Abie Nathan's sad celebration    Miri Chason
1. Grandfather of Oslo
He is one of the people responsible for the Yom kippur war. As some Egyptian intellectuals said, he convinced efyptians that Israel is weak and the war can be won. He is forefather of Beilin, Peres, etc. who brought us Oslo.

2. Abi Nathan& Ariel Sharon
Both forgotten ,both failed to seek peace from Hashem. All we have is fake peace and false hope ,broken promises and lies and tired weak leaders who appease evil forces. There will be no peace without Him.
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.23.06)
3. The only thing that bothers this man
is that he probably wont live to see the day when Israel (except Tel aviv of course) is under Muslim rule. Adios pal.
Vincent ,   Haifa   (12.23.06)
4. Gee what a shame...but..
if anyone really wants to help a truly ritousdisabled person then there are plenty of soldiers who were injured this past summer in Labanon trying to SAVE the citizens of Israel (Jews, Muslims and Christians).
Salient   (12.23.06)
5. Blessed are the peacemakers...
as that Jesus fellow said (and a happy birthday to you, sir btw). Abie is not a perfect human being, and never noted for a high level of religious observance. However, he tried very hard to make peace, and even in his current state has a good go at loving his neighbor as he loves himself. Something we're all commanded to do, Jew or Christian. Happy holidays, folks.

6. abie nathan
abie nathan is a great man. when i lived in israel during the 80's -his voicce of peace not only gave us all entertainment but hope- when i was unemployed he who didnt know me tried to find me a job- abie we love you - get better--there is nothing wrong with dreamers and to you sad people with nothing going on in your lives stop judging - what have you done - abie love from los angeles -liami

7. Nasty "peace" of work
Its funny to read about this grandfather of "peace". My father always told the story how he and this guy both got arrested during a altercation at Abi's cafe over a girl. In the paddy wagon on the way to jail, Abi with his laywers already present leaned over to my father and said "I'll get you! You will never leave Tel Aviv alive! I'll have your legs cut off!" Apparantly he was a real dove back then too.

8. Abie
What a shame to see such a great guy alone in his senior years. As one who worked for Abie in 92/93 onboard the Peace Ship I have great respect for the guy...despite the numerous shouts over the infamous "Motorola" on board the ship! A shame the dream of the VOP being allowed to come ashore licenced never came to be a reality. Great times and memories.

9. Maybe the Israeli ghosts of the victims of terrorist
attack and the wars will visit abie. How many of our youth did he push towards a "peace" that filled our streets with Jewish blood?

10. Who is perfect?
Abie saw war and wanted to stop it. He organised many earthquake relief programmes. With five years on The Peace Ship I knew him well. He is not perfect, no-one is, but he deserves better than some of the comments posted here.
John Macdonald ,   Glasgow   (12.27.06)
11. Abie Nathan
I had two periods of service aboard the MV Peace and had some contact with Abie. No doubt he did a lot of good, but as my old shipmate John Macdonald says, Abie is not perfect, but who is? It's sad to see him so alone now, where are all those so-called friends now?
Mike Kerslake ,   Haverfordwest, WALES   (01.30.07)
12. Unique man
Abie is an ordinary human being with extra ordinary capacity of doing things his way for what he thought was right - regardless of all the odds. Make no mistake, he is not a Santa Clause. But so many people had benefitted from his "gifts". Voice of Peace is one of them. For many of us who knew him well he is a truly unique person. For those who were with VOP in late 70s to early 80s, Butch here. Let's reconnect for the sake of good old days with Abie.
