Could you commentators tell me what are the goals of the Israeli war/ aggression against Lebanon? If you get them right. Try telling me which of them have been achieved?! Unless the measure of victory is the killing of civilians, and the destruction of their Houses. Most comments came out of HATE. not common sense.
32. nasarallah
bawa ,   india   (01.20.07)
he can say his side of the story especially wen the other side can say theirs. too much strong reaction to his words will only owe allegiance to wat he is stating in other words get over it all of u this is a forever existing reality unless both sides smarten up and deal with the true issue i.e. genuine peace process.

1-Nasrallah hiding in a bunker is still for me more acceptable than a nation with nuclear power and building walls surrounding it to protect it . 2-Nasrallah to resign; if he does the one who will come after him will has same goal to free shebaa farms and the prisoners so not much of a change. 3-Perez remembered; well the reverse happened i read about nasrallah on israeli news papers more then about Perez. 4-Who won the war? no way israel can destroy hezbollah without having to destroy lebanon and same time his enemies in lebanon and this has been proven in last war. 5-Hezbollah nor shiaas have been only enemies to israel over the time. what hezbollah did is score a point that others also will try to do after that israel has been proven to be weaker than it was known.
34. KMR...WHY ARE YOU SO HATEFUL?#1
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (01.20.07)
That is the charm! Although your talk-back smells of hatred and pintless, you will tend to accept it without disclosing it how the Hizbullah's attained popularity despite the suffering. So, dont waste your time and learn more from this article.

36. Israel won the tactical war ONLY!
Abdullah ,   Kuwait City, Kuwait   (01.20.07)
Everyone whether a soldier or civilians knows for a fact that Israel has won the tactical war alone and not the other aspects of the war! Sure Lebanon lost a lot during its recent war with Israel but we also know that Israel has been planning for it for a long time but it was forces to execute it a bit earlier and made the an issue about the kidnapping of its soldiers to execute the war with Lebanon! I personally wish to see Jews and non Jews live in peace harmony here in the Middle East but with the current mindsets among us all, I seriously doubt ever seeing peace in the presumable future!

40. Israel is no more Invinsible
John ,   London,UK   (01.20.07)
Israel only destroyed Lebanese infrustructure and killed women and children because it is a barbaric state. It could not defeat Hezbollah nor could it take the towns on the border. Hezbollah successfully resisted the IDF and proved its lies of invinsibility. Israel is sacking its General who led the war. This is proof that Israel failed in its mission. States war aims were two: Free the kidnapped soldiers, and defeat Hezbollah. On both accounts the General failed. This failure led to him being fired. It is victory for Hezbollah. Israel will not mess with Lebanese gurillas in the future. Its been disgraced twice now. Once in 2000 when IDF fled south Lebanon and second in 2006, when it was humiliated again in south Lebanon.

Maybe the resignation of IDF Chief of Staff “Dan Halutz” is a correct and important step in the Israeli army… but that wasn’t the main objective of Hassan Nasrallah. Lately Nassrallah & all the supporters of Syria & Iran in Lebanon are busy to eliminate the Lebanese government and replace it with pro Syrian Iranian government. Its there fifty one days occupying down town of Beirut, After all this period Nassrallah loosing the objective of changing the current government. Few weeks ago Nassrallah tried to show his community that the Lebanese government was assisting the Israeli Government to assassinate him during the war. This issue was kaput when the community in Lebanon and specially Hezbollah supporters read about there allies the “Syrian government” & there calls with the Israeli government. All this missing and combination in the issues with Hezbollah led Nassrallah yesterday to give his supporters some in fluency to carry on with there protests & maybe they can make Lebanon another Iranian or “safad” country. That’s why he mentioned Israel in a long term during his interview.

If you were 100% Lebanese you would not be taking any sides. You would want only a leader who loved and worked only for Lebanon, not for ANY of its neighbours, near or far. We will take care of our own problems, even if it takes a long time. We are all brothers and sisters, even if that bothers some of us. And we will NEVER invite a foreign country to commit terrorist acts anymore on our land. The only solution is through internal talks and negotiations, and anyone in these talkbacks who gives a bad image of Lebanon or ANY of its sects should just pick up and live elsewhere. If every Lebanese thought this way (and there are many who do) we will be better off. And believe you me, all of this is just talk, talk, talk. No one in Lebanon will dare do anything violent as long long as there are still 100% patriotic Lebanese, and as long as our army is there to keep things under control.

Hani   (01.20.07)
Today the realities posed by 24/7 global media is checking Israel from committing unspeakable crimes in Lebanon. And since the world stood by Lebanon, rest assured that Israel CANNOT erase Lebanon because that would bring about its own end as an existant+"civilized" country.

what nasrallah doesn't realize is that the person that will be taking halutz's place will be 100% tougher on terrorism than halutz ever was. so, nasrallah, do not hold your breath and do not celebrate too much. it'll come back to bite you in the rear. what a waste of fire works.

what lebanese army are you talking about.????? the lebanese army has not been in a military operation for years, is not well equipped and has no clue of how to disarm hizbullah and terrorists in lebanon. this same lebanese army is not prepared, neither capable to deal with the situation present now in lebanon. additionally, they won't dare disarm or enter into conflict against hizbullah, especially in the south. so, your so called lebanese army is just decoration in uniforms.

I agree that my army may not have the weapons your brutal army does, but during the clashes that occurred in recent months between the parties in opposition at least they were able to keep things under control and immediately arrest trouble makers. I am not talking about disarming Hizbullah by force, as I don't think this can be done. There are other ways to do so - it is an INTERNAL affair. There is no way they will use their weapons against their fellow Lebanese. Furthermore, the only reason why the Hizb are so strong today is because we didn't have a strong enough army to protect our borders. That is how they came into being in the 80's. The Lebanese army were not allowed by the "powers that be" to have proper weapons. Sadly, foreign intervention has never worked for our good. This is why I am against any sort of ferign intervention.

you summation of the present situation in lebanon regarding hizbullah and the way this terrorist organization came to power in lebanon is very astute and correct. you claim that lebanon needed to protect its borders....i assume you are reffering to the decade of israeli military control of southern lebanon at the time....this, in your point of view, contributed to the "creation and birth" of hizbullah......"to protect your borders. based on your assumption that you may have needed protection against an israeli??? invasion???? after israel PULLED OUT OF LEBANON FOR GOOD...why was there a need for an hizbullah to protect your borders any more? israel pulled out and that was the end of it. why the creation of hizbullah? who was a threat to your borders? who was planning an invasion of same borders? after pulling out of southern lebanon, israel had no need or wish to go back into lebanon. we suffered casualties during the occupation and saw no need to be there any longer. we left! so, what was the threat to your borders? the creation of hizbullah on lebanese soil was planned and executed by iran/syria a very long time ago, and it was not with the intention of protecting the lebanese border, but with the intention of controlling lebanon, its government and the people. yes, hizbullah was very socially active by "BUYING" THE POOR LEBANESE IN SOUTHERN LEBANON with promises that they need a safe border against the "brutal zionist entity", giving families lots of iranian and syrian money, building hospitals, etc... and taking care of social/economic needs.....but all these nice gestures were done because eventually they wanted to do to lebanon and its government what they are gtrying to do presently. topple the regime and rule over the lebanese together with syria and iran. hizbullah is a proxy of these two countries. they created a country within another so that they can garner public support through hate messages and a common enemy to unite all arabs....same old story everywhere around the arab world...the zionist enemy! hizbullah, i believe, doesn't give a hoot about lebanon, stability and the lebanese people's safety and peace. lebanon, through them, became a puppet. iran/syria.hizbullah is playing with the lives of the lebanese and constantly using them for their own agenda. yes, your army finally woke up, but tghere is a lot of work to be done, the most important is to DISARM HIZBULLAH. if you don't, lebanon is in for a very chaotic situation and you'll definitaly loose everything you lebanese fought for to achieve after the long civil war. lebanon is a semi democracy unlike the other arab states. also progressive and educated. if you guys fall into hizbullah's hands, you can kiss your future good bye. many christians have left after the last war. many have fled to other countries and settled there knowing what the hizbullah outcome will be.
