32. ralph
tomer   (11.28.06)
Ralf, or Ralph, you may well be one of lifes real losers, apolgies for that, but, again I reiterate, there are children in israel without food. And with a name like ralf, stick to driving a bus
33. SO GO BACK AND BE SECOND CLASS CITIZENS
andrew ,   MIAMI,FL   (11.28.06)
34. Why dont the Satmars rent them a flat here!
Jerusalem, Israel   (11.28.06)
Why don't they help them in Israel? And why after 3 years are they still in an absorption center? We stayed 2 weeks and our Aliyah money was gone in a month, and we are still here 3.5 years later.
35. #2 Isabella (Re: do me a favor)
Monk ,   USA   (11.28.06)
I agree with you, everyone should work; do something. On the other hand, when I was in Israel studying in Yeshiva, I found Ashkenazi Jews separated themselves from Sephardic in the dinning hall. I would sit with the Sephardic and one young man asked me why I would eat with the Sephardic and not the Ashkenazi? To me this is shameful. Aren't we all Jews? Why do some Ashkenazi disdain or hold themselves superior to their fellow Jew? This is not right. Are Yemeni Jews lessor Jews? No.
36. 27 - Yemen - Lebanon and Fadi

38. Re: Mike / #5
Morris   (11.28.06)
Mike, it's the Jewish state. You should've known what you were getting into before you came. And if you didn't, certainly now you do. It's flattering that you've chosen to live there, but Israel isn't America: in terms of immigration, Jews are favored.
39. The Immigrant face-off
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (11.28.06)
It takes 2 to 3 years for an adult to sufficiently learn a foreign language and 5 to 10 years to master it. It also takes at least 2 years for adjustment to a new culture. Successful immigration has to be a partnership between the immigrant and his host country. It seems to me that both sides of this partnership have failed horribly. The Jewish Agency for making exaggerated promises, filling quotas, and walking away; and the immigrants for not doing everything possible to move their own mentality over to a new world. The Jewish Agency needs to concentrate on helping immigrants find suitable jobs - not just getting them here. The government needs to enforce higher minimum wages and low cost trades training. The immigrant needs to embrace Israel - not the "free" Satmar apartment in New York.
40. Jews from Yemen...
Simo ,   Silo   (11.28.06)
and from all around the world should go back to their lands of origin immidiately beacause these people are suffering and causing better suffer to the actual owners of this country. So back my friends!
41. False Promises
semsem ,   New York, USA   (11.28.06)
Israel should not give false promises. They would have been better off staying in Yemen or in New York.
42. get a job. rent an apt. what's the problem?

45. Immigrants
Dan ,   Israel   (11.28.06)
Israel has since 1948 received approximately 2,5 million Jewish olim. The mass aliya from Yemen after the reestablishment of Israel, received far less than spoiled immigrants today. Neverthelss, the overwhelming majority of the Yemeni Jewish olim as well as other Jewish olim have managed to build a nice life and future in Israel. Go back to the Yemeni "paradise" if Israel is so bad. It takes hard work, education, work and will to build a good life, regardless if it is in Israel or in the US and it is obvious that some individuals are not fit for taking responsibility of their own lifes. No one gets anything in New York without work and without a job and a green card you will be kicked out.
46. Ralph you whinging pom
Jay ,   Israel   (11.28.06)
Ralph, if you were starving for a whole month why didnt you go clean houses for money?. I dont feel sorry for lazy bastards that dont want to get off their fat asses and work, like you. The few people you see begging on the street are either drug addicts, drunks or mentally unstable.......not olim that are starving. I think you are the lair and have no idea whats going on. By the way, i did aliyah from Australia 2 years ago , get the same treatment yet never starved a day. Sure life is tough here but im sick of people like you that just want handouts.
47. I still believe Fadi is a student at Hebrew or Tel Aviv Univ
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (11.28.06)
48. #32 Hungry children in the US
Dan ,   Israel   (11.28.06)
Yes there is poverty in Israel just like everywhere which we have to address and solve as soon as possible. most of the poverty will be eliminated with education, work, work and more work since most poor are not working. The employment rate is steadily increasing in Israel which will soon significantly reduce the poverty. Most people in Israel live normal lives with a western standard of living and you will find hungry children in Europe and the US as well.
49. Re: Fadi
Fadi the Fool ,   Washington DC   (11.28.06)
The name "Fadi" means "empty" or, by extention, "stupid" in Arabic. "Kalaam fadi" is "empty talk" or "stupid talk." Fadi lives in so-called Lebanon, the country that proves that Arabs cannot live peacefully with anyone on the planet, not even with other Arabs.
50. fadi=borat

51. #34 Is Satmar the Israeli Knesset
H ,   Jerusalem   (11.28.06)
that they have to provide everyone with homes? Try getting the rich Tel-Avivians to rent them flats. Why have you picked Satmar and not Sefardic Jews or any other group of Jews?
52. Meaning of Fadi
CJ ,   Canada   (11.28.06)
I think you're confusing 2 different names, one does mean "empty" but Fadi in this case means "The Saviour" By the way, even though it's a "Christian" name many Muslims use it. If that's not an example of harmony and goodwill, I don't know what is. At the risk of sounding like a walking contradiction, I'm a Palestinian Lebanese Maronite Arab - just shoot me
53. #42 Dan - the poor will always be with us BUT
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (11.28.06)
You make a good arguement. There are poor and hungry people in every country in the world. The difference here is that these families were brought here intentionally - as part of the ideology of our nation. They came with no context, little or no language skills and few cultural variables. They left behind all that was familiar. They came on the wings of promises made by a government and an agency. To leave them stranded after 1.5 years, with nothing and nowhere to live - THAT'S inexcusable.
54. #36
israeli ,   israel   (11.28.06)
You're right, and that is 0.
55. yemen
Neal ,   Los Angeles USA   (11.28.06)
This is a shameful situation. The Govt should feel embarrased for letting such a thing happen to any new immigrants. Maybe they should stop letting all these lowlifes from eastern europe from coming into to Israel on fake papers claiming they are jewish , in which caes they are not, and sucking up precious money that can be used for real jews. Where are the orthodox in a time like this? They should help this yemen family out too? One last question during the recent Lebanon war people here in the states sent more than 330 million $ to Israel, where the heck did this money go? To buy muzzuzout for the doors of govt officials? no wonder these poor people are suffering.
56. to Ralph
bobbi   (11.28.06)
Ralph, I know you, I remember you - you were the poof from london who was worried about getting your shoes dirty, thats right. And now I want to say sorry that I wouldnt cuddle you when your mother phones to say your cat had passed away. Ralph, it was just a CAT! Anyhow I love Israel, but Israel is for workers, pioneers, not lazy lazy dikwads like ralphy boy. BTW, do you still intend to take over from yoru fathers shoe lace manufacturers? Bobbi
57. #51 Satmar
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.28.06)
According to the article, the Satmars were the ones who got them out of Yemen. The Satmar organization "Rav Tov" is the only Jewish organization that is allowed to operate in Yemen.
58. #2#4--totally agree and these freeloaders
mitnahelet ,   shomron   (11.28.06)
should or go back to Yemen or back to NY--why do ppl think they r doing us and Isr a favor by moving here...nobody owes immigrants anything but some basic assistance in the first year or 2. After that--get that 25y old ass off the couch and to a gas pumping station. What r they contributing to the society? if they r uneducated, do not want to work(yes-if u have no education u should be doing "blue collor" jobs)and just sit around and expect assistance -then why do we need them here? Let the satmars or whoever else support them...they sound like freeloaders and parazites!!!
