You should know the origins of Islam. Your founder was as much political leader as religious leader. islam does not separate religion from political matters. Historically, religion was used to justify any regime. It is the same today - look at Iran, the Taliban, Saudi Arabia, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. In my view, Islam is basically an ideology based on religion that seeks political domination. Sharia law does not distinguish between religious & civil matters. Almost all Muslim countries incorporate to some degree or another, Islam as the state religion. So, that's my answer - and worshipping G-d does not change in any way the nature of the ideology nor does having a holy book. A rather uncomfortable analogy would be an ideology like communism with a holy book "Das Kapital" & Karl Marx as prophet.
