1. good news
shimon ,   madrid   (01.11.07)
it's a good news, for it shows the authentically democratic nature of the state of israel. Of course it doesn't mean that all problems with arabs are resolved, also because the arabs must manifest their loyalty to the state of israel more than they are actually doing it. but no doubt it's a step forward, israel need to integrate its million-numbered arab citizens
2. May G-d help us all!
What??   (01.11.07)
Instead of resigning, that incompetent peretz appoints an arab as minister. great news isn't it? May G-d help us all!
3. Israel must make a choice
mordechai ,   jerusalem   (01.11.07)
Israelis never want to decide. We can't give the Arab population the vote, allow the most anti- Israel members of their population to be MK's, speak of an open Israeli democracy in left wing salons in the West and then say no to a decent fellow like Majadele being a Government Minister. Israel decide. Do you want Majadele or Kahane?
4. The Arabs Would Sympathize With Peretz
(01.11.07)
After all Peretz did more than anyone else in this government of idiots to help defeat TSAHAL against hezbollah last July. Destroy this government. It is killing Israel.
5. Majadele
Sefardita ,   Sweden   (01.11.07)
I see Majadele's appointment as a positive step. After all, he is an Israeli citizen isn't he? Frankly speaking I have more confidence in him than in Anastasia Michalei.
6. Will the new minister continue his anti-smoking campaign?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.11.07)
Some while ago, then MK Majadele, as a member of the Knesset Health Committee, stated that he was determined to widen the scope of anti-smoking legislation. Part of this was to make business and shopping centers responsible for enforcing the ban on smoking in public places. For "some" reason" both he and MK Erdan of the Likud, seem to have become somewhat stalemated in their efforts. Now as a Minister he will have the chance to put his money where his mouth is.
7. Ladies
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Shomron   (01.11.07)
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome in the Jewish democratic State!
8. to 3: kahane please.

9. Sadly, Majadele will now be a target for PAL terrorists!
Umm El Kul Naqba   (01.11.07)
Sadly, Majadele will now be a target for PAL terrorists! No positive step towards peaceful co-existance can move forward without PAL terrorists trying to undermine it by terror and murder. I just hope that Majadele has adequate body guards.
10. Raleb, salaam alekum wamabruk
Sagi ,   Israel   (01.11.07)
I wish you all the best. I am greatly in favor of an Arab Minister, in fact more than one. I am greatly in favor of Arab Ambassadors and Arab civil servants in high positions. Raleb, in this instance I am dead against it. This is in no way personal. You have been used as a pawn in a dirty political game, the game being the survival of a non entity by the name of Peretz. You are aware of this and in my humble opinion you would be well advised to reject the offer and decline the post, for the sake of your honor. I would far rather see you as a Minister because you have earned it and are worthy of it and not as a pawn to serve the interests of others. I respect you and the fact that you are an Arab. I have contempt for Peretz and his dirty wheeling and dealing.
11. Not A Critical Position
David ,   Israel   (01.11.07)
Its not a critical position and is a purely political appointment on the part of a gasping government that is going to get trounced in the next elections. We go to elections in 2008 - he's got a year and then he's looking for a job again.
12. #6 Not in the KIRYON shopping center
Meir Elazar   (01.11.07)
When I visited the KIRYON shopping center not long ago, I found massive numbers of Israelis smoking right under the NO SMOKING sign. Was this enforced in any way? Absolutely not. On the other hand, when I photographed the various sites in the shopping center, the rude brazen Russian security guard jumped all over me threating me in every way. There is not a single NO PHOTOGRAPHY sign anywhere. This is not and IDF military base or a base that is a security risk. YET YIRYON WILL ALLOW SMOKING IN SMOKING AREAS BUT WILL PERSECUTE ISRAELIS AND FOREIGNERS WISHING TO PHOTOGRAPH THE QUAINT STORES AND SCENES IN THE SHOPPING CENTER. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND BOYCOTTING THE KIRYON UNTIL THEY ENFORCE THE NO SMOKING LAWS!!!!!!!!!!!!
13. Maybe...
Keren ,   SP-now in Israel   (01.11.07)
he will help to " clean" Israel from its enemies inside. I mean, maybe he will make arabs living in Israel to understand that they belong to a -and only- Jewish country and that they must fulfill their obligations as so,and love the Jewish land they live in ,not with the thought of hating Jews-as they do-,but respecting and accepting this fact. Maybe he will be helpful too to make arabs youngsters to go to the army the same way Jewish youngsters go. Maybe he will be helfull to put out of the country its enemies, even being them arabs as he is,and keep only the friends and loyal ones. Maybe he will be able to have this positive influence ,even being him Science, Technology, Culture Ministry. Yes,who knows he can be positive to Israel.
14. PeretzOlmert and the end of Israel
Michael ,   miami,usa   (01.11.07)
No big surprise that these criminals , who are having a hard time giving Israeli land to it's most wicked enemies, are now going to destroy Israel more directly by handing the internal control of Israel over to Israel hating Arabs. Peretz is a criminal of the highest degree. He and his ilk will destroy Israel more quickly than any Arab army ever could.
15. To #12 Meir Hear Hear!!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.11.07)
The Kiriyon is one of the worst and, as usual, no one does anything about it. The Karmiel Kikar Ha Ir is even worse and the Town Coucil just has excuses as to why they can't enfoce the law. They seem to manage very well with the parking meters! The Naharia Kanyon Tzafon is another example of no enforcement despite the "signs" threatening fines. You are right; if businesses were boycotted they might decide to "persuade" management to make those useless security guys who wander around in the centre to enforce they laws! Maybe Minister Majadele will surprise as all!
16. # 6# 12 # 15
Sagi ,   Israel   (01.11.07)
Israel suffers from serious medical problems, corruption and theft by Government officials, 2/3 people killed every day on the roads, sectorial violence for selfish gain. These are the diseases. The symptoms are standing under a "no smoking" sign and smoking, running a red light and in general showing contempt for the law. The answer is in punishment and education. Smoking where prohibited, an on the spot fine of 1000 $, parking in a disabled bay, car towed with release fee 1000 $, running a red light, 5000$ and license withdrawn for 5 years, Government corruption and theft, mandatory gaol sentence. Education starts in kindergarten, you bring in policemen to talk to the kids and explain to them the importance of respecting the law in order to prevent the breakdown of society and that privileges come alongside obligations. The kids will learn to respect policemen only if they are taught why it is important and only by coming face to face with them.
17. arab minister
sas ,   israel   (01.11.07)
well done!! kol hakavod!!
18. Israel vs. Iran to the Sports minister
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (01.11.07)
I'd love to see that soccer / football match, as the sports minister maybe he'll set it up. I bet it gets extremely high ratings.
