1. This statement
Meni   (01.20.07)
"But we will not close the door for the next generation, because the weak don't always stay weak, and the strong won't stay strong," therefore forces israel to keep the palestinians weak.
2. 10 year truce
Steven ,   Kfar Sava Israel   (01.20.07)
What happens after 10 years? Another Intifada. Really does this guy think that the Israels are that stupid?????????????
3. So Haniyeh admits he is weak
JPS ,   Efrat   (01.20.07)
So Haniyeh doesn't have the strength now to build a proper country. Too bad, because I really wish he had the strength to own up to reality and deal with Israel on a permanent basis. Just like he is "with liberating any inch of Palestine", many of us are with liberating every inch of Israel. That, of course, won't buy either side peace.
4. #2 Olmert just gave Abbas 100 Million, Israel isnt stupid?
(01.20.07)
5. Take your 'truce' and shove it!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (01.20.07)
6. A proposal like this
Tracy W   (01.20.07)
says a lot about the Arabs' opinion of Israel's condition of weakness and desperation, and of the IQ of Olmert and friends. Not even a toddler would fall for such an offer, but Haniyeh thinks that with Olmert at the helm and the right amount of pressure from the West, Israel will agree to it. So for 10 years of no "war', Israel would give up control of those territories and allow a massive arms buildup, complete with WMDs, right within sight of Israel's cities. This proposal is so ridiculous and insulting, it should have been already officially rejected outright by every Western country and Israel.
7. Reaction to this could qualify as a Sanity Test
Tracy W   (01.20.07)
Any Israeli who even considers the possibility of agreeing to it, should be immediately made to go for further psychological assessment.
8. So they get everything and yet can keep on murdering Jews?
Sam ,   Virginia, USA   (01.20.07)
This makes about as much sense as selling a house, collecting full payment and then demanding it back for nothing after 10 years. Does Haniyeh really think that the western media is stupid enough to think that this makes Hamas a reasonable negotiator? Wait, (sigh) don't answer that question.
9. Hudna
DWolf ,   San Jose, CA   (01.20.07)
enough. Stop even covering Haniyeh and his hatred. We've heard it all already.
10. Accept only unconditional surrender
German Kafir ,   Regensburg, Germany   (01.20.07)
Why is it that they can even suggest a "truce" if they are really facing genocide as they would have the world believe? I say keep tightening your grip around their throats until they forever renounce jihad. Whatever their fate, I care not.
11. Israel won the wars, remember?
Tracy W   (01.20.07)
No victorious country should be forced to give up land for peace. On the contrary. It works all the way around. The Arab population in the territories must be allowed to enter Jordan and Egypt. Jordan is Palestine.
12. Why is a terrorist dictating the terms?
Freejay ,   Israel   (01.20.07)
Tell this bastard to go to hell. They should never get west bank because it isnt theirs to take
13. When Hanieh starts eating porkchops,,,maybe then ;-)
(01.20.07)
14. I want some of whatever these guys are smoking!
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (01.20.07)
15. Only Olmert would be stupid enough
Alon ,   Jerusalem   (01.20.07)
to fall for this...God, we are in trouble.
16. Truce Today, War Tomorrow
Dave Levy ,   Burbank, USA   (01.20.07)
Typical Arab double talk and double think from the leader of Hamas. This is what is really going on: Hamas wants to create a different image for themselves...from destroying Israel, to acceptance of the Jewish state (for 10 years at least), while they get planes, tanks, artillery, missiles and covering from a nuclear Iran. Like a corp long term plan, this is a clever ruse to gain time. There is a Road Map and UN 242 which precludes such absurd offers. However, Olmert will meet with Abbas and Condi soon, to discuss a Palestinian State, no matter Hamas. Abbas will say, "We accept Israel's right to exist, and Hamas a 10 year truce. If refused, Israel is to be held accountable for all that ails the world, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Micronesia." Israel is again put on the defensive.
17. I hope Israel will never be naive enough to accept this!
Roni   (01.20.07)
18. awful
m ,   tlv   (01.20.07)
the awful thing is boys and girls i can just see the headlines in the next few days... Israeli PM agrees to truce with the Hamas...... then later of course the inevitable.... new elections called in Israel..... but would be too little too late as usual
19. woo hoo to kafir from germany!
f ,   tel aviv   (01.20.07)
20. the strong and the weak
Steve G ,   Kew Gardens, NY, USA   (01.20.07)
"the weak don't always stay weak, and the strong won't stay strong." However as Abba Eban pointed out, the Palestinians always stay the Palestinians.
21. 10 year truce
jeremy ,   Upper galilee   (01.20.07)
Why only 10 years. What do we need a truce for? If they want a state, ok then stop terror, disarm and live in peace. Other wise we need to hit them and keep hitting them till they relize that arms is not the way to do things.
22. "We are with liberating any inch of Palestine,"
(01.20.07)
this dosn't... sound like peace to me...
23. The EU probably thinks this best idea since sliced croissant
Alan ,   SA   (01.20.07)
24. No truce. I think if this is the attitude, the people
Micha   (01.20.07)
who agree with this jerk should be pushed into Egypt and Jordan, respectively. the wars were won. That's how it works. The dome of the rock can also be moved to Jordan. Our temple mount sits below that structure. How dare people have built it on our holiest of sites. enough with this crap. We're tired of it. It's all BS anyway, there's no trust to be formed with that segment of the world. Israel is standing up for her rights. She will not be raped anymore by murderous thugs.
25. Levantine bazaar
Uzi ,   Haifa   (01.20.07)
Haniyeh keeps being vociferously talkative and 'creative' because he has nothing to offer to anybody; Israel, his own people or great friends in Damascus.
26. IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM A "CEASE-FIRE"
Same thing ,   Different Day   (01.20.07)
27. #5 - Chaya - I like your economy of words...
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (01.20.07)
this is really the stupidest yet.
28. PM of Pali , ISMAIL HANIEy, you.. lost all support
bentham ,   singapore   (01.20.07)
....they prefer Abbas to you.Ismail Haniey is out, go for an early election soon.
29. C'mon, Haniyeh, admit it
Israel: don't reward ,   bad behavior   (01.20.07)
Nobody gives a flying crap about how the Palestinians solve their problems. So, Haniyeh thinks he can haggle for a state like an oriental rug salesman? Israel already has a state and will continue to have a state because it's goal is to provide a nation for a group of people who refuse to be subject to the whims of those who outnumber them. A nation is built not only on land, but in the hearts of the people. Your means to achieve your goals are ultimately counterproductive because they offer no ideals for people other than suffering, dying, and waiting around for salvation that is unlikely to come. Even if you had a state, you have already proved that you cannot run a government, so what makes you so naive as to think that if you only had the land you desire, then everything would be pie in the sky for you and your people? Ten year truce? This is nothing but a childish ruse negotiated by a man who thinks his bad behavior should be rewarded. It proves that the palestinian leaders have no concept of how to go about negotiating peace.
30. obviously Olmert Livni and Peretz will agree to this
aaron ,   ra'anana   (01.20.07)
because they are STUPID
