1. IDF are in deep sh*t!!
Harry ,   Kansas   (12.20.06)
Train these soldiers all you like. They may be prepared for war but they will never be like Hezbollah. Hezbollah are prepared to die!
2. To #1 Harry
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (12.20.06)
It never seems to amaze me how some people can see only the worst of all possibilities. Israel has always prevailed in the face of odds against them and they shall again. Hezbollah, Hamas and the Arabs in general may train to die, Israel will train to help them to do so! I do believe Israel has prepared over the years to fight the war in the occupied territory's, They now see the need to prepare for Syria and a more standard battle field situation.
3. Russia
John Prokovich ,   Saint Charles, MO US   (12.20.06)
Mid way into the seven year of the Tribulation Russia will attack Isreal. God will intervine and destroy the Russian army in the mountains North of Isreal. According to the Bible it will take 6 months to bury the dead and burn all the tanks used in this attack.

please explain to us all....if the idf is shit in your estimation because it is not willing to die, how is it we won all the wars against arabs in the past? i have been in israel during these wars and have see with my own eyes the "courage" of the arab soldier. usually, when the israeli tanks arrived, these that are so willing to die took off tgheir military boots, left them in the desert and proceeded to run for their lives. this happened in 1967, 1982-83 and most of the other military conflicts and operations. hizbullah is NOT AN ARMY, NOT A CONVENTIONAL ARMY. israel fights as an army, not a suicidal gurilla gang pack. they obey military rules of combat because they are not trained to just fight guerilla style. however, we learned that since we'll never fight a conventional arab army, we are now training in guerilla warfare.....watch out. a soldier is much fiercer when he's doing all to avoid dying than one who will go to his death by choice. the motivation of jews to live and stay alive is the essence and reason behind our milleniums of survival. do not count out that motivation in each israeli soldier against hizbullah. jes are not stupid. we learn from our mistakes because our survival depends on this kind of learning.
5. The aim of aim: rebut to Harry
Andrew Hamilton ,   Sydney, Australa   (12.20.06)
Harry: It was a famous American general who said that the aim of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his. If you were really from Kansas you would know this!
6. G-d bless this Army..You are there to defend the NATION.
Al ,   Canada   (12.20.06)
Never ever allow yourselves to become tools of an anti-semitic act again...the expulsion from Gaza brought about the defeat in Lebanon. I hope and pray that lessons have been learned. Its time to do what you have always done well. May G-d bless you all!

"The object of war is not to die for your country, but to make the other bastard die for his." - Gen. George S. Patton.
8. Hezbollah martyrs aplenty
Mike ,   fairfield   (12.20.06)
As Macarthur said, the goal is not to die for ones country, but to make the enemy die for his,
9. A better saying,
Libneniyyeh ,   Lebanon   (12.20.06)
though I can't recall who said it: The only man to witness the end of war is the dead man. I believe that any country (USA, Iran, Syria) that supplies its "allies" with weapons wants only to witness the destruction of her so-called allies. Throughout history the US has been the only country never to have become a battle field for other wars. During the world wars it was busy manufacturing weapons and exporting them to her "allies", making profit and gaining power. And the outcome? The death of millions. Myself and a large number of sane Lebanese people are sick to death of Lebanon being a battle field for other countries' wars. In all the talk backs, only death death death is chanted. Who are our enemies? The hatred and fear and racism that we permit to live off our souls, like parasites sucking up every drop of humanity and common sense. Sheesh
10. Tank training
jeremy ,   Hula Valley   (12.20.06)
I used to have so much fun training in my tank back when we had the Centurion mark 4. Driving across country, firing the guns. Always attacking, always on the move. Guys, it might get hard and cold inthose things but you are our front line of defense, train, train hard and be prepared
11. To #1 -
jonathan ,   CA   (12.20.06)
Where else do Jews have to go? The IDF has shown that when their back is to the wall, they too are prepared to die. Hezbullah has no monopoly on that sad fact.
12. To #4, v.n.y
Harry ,   Kansas   (12.20.06)
Arabs in the past? I wasn't talking about arabs from the past. I said HEZBOLLAH. The 2500 fighters that stood up to an army of 40,000 soldiers, F16s, tanks, state of the art equipment, and still made them look like amatures! Have a look at the dates you are refering to. Hezbollah wasn't around then! hahaha look at you. Using crap like, "hizbullah is NOT AN ARMY", "not trained to just fight guerilla style". When you got little girls bombing from the air, what do you expect them to do? When all you have is a knife in a gun fight, tell me would you run out like an idiot? And you say, "they obey military rules". Please don't get me started. Are you talkin about the cluster bombs they used? Please mate you are obviously an angry little boy. One in denial. You say, "a soldier is much fiercer when he's doing all to avoid dying than one who will go to his death by choice". These "fierce" soldiers you are talking about. Are you talking about the 40,000 that could not get to the litani river and had to withdraw??
13. To #1 So let them die!!!!!!!
Gaby ,   Montreal , Canada   (12.20.06)

Harry ,   Kansas   (12.20.06)
"A FAMOUS AMERICAN GENERAL"? Oh geez that changes everything. Those same famous americans in Iraq? Firstly that saying coming from an american general does not suprise me. Secondly would you please read my 1st message because that is the problem with you people. I said, "prepared to die" MEANING that they are going into war and knowing there is a possibility that you may die. It does not mean that you know you are going to die 100%. You have to be in denial if you think that you are going to war and you will return 100%. That saying by george patton just shows how ruthless americans are! That is why 5 times the amount of civilians die compared to soldiers. The IDF has also employed this tactic! And just for you amatures, the aim of war is to win!
15. Harry, Remember George Patton
Yitzhak ,   Holon   (12.20.06)
George Patton once told his soldiers: "The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his country." So, Hezbollah and Hamas are trained to die? Good, the IDF will be more than happy to help them surpass their training goals!
16. new training
moshe ,   new york   (12.20.06)
This article is so childish it makes me want to puke. the soldiers are like boy scouts and this officer talks like a boy scout leader. If this is the state of the israeli army we are in big trouble
17. #12-Harry, Hezbllah hid behind a nation of hostages...
Robert ,   USA   (12.20.06)
they did not "stand up" to the Israeli Army. Otherwise they would put on uniforms and abide by the rules of war instead of using their neighbor's as human sheilds. Not to mention they were established and propped up by the resources and direction of a couple of nations (Iran and Syria who were also hiding behind Lebanon's Skirts).
18. Harry, admit IDF was hindered by Israel's leaders
Robert ,   USA   (12.20.06)
if you make your point by ignoring the facts of the matter, you are only fooling yourself.
19. #16 wel Mr moshe....
sabbageorge ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.20.06)
Well mr moshe sitting in New york.If you really think this way you should be here in Miluim with your fellow soldiers doing your fair share! Come on, im sick of the negative external feedback....pathetic "armchair zionists" Put your words in actions and com and join us here in the shetach with our brothers and rebuild the IDF. it is because of negative attitudes and comments like this that our boys are underestimated. The IDF IS still one of the MOST powerful armies in the world and our boys are doing a great job! Kol hakavod Letsahal!
20. To #17, #18, Robert
Harry ,   Kansas   (12.20.06)
Here we go again. Another person swallowing what president bush feeds him! Yeah your right buddy let us take a look at the facts. Hezbollah which are mainly shia are situated in south lebanon. True! NOW think carefully about this. If Hezbollah live in the south that must mean that their families also live in the south too. True! NOW do you really think that Hezbollah were firing from their mothers' living rooms? Listen to yourself. You say, "hid behind a nation of hostages"? Please buddy open your eyes and have a good look at how many attended the victory rally because the facts lie in the vast crowd!
21. #19 ani maskim...
yonatan ,   nyc   (12.20.06)
i'm always asking myself why so many chulnikim are the biggest zionists, yet for some reason they choose to remain chutz la'aretz.
22. Harry, and all those like you, please read
Ari ,   Eilat,Israel   (12.20.06)
Do you want facts? 1. Hezbollah, yes - you are right - fired rockets from inside or right outside their villages, and the IDF showed the videos to prove it. Cowards hiding behind babies. 2. Those hundreds of rockets from the "brave" Hezbollah savages were "precisely" aimed at civilian centers in Haifa, Afula and some Arab villages (!!!) so don't talk to me about soldiers per citizen death ratios. They weren't even aiming for soldiers. And I also don't recall leaflets warning the civilians to evacuate those cities before the bombing. 3. The Hezbollah were hardly armed with knives - more like thousands of short and long distance rockets, night vision systems, the most advanced anti-tank weapons, underground bunkers spaning square miles, code breakers, surface to sea missiles, all supplied by Iran and Syria. In conclusion: The Hezbollah aren't prepared to die for their country, they are prepared to die in order to kill Israelis, and the hell with their own country. That is true Hezbollah and Iranian dogma. I suppose we should sit and wait for the Iranian nuclear bomb.

i don't know who or what you are, but it seems to us all here that you are one hell of a negative, unhappy and angry guy. instead of spewing your drivel and showing everyone here how little you know of what happened during this war in lebanon, read the news paper, some analysis of events and listen to the ones who were actually there and saw it all first hand. my friends in the idf said they were prepared to go full force, all 30,000 of them into a blasting ground invasion against your 2500 hizbulla gang members....this is in fact what they really are. however, the israeli government, listening to the usa's advice to go, not to go, to go, not to go has confused the army beyond anything imaginable. they were ready to go and then stopped by our incompetent prime minister. they did in fact reach the litani river. read the news once in a while and you'll realize that the litani river was reached by the soldiers within 3 days. then, they were called back. then hizbullah begged the un for a c easefire. they were the ones to beg for thatknowing that the israelis will succeed at the very end. hizbullah had only one thing that empeded our progress....anti tank missiles. every soldier's death in this was caused by anti tank missiles. the only reasons why these operations by the idf were not succesful is because of this confusion and because israel sat comfortably and had NO INTELLIGENCE from the mossad as to the extent of the hizbullah re-armament after we left southern lebanon. our intelligence stunk. it wasn't the soldiers. it was israeli complete lack of intelligence, the government complete confusion of the foot soldiers and the equipment that was left in bad shape during the passing years. additionally, we could have finished the entire lebanon from the air. we didn't because our hands were tied by conciousness and the rules of war. also, there is no rule in warfare against cluster bombs. do you think that should the arabs have them instead of the qassams, they wouldn't employ them and send them into israel? they would and you know it too. the most important thing coming out of this conflict is that no one won. no one! hizbullah claimed victory while destroying a country and the people. and for what? lebanon isn't occupied, is it? i didn't see siniora calling for war on israel! israel didn't win because our hands were tied behind our backs and we were forced to stop the invasion by the un when siniora started crying at the un meeting. hizbulla understood that should there be no cease fire, they'd be eliminated by the idf. this is exactly why they wanted this ceasefire. comprende?

Get real! your Hezballah friends are cowardly little scum. Imagine having to hide behind their womens' skirts to try and kill Jews; and shooting from their kids schools while the kids are still there. How brave!! Kind of reminds you of Gaza, doesn't it. And thank you for clarifying the fact that all those "innocent civilians" aren't so innocent but really active terrorist enablers. Hopefully the IDF will take note of this clarification. Next time (and there will be a next time..Hezballah will make sure of it), the IDF will show the same restraint that Hezballah showed northern Israel. You're a joke, Harry or Achmed or whatever your name really is. You seek to celebrate the great "victory" of Hesballah. Well they had 5 years to prepare just like the Nazis before WWII. and thanks to poor Israeli leadership they survived, just barely...thanks to their whining to the UN. Boo hoo, those Joooos are killing us, we need a ceasefire, boo, hoo!! What fighters! But they will end up the same way as the Nazis you Arabs supported during WWII, along with their Syrian and Iranian sponsors.
