31. #11 Must Disagree with you
Kissel   (12.19.06)
East Jerusalem will never be a part of any Peace deal, and if the Palestinians want to do all of the nice things you have said, like stop starving, then they can do that NOW. Stop their fighting, cause kids can't even go to school without being shot or kidnapped by Fatah or Hamas. WHY DOESN'T IT START THERE HUH? All off the things you said can be acheived, but your brothers are going CRAZY. The only way the uneducated get money is by joining a Malitia, and with the Gazans shooting kids on the way to school, how will they learn? And when learning is 50% incitement, how can there be any good ripe fruit coming from the tree? Khalid, your position comes from one who threatens with Terrorism and blows things up in place of dialogue, and when there are so many people that represent this point of view, unfortunately no agreements or solutions can be solved, because if you do not get MORE than you deserve, then things will start blowing up! It is unfortunate that the TransJordanians have come up with this lie of a State. When you create something from nothing, then all of the wrinckles have to be worked out, all of the T's must be crossed. And if the rest of the World does not beleive your lie, blow them up. It's pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep your terrorism, keep your HATE, and keep your lies, and enjoy them for all they are worth to you, because they appear to be very important for the lost tribes of the TransJordanian people. You can have all those nice things you said if start right now with what you have.
32. #11 I hear you Khalid
J K ,   NYC, USA   (12.19.06)
I hear you and would like to believe you. For the most part, people all over the world want the same as anyone else. Peace, security and prosperity. Israel has this for the most part (although under threat of some surrounding countries and Hezbollah and your elected goverment). My only issue is who the so-called Palestinians keep on electing to run their affairs? Arafat? A complete disaster who lied to and stole from his own people and answered any Israeli willingness to talk of any peace with an intifada here and suicide bombings there. And after him? Powerless Abbas who cant get anything done and then the election of Hamas who's reign has brought a cessation of international investments and only more terror both to Israel and its own people with all the factional infighting. All this is untenable, mostly for the arabs forced to live under these conditions which you (not you personally) can no longer blame Israel for. This is an Arab mess. And then to come to a country you may not like but that IS part of the UN and say, to hell with negotiating outside the framework of UNSCR 242, the ONLY enforceable UN resolution dealing with this, and say, give us 100% and maybe you can have up to 20 years of rest....come on. Thats just dumb. I believe you when you say that the majority of the people would welcome peaceful times regardless of the bad feelings that Israel stole from them or whatever. When people are living better then tend to let old grudges receed into the past. However, the masses which we in the west NEVER see protesting for peace with Israel or an end to the hostilities, only demands do NOT hold the reigns of government (as the Hamas govt isnt really answerable to the people) and do not have the weapons needed to enforce any silly offers such as the one Hamas is offering. I would love to try 15 years of peace....if only the inmates were running the asylum.
33. Khalid, number 11, if you are sincere then I am truly sorry.
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (12.19.06)
Your leadership has raped your people and their aspirations for generations, and blamed it all on the Jews. My hope is that all the thugs, thieves and killers wipe each other out, so the silenced minority of Palestinians who truly want to co-exist in peace can actually start building a modern civilzed society. In the meantime, Israel cannot possibly entertain a worthless offer from a terrorist who is incapable of keeping his word for even 60 minutes with his own brethren. Ma-a-sallaam, habibi, Shalom.
34. 20-year truce!? LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
stephane ,   france   (12.19.06)
those fanatics are not able to respect the truce 20 minutes and now they talk about 20 years........ah ah ah!!!!!! i love arab humor!!!
35. Haniyeh's haggling is akin to crying "Uncle!"
USA   (12.19.06)
Hamas hardly has any bargaining chips left, having blown their opportunity to govern instead of sowing strife. Haniyeh is a poor excuse for a leader and doesn't deserve to be bargained with. Hamas is in full damage mode and has clearly failed its people. It's corrupt leaders can haggle all they want; no amount of Hudna-begging will pull them out of their self-induced civic mess now.
36. Only an idiot like Olmert will buy this 20 year truce BS
RA   (12.19.06)
37. to Khalid
Noa   (12.19.06)
why not say: " the Hamas is willing to recognize the state of Israel, the Hamas will lay down their arms, stop all fighting and terror against Israel, let's sit down together and make peace, for the sake of our children's future, and all the suffering of both of our people........, no more war!" i asure you, you will can a very positive reaction from all of us talkbakists here. unfortunately, that's not what he is saying, he is playing some games, and we don't trust him! maybe your intentions are good, but sorry, this is not how a leader of desperate people, should make his appeal for peace.
38. How about peace for 20 years to prove you deserve a state?
USA   (12.19.06)
39. #1 jellybean
Patrick ,   Quebec city (Canada)   (12.19.06)
Absolutly right!
40. kyle asks 'who is so stupid to sign'' answer: OLMERT
dacon9   (12.19.06)
41. Peace for 20 years......? what do
Dave   (12.19.06)
you think Haniye, we're idiots?
42. Iran is up to this
Jay ,   Israel   (12.19.06)
Assad and Haniyeh both go to Iran for talks and then come back, and all of the sudden they both want a hudna at the same time? Is Iran up to something? This all sound a bit fishy to me as we all know Irans evil obsession with Israels destruction.
43. More to Khalid #11 - good, but...
JPS ,   Israel   (12.19.06)
I agree with some other talkbackers, that Hamas could get what they wanted if they tried non-military means first. Want to release the prisoners? Why not start a hudna first and make a deal - no kassams or suicide bombers or snipers or knifers or molotov cocktails or roadside bombs for 60 days - then Hamas releases Gilad Shalit and Israel releases 500 prisoners. For every month of non-violence, Israel releases another 200 prisoners. That means every year 2400 prisoners are released, but for every year of peace an extra 1000 prisoners are released. That means if there is a real hudna, then within a few years most of the Pal prisoners are freed, the Pals can rebuild their economy, the donor nations will be willing to support you, and, as you say, life will improve so that the Palestinians won't want to go back to the good 'ol days. Then after 3 years, the Pals have to decide in a referendum whether or not to enter into final peace negotiations with Israel. That way, no Hamas government could block the will of the people. Khalid - what Israelis fear is the reality of what "hudna" has meant in the past - what in Yiddish is challed not a cease-fire but a "shees-fire". "Shees", in Yiddish, means shoot.
44. Hey Haniyeh! Here's our deal
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (12.19.06)
You behave yourselves and MAYBE we will think of letting you continue to live where you're living.
45. A 20 year Hudna can be renewed.
Mark ,   USA   (12.19.06)
He is open to the idea of renewing it.
46. No thanks
Micha   (12.19.06)
See that's how it works when you have no power. See how that works?? Israel calls the shots, you do not. You give 20 year peace? How bout you go find another land, like, say, Jordan? That sounds good. And if you don't leave in 1 year, then we send you there. That sounds like a good deal.
47. 20 Years Is *NOT* a Long Time
emanon ,   USA   (12.19.06)
Especially in terms of how long Israel has been around. 20 Years is the blink of an eye to Israel. Like most other posters, I am skeptical of the offer. What gaurantees are being offered? 1967 Borders has many meanings: 1967 *before* or 1967 *after* Jerusalem was reunited with Israel? What show of good faith are the terrorists giving? Why is there a time limitation specified at all? What about the terrorists' own internal conflict: Is this a case of one side saying "Let's make peace" and the other side saying "Lets make war"? What a beautiful set-up: Israel cedes the land and the other terrorist party renegs saying they never agreed to it. No, looks like a Lose / Lose for Israel. Until these, and related questions and issues, are made clear, I would say "No Deal".
48. Sorry, Honey, we can't take your word for it
john ,   nz   (12.19.06)
and we can't give you the benefit of the doubt. Your record for trustworthy is appalling and 1967 borders do not exist...period.
49. The next generation -- Jellybean
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (12.19.06)
We get land and a state, then spend 20 years teaching our kids to kill you and make bombs, then when they are old enough we tell them that the bullsh!t we pull will get results so it starts again. How about, recognize Israel, disarm your militias, stop firing rockets, live for peace and prospertiy and not war, and in return we won't wipe you off the map. Doesn't seem to me like they are in any position to barter, and their international opinion is pretty poor of them. I care more about the NHL season then palestinian rights, they've had chances only to shoot themselves in the foot. Also would this ceasefire and peace be as good as the one now in place. They can't control there population how can they ensure a peace. Jellybean, Da Bears are going out in the first round by my Giants
50. Something fishy here
john ,   nz   (12.19.06)
If 1967 border includes Golan Heights, then it must be the monkey's idea. If the deal goes thru' Iran make sure Israel would not last 20 years.
51. To #11 Khalid
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (12.19.06)
As desparate as you sound for peace, Israel can't change the hearts and attitudes of your leadership. It would only give somebody another excuse to keep fighting. Only you, the Palestinian people, can do that. Only when you realize that you're being used for a few people's political games and enrichment and start to stand up to those people will there be any change. If somebody doesn't put an end to it soon, the PA, instead of consisting of citizens, will be nothing more than a very large collection of criminals, regardless of the names they've been brainwashed into calling themselves. As the saying goes, "We've met the enemy, and he is us."
52. "Hudna??" This is 2006, not 706
Sarit   (12.19.06)
These people have to stop living in the dark ages with their 7th century nonsense.
53. 20 Years
Joe ,   Israel   (12.19.06)
Just watch. Peace Now is going to jump on the bandwagon and say "What a great deal." G-d forbid, but Olmert is just stupid enough to fall for this.
54. Hudna
naftali   (12.19.06)
Khalid, I agree with you that 5-10-20 years of peace can make significant changes to the point where the Palestinians dont want war. However, if Fatah and Hamas cannot hold a truce for 10 minutes, how can Israel trust anything they say? So, Israel goes back to the 67 borders and a week later or a month later, Hamas comes up with some excuse to start hostilities?
55. Response to #11: what does 15 years mean?
Jack ,   San Diego, USA   (12.19.06)
Your thoughts would be noble if fifteen years to the Palestinians indeed meant 15 years. As we see, ceasefires agreed to between the Palestininas and Israelis (and now even between various Palestinian factions) are violated by the Palestinians even before the ink on the agreement is dry. So what does fifteen years mean to a Palestinian?
56. Are you kidding me????????
Natan ,   USA   (12.20.06)
Talk is cheap... To date, the Palestinians did not keep not even one promise they made. They did not keep not even one ceasefire they commited to. Hamas is a terrorist organization commited to Israel's destruction. Haniyeh can't make promises until he is blue in the face. A liar is a liar is a liar!!!
57. you turn down you will lose not
palestine hawk ,   alkods palestine   (12.20.06)
only peace for 15 years but the land that will be liberated piece by piece and the agony of defeat year after year if it wasn't for internal affairs among the people of palestine you wouldn't get such hudna instead there wil be insistance on full palestinan right
58. something very fishy here..........
Saun ,   Golan Heights   (12.20.06)
first Asad is willing to give away the shop, then the same day, Haniyeh is talking about Hudna, now let's see what the clown from Iran is going to come up with........? it looks like a conspiracy to me, i don't trust this fanatics, they don't change overnight.
59. TO ALL ISRAELIS
Nader ,   Ramallah   (12.20.06)
ALL Let us not keep talking inside an endless loop.. The bottom line is, it's wither you leave west bank and Gaza, enter into real peace procees, OR, you will face WAR... There you have Abbas, GO and strike a deal with him, OR, just wait your end, a matter of time !! You guys are just MINDLESS.. You think that your nuke weapons would defend you !? or the US? you are misstaken !! Nothing will defend you from 200 millions of Arabs surrounding you !!!!!!!!!! Today the Arab peoplr are ruled by those dectators, but that wont stay forever. Look at how Hamas took power, and how Hizbullah is taking over in Lebanon, syria and soon will find a hamas like gov on each of the arab states, then, the result is clear, the will screw Israel inside outside.. YOUR ONLY solution, is strike a deal with the Palestinians, get out from the occupied lands (67) and let us sign a peac agreement BEFOR yur end starts counting down.. Take Care
60. Ryan
Jellybean ,   Chicago   (12.20.06)
I totally agree with you, giving them 20 years will do Isreal no good. Also I have the NHL package which I care about more than a bunch crazy palestinans! Another good point is that they cannot control their own population, so how can they ensure a 20 year peace! LOL the Giants are going down unless Da Bears get lucky!!! : ) Da Bears need to keep their Defense up.
