1. Hamas failed the Palestinians - doing Iran's bidding
Rather than build schools, improve economy, establish civil institutions Hamas turned Gaza into Somalia-like terrorist camp with lawlessness clan warfare. Hamas continues to serve Syrian and Iranian interests which have nothing to do with Palestinian interests. They are insterested in using the Palestinians as fodder for their insane plans for domination of the Middle East. Once again, the Palestinians made a great choice by chosing foreign interests over their own. Moderates, if there are any left in Gaza, need to demand accountability and to kick Iran's agents out the PA. Time to decide what they want for their children - is it peace or continuing conflict? Israelis have again extended their hand in peace - ceasefire, exchange of prisoners, lifting of defensive roadblocks. They even withdrew from Gaza and turned over Gaza-Egypt border to the PA in a bid to bolster Abbas and show good faith. So far they got nothing in return but more of the same hate, Quassams and smuggling.

2. Palestinians selling their own interests out to Syrian/Iran.
Israel has done everything it can be reasonably expected to do to give PA a chance. Instead they got more of the same - talk of annihilation, kidnappings, terror etc. Hamas government has proven a disaster for the Palestinians and has lost most of their support. Gaza has collapsed into clan warfare and lawlessness. Even as corrupt as Fatah was, the Palestinians are realizing it was a better alternative to the agents of Iran and Syria, which is what Hamas is. Even now, Olmert has offered the best alternative to them, more than anyone could expect and they are still not happy. They want more, including non-starters like the right of return. Why? Because Hamas (or Hezbollah) do not want peace. Peace means responsibility to the people, good governance, building up relations. Once again, the Palestinians interests are not important to their "friends" Syria and Iran

3. WHICH FOOL THOUGHT THAT THE SMUGGLING WOULD EVER STOP???

4. DUHHHHH
Whenever the enemy wants to sign a truce that's the point to press on.

5. despite!! so you ceased fire to stop smuggling
and you are waging war to stop smuggling. I would propose another easy solution: change the word smuggling or change your perception of the deed "smuggling".

7. The World is Mashugana
Right is now wrong...Wrong is now right. Kadima pats itself on the back for a war they didnt win, that made Israel less safe and now a truce that allows the Gazanimals to reload with Hizbullah style weapons. And meanwhile, all Olmert can think about is expelling more Jews from their homes. The World is nuts.

10. Anglican "Archbishop" Tutu: "I love the smell of it ..."
I think this was the guy who, commenting on "necklacing," the charming procedure of placing a gasoline-soaked tire around someone's neck and setting it on fire, said "I love the smell of it."

11. Dam Yehudi Lo Hefker?
"IDF sources told WND the Israeli army Sunday had identified seven militants about to launch rockets into Israel, but due to changed rules of engagement in response to the ceasefire, IDF forces were prohibited from taking out the rocket crews."
I can't wait till the next "Never Again"
rally. We never learn.

12. What would Hamas do with themselves
if they didn't have the goal of destroying Israel? They would be sooooooo bored, they'd actually have to concentrate on helping their people build a nation.
I await the day when the palesinians take to the streets to demand that their leaders provide them with a more positive goal other than the destruction of Israel, like providing good public education, profitable infrastructure, economic security, etc. After 60 years, Israel is thriving and there still is NO PALESTINE. It is high time the palestinians hold their leaders to account.

13. In other news, sun rises in the east...
the fact that weapons are smuggled is a no-brainer.
Who thought it was gonna be different? I nominate such believers to give up their claim to a brain, they obviously have lost the user's manual.
It's always the same story. Israel makes some silly deal with Palestinians, and abide by it. The Palestinians meanwhile don't and when they are called on it, they blame 'the Zionist occupation' and the world sympathizes...this lead to UNHRC to condemn Israel (condemned, ironically, by real human rights abusers) and around we go.
My opinion? call black black and white white. There is no gray here. Either they want peace or they don't. Everything they do suggests the latter.
They know the conditions for peace and they refuse. What can Israel do?
I say stop 'disengaging'. It has only bolstered terror. New elections called NOW and let's elect a govt that ACTUALLY protects Israeli interests rather than plays nice with world opinion

Waiting for Tutu to save the day.... (who thought that was a good idea to have him investigate? this is getting farcical)

14. I Am Shocked, Shocked!
It is imperative that Olmert ask them to please stop acting this way! How could this have happened? Israel had a promise. Who would in their wildest dreams would think the Gazanians would act in this manner?

15. HOW IS THIS A SURPRISE?!?
Any sane person in the world with a gram of common sense should have realized the palis will not respect the ceasefire that they themselves begged for. Rockets are still falling. Weapons are still being transferred. Tunnels are still being dug. Why is Israel cursed with this pathetic government?

21. #1 to #19 agreement is agreement
this issue was not included in the cease-fire truce. So, why all this fuss, another provocation ! Israel broke the truce by the shelling in Beit Lahia, and incursions in the W.B. Palestinians are still practicing restraint.
