1. Baker had been "pleasantly surprised" by Bush's reaction
Sam ,   Israel   (12.07.06)
2. That one line.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (12.07.06)
"The PM mentioned that at least two Israeli prime ministers had advocated partial or complete withdrawal from the Golan Heights in the past." Why would he mention that if not to set himself up for a "legite" flip-flop on the issue?
3. A puppet pulled by strings
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.07.06)
Israel chose a weak leader who is incapable of saying no. Israel once again enslaved to another wolrd power which betrays them. Olmert only does what he is told by his master in Washington. No spine to stand on his own and say no . A lap dog rules Israel to a second holocaust. Better seek Hashem while you still can. There is no hope in corrupt, perverted America to save you Israel.
4. Talks With Syria AFTER next war
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (12.07.06)
That's the time to have talks, mostly about Syria giving up claims to Golan. The arabs need another massive defeat like in 1967 so we can have peace for another 20 years. The more we talk about peace, the more aggression we invite. War with Syria is even a good strategic move - it will turn Mr Bakers initiative to screw us into worthless paper. The world likes a winner, something our gov't does not understand.
5. BAKER SUPORTS THE ENNEMIES OF AMERICA
(12.07.06)
6. Who is even consulting with Olmert???
Harry   (12.07.06)
Israel has become the laughing stock of the world. By expeling 10,000 of its own that no other country in its right mind would do, and in the craziest of circumstances israel has invited just more presure even from its ally the US. Just wait until the next Administration comes in. May the Almighty help us. Olmert Peretz Halutz get out before its to late.
7. Olmert had promissed surrender and is delivering on it.
AK   (12.07.06)
Israel is being betrayed, just like the Czechs were before and Jews are being led once again by self-deluded, weak Judenrat types, like Olmert and Israel's Left. And remember, it started with Oslo --once concession after another, until there is nothing but the sea left. Olmert, the disgusting, weak man is leading Israeli Jews right into the cattle cars. That man does not even begin to understand the meaning of the words like honor and integrity.
8. ANYTHING & EVERYTHING Olmert says..Read the OPPOSITE
malcolm   (12.07.06)
Nothing that billows forth from his mouth is true. He is the master of bullshit.
9. James Baker: CEO “Have Wars Will Travel” is back.
Getzel ,   Washington, DC   (12.07.06)
In the middle east there are two kinds of people: the strong and the intimidated. Either: convert to ethanol fuel or convert to Islam; those are Israel’s/America's options. Archer Daniel made millions selling ethanol for $1.00 per gallon in the 1990s; Brazil is energy independent, they import no oil; No argument against ethanol can trump these two facts. For what we spend bringing a democratically elected “theo-crazy" in Iraq we could have been energy independent in America. Domestically produced ethanol is: cleaner burning, balances the trade deficit, creates full employment in the USA, can be produced without monopolies in control of the supply, balances the budget, brings full employment, reduces the demand for oil to the point that oil sells for less than $8/bbl, which cuts off the supply of petro-dollars which is the source of funding for terrorist nations like Iran and Saudi Arabia. By 1991 I was writing; Hafez Assad to Jim Baker “ Why sure Jim, If you can get Israel to return the Golan before we annihilate them, why sure we will attend a PIECE ( pictured with the weapons/“pieces” we would sell Syria) conference”…The song remains the same.
10. Olmert and the Hamilton Baker report
Rendy Gaspar ,   Philadelphia USA   (12.07.06)
I fully agree with AK who expressed very eloquently what many jews from all over the world feel. The actual Israel leaders are a real embarassement for all of us. If israeli voted for them now israeli have to repair their mistakes and to ask for new election.
11. you will talk Olmert...
Merlin ,   USA   (12.07.06)
you will talk with anyone. this year or the next. because the master says so. you just need some time to sell it to your people... if you don't want to, too bad... you will have to want to.
12. Blair should be Boycotted as a Response

15. Prediction years ago
Sam WEinstein ,   USA   (12.07.06)
I made a prediction in a paper years ago that the US would backstab Israel and put unbelievable pressure on israel for compromise. The result was a pre-empted attack on israel. This report will cause another war not prevent it
16. #15 I meant to say pre-empted attack by israel
Sam Weinstein ,   USA   (12.07.06)
#15 I meant to say pre-empted attack by israel
17. #15 Baker is being completely honest
Mark ,   USA   (12.07.06)
Bush feels the same way but he needs Baker to be the "bad" guy. Baker is at least honest and direct. I admire anyone that is 100% honest.
18. Bush is the enemy of Israel.
Mark ,   USA   (12.07.06)
19. talks with syria
sas ,   israel   (12.07.06)
Mr. Prime Minister. I think you are making a big mistake by not taking the advantage now and begin talks with Syria. Start talking words of PEACE and not only words of WAR. Be a leader...............have some vision and courage. DO SOMETHING. The country is simply deteriorating in every direction.
20. #19 A voice of reason. I agree!!
Mark ,   USA   (12.07.06)
Bush was opposed to Israel talking to Syria. Bush wanted Israel to attack Syria during the Lebanon war. Olmert must Not listen to Bush.
