1. Where are the Human Right Activists and UN ?
Sam ,   Nigeria   (12.21.06)
Can't you say something now atleast to condemn the qassam rocket attack on Israeli civilians?
2. resume targeted killings now !

3. What the "restraint" policy has wrought
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (12.21.06)
Israeli has stayed its hand during the so-called ceasefire - where Israel ceases and they fire - but what has it wrought? Israel's enemies push across one red line after another, testing the limits. Israel looks weak, ready to capitulate with yet another concession. Deterrence is undermined when repeated threats to respond are seen to be just words. And what will happen when Israel finally does respond? It wil be accused of "breaking the ceasfire", "endangering civilians" in its "disproportionate response". The UNHRC will pass yet another condemnation of Israel. Rice will call to urge "restraint" so as not to undermine Abbas. What a bunch of hooey! No self-respecting nation should have to put up with aggression across its borders. Its enemies must be held accountable and pay a real price for such aggression.
4. Well it seems like he likes to gamble with Israeli ives
David L.   (12.21.06)
Peretz authorized the killing of more than 10 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of the so-called "ceasefire", and he expected no retaliation? What kind of ceasefire is that? You know about the Palestinian girl killed earlier this week? Let's suppose that a Qassam would kill an Israeli girl in Sderot. Over 100 Palestinians would be dead right now in response. If that's not disgusting double-standart, what is it?
5. Failure to protect country
Brod ,   USA   (12.21.06)
If a government fails to protect the country from external threats and aggressions, the people have a right to replace it with a new government. If the government is being stopped by the PM to protect the country, the government can replace the PM. No one is indispensable. If a government or a PM can't even protect the country from small-sized rocket attacks, how can it ever protect the country from ICBMs and nukes? A strong and good government must be competent and responsible in executing its duties in protecting and defending the country and its citizens from external threats and attacks. Such a government will give primacy to ensuring the national security interests of the country. A government that cows to the interests of its pernicious enemies is not a government of its people, for its people and to its people. The people must cry out for a government that is strong, competent and responsible in protecting and defending them from external threats and aggressions.
6. Before Israeli response, need media push
SammyTT ,   NYC   (12.21.06)
Before military action, Israel must make a big media push around the world to shine the spotlight on how the truce is being broken by the Pals. If Israel responds now, the world will see Israel as the ones breaking the truce. Israel must whine a bit first, making it clear that the response is going to come because the truce is being broken by the Pals. Otherwise, DON'T DO IT! Israel will be blamed for breaking the truce, Pals will unite against new Israeli aggression and Israel will be the worse for it all again.
7. Brod #5 ridiculous
SammyTT ,   NYC   (12.21.06)
Brod, do you really think any prime minister could secure Israeli citizens any more than Olmert? Apparently you do. Maybe, but the likelihood is that Israeli citizens will continually be bugged and forever bothered by the Pals and Arabs, regardless of who is PM. Sharon was considered the strongman PM and he couldn't guarantee Israeli safety. No on can guarantee this. You must cut Olmert a little more slack, in my opinion. You and others like you are so quick to point the finger at Olmert and the Israeli govt's lack of ability, but you really don't see that every Israeli gov't is dealing with an impossible situation. The way to security is Arab infighting until voices of moderation rise to meet Israelis. The way to security is to expose the mentality of extremism that exists and promote the mentality of realism and moderation.
8. These unilateral ceasefires really work!
Cynic ,   USA   (12.21.06)
9. PM's Must Live In Sderot
Yoni ,   NYI Jerusalem   (12.21.06)
New law must be applied that makes all PM’s in the future have to live in Sderot. The law must also make anyone ineligible who does not have their sons and daughters enlisted in the IDF. Everyone who has a son living overseas of IDF age is disqualified from any office in Israel, forever! This would ban the pigdog Olmert from ever holding office in Israel again. A real democracy would end this endless string of traitors from being PM’s. Israel needs elected officials not appointed people making decisions about life and death of soldiers and civilians. Olmert has failed every single test as PM and every other government position he has held.

v. n.y. ,   usa   (12.21.06)
those ten "people" you so favor, were terrorists either planning to attack israeli civilians, trying to infiltrate our borders for suicide missions and wanted men for past attacks and deaths in israel. plans by israel's government to eliminate them was justified. the accidental death of the little palestinian girl was a very very sad occurence. however, your usa soldiers are privy and take part, even accidentally, to children dying all over iraqby their fire and bombs due to the present war. condemn our country first whose war in iraq is not in SELF DEFENSE OF OUR NATION. and then you can be justified in condemning the actions of idf and israeli government to protect its citizens frfom future terror planning. if you lived in sderot and your family and home were under constant barrage of bombings and qassams, or if your neighbors knew of a planned attack on your city, family, children, i bet you'd behave exactly as israel does. 10, 30, 100, you'd go after them no matter how many die in the melee of your attack so that you can keep your home and loved ones safe.
11. Time to set the trap
Umm El Kul Naqba   (12.21.06)
Seem likes a good time to prepare the trap. Let Islamic Jihad think that they are immune to counter-terror attacks and when the moment is just right take them out in the middle of the operation red-handed.
