has a home. There are no empoverished citizens in the State of Israel. Some people might not be as fortunate as the next, however for sure, no one has ever starved in Israel. Perhaps these people that thought best to emmigrate to the State of Israel should direct their anger at the countries whom were unable to entertain their requirments from the start.
8. Immigrants
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (11.28.06)
New York was heaven???? What are y'all doing to those poor people? Instead of throwing money at the problem, why not spend the money on education and job training? Give a fish to a man today, and he'll be hungry again tomorrow. Teach him how to fish, and he can feed himself. Just don't make our mistake and give him a boat, too. We learned that, once the man had a boat, all he wanted to do was sit in the middle of the lake and drink beer all day. :-)
9. Uh, and they expected better from New York?
Eli ,   Seattle, WA   (11.28.06)
Last time I checked, America doesn't hand out multi-year assistance packages to new immigrants, either. What did they think they'd have received in New York (other than a list of Help Wanted ads - the American tradition!)
10. 3 what's disgusting?
Isabella ,   Israel   (11.28.06)
People should not chose to come and live in Israel for the hand-outs. There are thousands of Ethiopians who are working and doing their army service. Why should Yemenites be any different? Let Satmar Hassidim pay for the lot of them to go and live and sponge off the New York welfare department. Let's see how well they fair over there. What is disgusting is that they came to live here because they were told they'd have a place to live and a good life? We don't need any more spongers here in Israel, we have enough of them already.
11. Your histadrut at work....
Adam Admati ,   Israel   (11.28.06)
The Jewish Agency points a finger at the Ministry of Absorbtion and they blame the Treasury and they blame the Knesset, and so on and so on... Nbn only wants to help religious ashkenaz settlers... Successful immigration means selling your soul.
12. And you'll be fools to stay !
fadi ,   lebanon   (11.28.06)
13. i thought olmert said " all is fine" at home front!
fadi ,   lebanon   (11.28.06)
14. And Ynet last week article talked about "Bright future" !
fadi ,   lebanon   (11.28.06)
15. Yemenite Jews: Don't Complain. You Should Be Happy
Esther ,   Ashdod   (11.28.06)
that this Zionist government didn't kidnap your babies and allowed your children to stay religious, wear their kipot and peyot, keep kosher and Shabbat. You are lucky you did not immigrate to Israel 60 years ago where the situation was just the opposite - very painful.
16. for mike in israel #5
soren ,   ny, usa   (11.28.06)
i read ur comments alot. U said you were not jewish yet moved to Israel. Can u tell me why. I am curious. Tks
17. Abdullah
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (11.28.06)
Looking at the picture of Abdullah at the top of the talkbacks, I now know what happened to the tie-backs for my drapes. The man seems to be wearing every last one of them and then some. I want to see his hands. Maybe it'll solve the mystery of Michael Jackson's missing glove. Sorry, your Majesty, but you're overdoing that Scarlett O'Hara thing just a bit.
18. Please wait and see
Arie ,   Afula   (11.28.06)
It i our current "leadership" that has created a nightmare situation not just for new immigrants, but for all of us. They will be leaving soon for their new homes - olmert to gaza city, peretz to paris, and peres to damascus and so on. So be patient! All will be well soon!
19. Israel better get it together or you will lose the country!
Al   (11.28.06)
20. Staement from #7
Yves ,   Haifa IL   (11.28.06)
I don't know where you live, but 25% of the Israeli population lives under the poverty line in Israel. That line was recently reduced to ~4000NIS (~$930US) for a family of four, so that the government could reduce the numbers of people living under the poverty line. That's only $54 per week per person! If you have to pay for rent, electricity, gas, taxes, clothing and basic necessities like busfare, how much of that money is left for food???? New immigrants coming here without language or work skills or connections, need a lot of support if we are going to entice them to come here and go through the trauma of turning their lives upside down. Immigrants are usually harder working than settled populations but they need guidance, support, training and opportunities.
21. Fadi - you are a pain the ***
Simcha ,   Israel   (11.28.06)
I'm sure you have enough domestic problems in Lebanon, why don't you go and try to sort them out and leave our problems to us. Run along now. Be a good child.
22. Fadi go F.... your self
(11.28.06)
23. #15 Mizrahi Discrimination Is Still Here
Shas ,   Israel   (11.28.06)
This is sadly another case where it exposes the continuation of Mizrahi discrimination. Sick Hopefully Shas will have a reamurgance, dont know if Yishai should leave or what, but there needs to be better leadership within the Mizrahi sector.
24. To #9
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (11.28.06)
It seems, they've been to New York. If they think that place has any resemblance to heaven, it's obvious that Bloomberg and Pataki have been holding out on the rest of the country, and we need to check that out. I win first prize and will go for one week. You win second prize and will have to stay one month. You go first and tell me all about it. :-)
25. government needs to stop lying about the situation
Ralph ,   London   (11.28.06)
The situation is DIRE. Doesn't matter if you have a profession or not, Yemeni or any nationality. You can forget about finding work, an the support is just enough to keep body and soul together (if you enjoy living in anxiety and uncertainty about where your next meal is coming from, Israel is a hot recommendation). Former oleh
26. to Tomer Davids
Ralph ,   London   (11.28.06)
TD: you are full of it - I starved for a whole month and had literally nothing to eat. There are people begging on the streets, and many people don't have two shekels to rub together. You are either a liar or have no idea what's going on.
27. Yemen
Barry   (11.28.06)
Yemen has a per capita annual income of $900 as well as an average IQ of only 83. That said Lebanon also has a low averrage IQ as can be seen from Fadi
28. For bigot Isabella and her pals
Paul ,   Austin, TX USA   (11.28.06)
What's really disgusting is that Israel turns a blind eye to real Jews like these and would rather import people of VERY dubious Jewish origin from Russia since they're blonde and Europeanized and therefore more desirable than these brown skinned people who look far too much like Arabs for your pathetic comfort. The bigoted legacy of medinat yisrael is too garish to ignore, and it will only continue like this until the last non-ashkenazi Jew is suckered in the name of demographics. Nahari's mistake was to be duped by golden calf that is the Jewish agency. She was exploited, and I would gladly support the Satmar in aiding them and the numeous others in their position. Israel is no longer a place for Jews to live, but only to die and suffer at each others hands.
29. Is this not the same Israel Gov't responsible
Harry   (11.28.06)
Is this not the same Israel Gov't that has stolen Yemenite Children from their parents and told them they are dead in order to cultivate them in a non religious environment ??? The sadness of the yemenite Parents are unbearable. Those responsible for their misfortunes are a bunch of low lifes worse than animals. PS the Gov't has not changed throw the rascals out olmert peretz and Halutz
30. to no 12 Fati, sorry fadi
from Philippe   (11.28.06)
yes you are fools, go to a much nicer country, just in the beginnings of a bloody civil war, a country which has no leader ship, the beautiful country of Hizboland, sorry, Lebanon
