1. Harper, you are insane.
Khalid   (12.22.06)
Canada "has been completely absent" from the Middle East in the past decade? SO WHAT?! That's why Canada had gained the respect of many Middle Eastern, European, Asian and almost all people of the world. Canada WAS about peace, but it's not anymore, Mr. Harper. Your actions in Afghanistan are what you can blame any horrible terrorist act in Canada on. If Chirac were still in power, Canada would be safe.
2. Well Said
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (12.22.06)
How do you talk peace with people unwilling to talk peace, and people that consistently go back on there word. Canada finally has some good leadership after 12 years of liberal scandals and internal corrosion. I am glad we are taking a pro Israel stance, cause it symbolizes a stance of good over evil, without looney left responses, of "crazies have the right to be crazies" Our liberals elected Dion for there leader, a dual Canadian and French citizen that was at one time promoting seperation for Quebec, and who is grudgingly not really willing to relinquish his french citizenship. I find it hard that this Dion will garner much support, so we can be thankful of the fact that Harper is here for good, and hopefully the liberals do force an election and our Conservatives get a majority so they don't have to try to appease our left looney liberals, the even loonier NDP, and no one's favourite the bloc quebecois. Way to Go Harper.!!!!! This is one Canadian that supports you and Israel 100%
3. But he also say Killing Muslims r okey
1.5 Billion Muslim   (12.22.06)

4. Thank you Mr. Harper! Vote Conservative, say no to Dion!
Roni   (12.22.06)
5. #3 and #1
jason ,   usa   (12.22.06)
#1: not true canada supported Israel when they didn't like how the U.N passed the resolutions towards Israel insted of other countries more people are gettting killed this year beacuse of the U.N judgement and the killing toal in darfur reach up to 500,000 and counting #3: ... proof? if its about the Hamas and PA then your out of luck beacause its their free will what made them do it
6. You got my vote again
Eve ,   Vancouver   (12.22.06)
Thank you PM Harper:) its about time Canada took a stand
7. Harper you are very sane
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (12.22.06)
8. Harper has common sense and no B.S.
Zvi ,   USA   (12.22.06)
HAMAS makes no secret of its genocidal goals and should be treated as the evil, delusional, genocidal group that it is. No sane person doubts what HAMAS would do if it were stronger than Israel. HAMAS should therefore be treated accordingly.
9. #2 - Ryan : Correction
Maurice ,   Montreal   (12.22.06)
I agree with everything you say except your statement that Dion at one time promoted seperation for Quebec. This is absolutely untrue. Dion has always been a ferocous enemy of the separatists, and that is why he is hated buy many nationalist Quebecers. His support is manly coming from Ontario.
10. #1 and #3
Mary-Anne ,   Canada   (12.22.06)
#1 Zut alors! What does Chirac have to do with the Prime Minister of Canada? Also, I will blame any horrible terrorist act on the people who perpetrate them and the nations that condone them. #3 I fail to see how you can jump to such a conclusion from the words of PM Harper. Perhaps you both need to examine what is being said here a little less emotionally. Refusing to talk with terrorist organizations is hardly grounds to declare we support open season on muslims. PM Harper is the first Canadian PM in years that has had the backbone to not sell out what is right, moral and ethical for votes. I can't help but like a person with ETHICAL convictions and therefore he will certainly have my vote.
11. 1 True with the Liberal party, those in Canada
freedom ,   canada   (12.22.06)
knew we were irrelevant in the world. Be it right or wrong, at least we stand for something. And trust me we dont want Chirac anywhere near us.
12. 3 Come to Canada, you will learn what
freedom ,   canada   (12.22.06)
libel is. Grow up and be negative somewhere else.
13. just stating the obvious truth
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (12.22.06)
nothing wrong with that, unless you are into moral equivalence and historical revision. too bad that he will get death threats and will be cursed for speaking out loud what everyone knows and thinks.
14. gaining land, love and friends.
#1 ,   netherlands   (12.22.06)
there is enough land if you just can learn to dry the sea, like the Dutch did and the Americans. what makes you insane#1 is the need to pay for killing people instead of caring for your own well being, your mind, spirit and heart are not balanced, and will never be as long as hatred is filling your heart. build a dyk get the water out... get some rich soil ... and build a nice house, take care of your family without blood on your hands and hate in your heart. and learn that in the name of Allah you must love the people of the book and those are Jews.
15. Harper Unbiased & Honest
KMR ,   Middle East   (12.22.06)
16. Finally Someone With a Common Sense!
nell ,   switzerland   (12.22.06)
My compliments Mr Harper! Finally a Western leader who says that black is black and white is white!
17. Your Ok Harper
Judy ,   Vancouver, Canada   (12.22.06)
I heard about PM Harper being elected on my way to Tel Aviv last January. I actually contemplated moving to Israel! However, the Tories, have really proved that they support the State of Israel. I was proud that Canada was the first country to stand their ground with regards to terrorism and their support for Israel. On foreign policy, the Conservative Government has been consistent. Unfortunately, it's only their social policies I have a problem with. I can honestly say that I don't know that I would ever vote Liberal again.
18. Canada bucks Palestinian spin
JPS ,   Efrat   (12.22.06)
Harper is not only right, but there appears to be a shift in perception about the media spin created by the Palestinians. Whereas they want everybody to call the security wall Israel is building the "apartheid" wall, Harper has said out loud what the wall really is - the "genocide wall". The wall is keeping out the genocide of Hamas. Hamas and its Iranian protectors have said out loud repeatedly they want Israel wiped off the map. Hamas has a long standing policy of sending bombers to kill unarmed civilians, and only a few days ago the Hamas prime minister repeated the official policy of no peace with Israel. The world is getting fed up with Palestinian double speak and is starting to call it as it really is. A policy of genocide by Hamas, and not fictional apartheid they want to blame on Israel.
19. Mr. Harpers comments
Ibrahim El-Awal ,   Dearborn, Michigan   (12.22.06)
As an Arab I feel that it is time for us to understand that violence will not solve the Palestinian/Israel conflict. We tried it for 60 years and Hamas plans to continue it for another 60 years. Coexisence would have brought prosperity to my Palestinian brothers. Now we have poverty and killings. Look at our options, what is better for your children. Stop hate campaign and teach your children humanity.
20. #1 - Chirac?
G ,   Toronto, Canada   (12.22.06)
Before you criticize the foreign policy of another country please do a little bit of reading about the country in question.
21. Harper is CC of Bush
Aaron rabinovich ,   canada   (12.22.06)
Harper will never be re-elected again ,don't rush to be happy with his comment.I live in canada and know the puplic opinion about him ,not only jews vote here.
22. Mr. Harper, a real leader!
Sasha ,   Canada   (12.22.06)
It is always reassuring to know that a PM with such integrity exists. Mr. Harper, you're the best!
23. Harper
Libneniyyeh ,   Lebanon   (12.22.06)
will not be re-elected that is for sure; he won a lot of bad reputation lately, especially during the Lebanese war. AND for the Canadians who supprt him here, a huge number of Canadians want to see him gone, because he's just a pawn in the USA's back pocket. If Bush sneezes, he sneezes. If Bush farts, he'll work one up too.
24. #2 Do Canadians go back on their word ?
observer   (12.22.06)
Canada has committed itself to the two state resolution since 947 through UN Partition Plan; A majority of nations (CANADA, Czechoslovakia, Guatemala, Netherlands, Peru, Sweden, Uruguay) recommended the creation of independent Arab and Jewish states, with Jerusalem to be placed under international administration. A minority (India, Iran, Yugoslavia) supported the creation of a single federal state containing both Jewish and Arab constituent states. Australia abstained. The 33 countries that voted in favor of the partition, as set by UN resolution 181: Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Belarus, CANADA, Costa Rica, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Guatemala, Haiti, Iceland, Liberia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Sweden, South Africa, Ukraine, United States, USSR, Uruguay, Venezuela. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1947_UN_Partition_Plan Do Canadians go back on their word? are they looking for excuses in the talks of Hamas, which emerged as a Palestinian organization, among several old ones, in the 1990s? I would say “This is one Canadian that supports Israel 200%, from which 100% should have gone to the to be Palestinian state”
25. Vive le Canada!!!
Stephen ,   Arizona, USA   (12.22.06)
PM Harper is absolutely correct. It is impossible to negotiate with genocidal maniacs. If the other side's much-stated goal is the complete eradication of their opponent, then NO negotiation will succeed. These blood thirsty murderers only seek temporary hudnas so they can get stronger and attack again. The only "peace" they want is THEIR peace. Well, we can see what THEIR peace means as they spill even each others' blood in Iraq and Gaza, and I fear soon once more in Lebanon. Hizbollah, and Hamas -may all the world see your true evil and stamp you out!
26. #2 and 9
patrick ,   Canada   (12.22.06)
I agree with Maurice. Dion has always been a ferocious opponent to the Quebecers nationalists and its main support comes from Ontario! Albeit I voted for the Conservative party in the last elections as many persons in the Westen part of Canada (and I fully back up his stance on the Middle East conflict), I totally reject the fact that you're (Ryan) jumping to false conclusions when time comes to talk about his French citizenship (his mother is French...so what?). Myself, I am a dual Canadian and French and even if being also French is not really brilliant these days (because of the dumb French foreign policy) we can not disown our origin either. The principal remaining that we know exactly who to support in the Middle East conflict that is to say Israel all the way! Long life to Steven Harper and long life to Eretz Israel!
27. #14
patrick ,   Canada   (12.22.06)
I totally agrre with what you said but do you know what that implies for them (arabs)? Working hard! I do not really know if they understand what does it mean?
28. Here we go
Canadian Arab ,   Canada, Ottawa   (12.22.06)
Wil a slim majority, I think you Harper should not risk losing the arab/muslim vote.... WELL HERE YOU GO.. THIS IS what you get when boys get into politics!!!
29. 26
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (12.22.06)
Yes you are right, I wanted to say against seperatism, as I am for seperatism, the coodles and special treatment is sickening to me, the status of nation is even worse. It's promoting ethnical differences, not remembering or honouring them, if anything in a secular country it should be a provincial issue at best, not federel, and should be up to our heritage ministry to remember our heritage. If we cannot promote christianity without a minority group or government official coming down on us because of secularism and political correctness then it is only fair to not allow it for quebecers. I will never vote liberal, I don't believe in dual citizenships, you want to live here, then have a 100% committment to us, or go home, where are your loyalties, how can we be sure, this issue was brought to attention during the lebanon evacuation, the millions we spent to get them out, now they are right back there. What side would you be on if Canada and France fought a war? To me, you do something all the way or don't do it at all. I like Harper, the cbc (liberal propaganda machine) tries relentlessly to hurt his image, but he has done great so far. Martin ran his business out of another country for tax reasons. That is not right to me.
30. Libneniyyeh
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (12.22.06)
You might want to reevaluate your conclusion of Harper being relected, I think he is on his way to a majority, and I love his Pro Israel stance, and his condemnation Hamas and Hizbullah, he stands for good over evil, and is not afraid to call a spade a spade. As for the bush comments, maybe your heritage doesn't allow you to see in one lifetime two men with backbones and enough audacity to do something about it and take a stand. If the immigrants sneeze the liberals pull out a hanky, if the immigrants fart, the liberals give you money for new underwear.
