1. Israel needs to move from Party List to First Past the Post
Adamush   (01.04.07)
2. Good to see a politician with half a brain
Bechor   (01.04.07)
She is far more impressive than Olmert or Peretz (not that that is very difficult). She is not a good foreign minister though. She should be in a different position. Netanyahu would make a brilliant Foreign minister...
3. More Double Standard Judgements
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (01.04.07)
Not to make light of our rather crappy political system or the abysmally low quality, not to mention lack of integrity, of our political elite - left, right, & religious - but I hardly think it deserves th scrutiny of the international community. I can think of a few other countries, not to mention the PA under Mr Abbas, that deserve far more scrutiny. Take a look at Russia, China, all of our Arab neighbors, all of Africa, most of South America, as well as many ex-communist countries in Eastern Europe. Our scandals pale in comparison to what is common practice in most of the world. Europe & America are not immune either. Certainly, we are not Finland. So why would anyone want to pay so much attention to our tiny little country? We are not above criticism but really, I think the international community could focus on some other candidates for a change.
4. excellent foreign minister - for France
hp   (01.04.07)
Israel cannot afford the lily- livered policies of Kadima . Livni might be clever , decent etc but Israel needs in addition foresight , strength and guts. No politician in Kadima has shown any of this , only the opposite ! Sharon was a true hero until either corruption or some mad impulse made him create Kadima and initiated the Gaza withdrawal
5. Political corruption
robin ,   israel   (01.04.07)
Politisc always corrupts the politicians here
6. "the positive aspect of the scandals. "Here," she said,
Judith in Haifa   (01.04.07)
"nothing is thrown under the carpet." What's right is right. We wash all our dirty linen in plain daylight for everyone to see and enjoy. Just because other countries, esp. our neighbors don't do it, doesn't mean that they are not corrupt to the core. We at least don't lie to ourselves. And yes there is a real effort to fight corruption in Israel. We will continue to clean the stables, the country's future depends on it.
7. Our political corruption brings "peace"
Ilan ,   Ariel   (01.04.07)
The world applauds political corruption when Rabin passes the Oslo agreement with a bribe of a Volvo or when Sharon passes disengagement.
8. Nice Excuse Livni, You Really Had Us Commoners Believing You
jason ,   yesha   (01.04.07)
So Hard for You big shot politicians to ever come clean without spinning a new excuse. Y'all need a trip behind bars to change yer rotten attitudes.
9. What image ?
David ,   Judea   (01.04.07)
the way things work here only confirms the negative way the world sees us. And frankly you can not blame them. Zionism is ending up the same way as socialism, it is a dogma based on the wrong foundation and false principles.
10. politicians be warned
concerned citizen ,   Israel   (01.04.07)
Your names will go down in the history of the Jews as scoundrels and thieves.
11. Power
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (01.04.07)
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. When it comes to scandals, when did we, the US, find room to talk? Maybe it's only a crime, if you get caught, if someone digs up enough evidence to convict you, or if you end up in jail. If you get away with it or get off on a technicality, you're either a clever polititcian or had one savvy lawyer.
12. Israel has some of the best officials that money can buy
Alan ,   SA   (01.04.07)
13. is this something new?
ken skilling ,   enron city, texas   (01.04.07)
corruption is a way of life. it is pervasive in any country, including those who condemn it.
