3. What dissidents in Iran want to hear
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (12.29.06)
As the son of former Soviet dissidents who has made a point of learning from what they have to say, I can tell you that those dissidents in Iran who are allies of the west don't want us to communicate with and thus legitimize Iran, because that wil seal their fates. They want our politicians to use their power and influence (military if need be) to knock Iran into next week, because they know that force is the only language that tyrants understand and the only thing that can set them free.
4. ISRAEL THE BIG LIBRATOR
sirus ,   Rasht IRAN   (12.29.06)
It is so amaizing that israeli media are supposed to rescue iranian people from their oppressive rulers!!! the authors of this article are absolutly ignorant of iranian people's mind-set . and all those lies about sending children to minefields and censorships and... wun't make them to love you.!! i was once one of those children and noone gave me any taiwanian- made plastic key and noone pushed me onto a mine. i heard these "propaganda" from western and israeli media.!! i wish you could be more realestic and could help palestinians to get rid of the harsh behaviores of israeli troops.
5. To Sirus #4
Benjamin R Hiatt ,   Portland Oregon, USA   (12.29.06)
So, Sirus, are you saying that websites are not being blocked by the government and that those students were not protesting the Governments restrictions on their freedom? I have friends from Iran, and they describe the same thing going on in Iran. I made Iranian friends while I lived in Germany and I have Iranian friends here in the US and they all say the same thing. I agree with you that the West cannot “rescue” Iran. The Iraian Theocracy has sewed the seeds of it’s own destruction by doing such an impressive job of educating it’s people.

8. 4,7 Really? Thoughts by a woman Iranian on Iranian women
oppression of women ,   lack of freedom =   (12.30.06)
No lack of freedom? Indeed: Parts of a speech from a panel by Iranian Mothers for Freedom: Iranian women have lost their inheritance rights, as well as custodial rights to their own children. They are required to secure the express approval of their husbands or male guardians to obtain passports and to travel. Under Shari'a law, a woman's testimony in court is, at best, worth half the testimony of her male counterpart. Even more astonishing, Iran's new Islamic-guided government has established a system of legalized prostitution, through the practice of "sigheh" or "temporary marriages," by which a Mullah arranges a "legal union" between a man and a girl (some as young as 9 years old) for a fee. The so called "marriage" can last anywhere from one hour to 99 years. Under this system, the men are free to enter into as many temporary marriages as they so desire, without having ANY legal obligation or responsibility towards the women and children that they "marry" only to use as sexual objects and slaves. Not surprisingly, this legalized system of slavery and oppression has led to a growing sex-trafficking industry that is partially operated by government officials and Mullahs themselves. Atafeh Rajabi (was) a girl-child hanged to death in the city of Neka in the early hours of August 15 of 2004. Her crime was officially declared to be "adultery," even though she had never married and was only 16 ...(her) last words were: "At the very least, you could have given me a glass of water. Animals are slaughtered more humanely than this." Atefeh is not the only girl to be sentenced to death by the Islamic regime, nor the only child. Despite being a signatory to international treaties that expressly prohibit the heinous practice of child execution, Iran had the dubious honor of being the only country to execute children in 2005. In 2006, it shares this odious status with Pakistan – the only other country to have executed a child so far this year. According to data produced by Amnesty International, the Islamic Republic executed at least 8 child offenders in 2005. It carried out its first child execution of 2006 on 13 th of May with the hanging of an unnamed 17-year-old boy. He was executed along with an unnamed 20-year-old man, in Khorramabad. The two were hanged because they had allegedly engaged in homosexual acts.
9. Iran is a sainthood
Shukri El-Awal ,   Dearborn, Michigan   (12.30.06)
Israel is an open democratic society . Read Haaretz and see what Gideon Levy is writing. Listen to Neve Gordon and read Ilan Pappe. Those three would have been executed in Iran. So Bill Handel shut up.
