He was himself an infame murderer but to execute him is to follow in the same path he used.

Well theoretically he deserve it, but logically, there is no logic here. If we think about the contest without prejudgment lot of illegal procedure accompanied this court and this is a precedent of the international moral and ethic.

The taking of a life is murder and unacceptable under any circumstance. A country which sanctions such a barbarous act is no better than the accused.

12. I'm against the death penalty, but
sometimes I'm happy to make exceptions. The world is a better place with this scumbag gone. This is probably the ONLY time that I agree with GW. Saddam was a coward and deserved to be treated as such. He was given the "red card" that his henchmen had given his victims before execution. That's what I call poetic justice.
|
|
13. I agree 6
No matter how awful his crimes were- the "west' which is supposedly more enlightened should have acted that way. Yes, prison or a permanent seperation from society- as from his past actions he is capable of insanity and crimes- but to kill him is to become him. I thought we were better then that.

14. do NOT celebrate
According to the Midrash, when the army of Mitzrayim drowned in the Sea, the angels had lined up in the heavens and cheered when G-d admonished them. Although they were murderers of G-d's people, G-d made clear that His people were never to cheer at the death of another, even at those who were evil.

18. Saddam
I'm sure, the world is a better place for Saddam's no longer being in it, and if anyone deserved being dead, it was him, and yet and still, I don't feel like celebrating. He may have been a monster, but he, too, had family who loved him, and for them I mourn.

19. NO SYMPATHY
how can you even show remorse over his death, did saddam show remorse when little 6 year old girls drowned in chemical weapons, did he hesitate. Do not state your culturally superior, all tyrants will die by the sword!
The best way to execute saddam, should have been to place a giant billboard around him saying "Hi im Saddam" and dropping him in the middle of Tehran, he would have been ripped into pieces?
I said this in another talkback; saddam's motto "God created 3 useless things"
1) Persians
2) Jews
3) Flies
as a persian jew that nut really hates me! but whos the one burning in hell now!

25. Saddam isn't alone
There are still more dictators still in power. Actually, there's a fine line between human rights and the ability to control your own country. Had Saddam not rule with an iron-fist, it would look like what Iraq is today. His death sentence is more of a vengence than justice.
|
|
26. Just a Presumption
Presuming, Saddam is still in power and Ahmedijerk is threatening to wipe out Israel and US, the West would still be arming Saddam's Army.... just like the Iran-Iraq war. So the question is,
Had Saddam been betrayed? Used?
