Wait...I am a person of Israel. You didn't ask me.... If you do ask me, I would say tht Peres is a professional politician that knows nothing other then how to keep his job. His good for no one but himself. We need a leader that is more concerned about the people then their own job...WHERE IS HE/SHE??????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Moshiach NOW!!!!

8. It is a ceremonial function only, it is a waste to
bentham ,   singapore   (01.24.07)
see Peres play only a ceremonial role. Unless Peres want to shut down. Can the President of Israel call for the account of the state ? Written rule it is a YES but under conventions, NO cos of contituitional repercusion. The Executive of the State or the Govt of the Day will surely clash with the President. Peres is a man who will not keep quiet, he must make issues, he is a clever man, to take the post.

12. NO, NO, NO --- Not again this " TIRELESS SUBVERSIVE "
Enough is ,   Enough   (01.24.07)
There is a saying in Hebrew about people like Shimon Peres : חז"ל אמרו: כל הבורח מהכבוד הכבוד רודף אחריו וכל הרודף אחר הכבוד, הכבוד בורח ממנו. "If one chases after honor, honor runs away from him. If one runs away from honor, honor chases after him." Mr. Peres belongs to the first criteria of people ,,, those who are chasing, all their lives, after honor ...! Mr. Peres, at your age - ((( 84 ))) -you better go home to your wife, Sonia ....(whome you probably haven't seen for a very long time).
13. Rabbi Yisrael M. Lau for President
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (01.24.07)
He is a man of honor.
14. Surprised
Sol   (01.24.07)
I am very surprised at all of you, what ever happened to “innocent until proven guilty”? Especially since there are quite a number of people who have it in their best interests to frame him, and they also have the resources to do it.
15. #14
ISRAEL   (01.24.07)
IT`S CALLED CHANGE.
16. Why do we even have a president?
Freejay ,   Israel   (01.24.07)
What an utter waste of money electing a president when we already have a PM. No wonder we pay such high taxes !! This is called corruption at its grandest scale, looking after mates.
17. When I see the alternatives
Ella ,   Israel   (01.24.07)
we're better off with NONE of them. They're all clones of each other, so similar to each other , same dubious antics that we've had enough of already... and that's no compliment to anyone of them, or us.
18. PERES = VULTURE ...end
(01.24.07)
19. We Can Do Better Than Peres
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.24.07)
20. Rabbi Lau the most appropriate
eddie ,   israel   (01.24.07)
Though irreligious i would support Rabbi Lau. He is a man with high morals and ethics. Those who oppose him are practicing discrimination and intolerance since they do not oppose him based on his character, but rather his dress.
21. To all candidates
Sagi ,   Israel   (01.24.07)
Please get out of our lives once and for all. We do not want any of you. You have been meddling in our lives far too long and you have made a royal mess of this country. An immediate referendum should be held with two questions. A) Do you want a President, Y/N. B) Who should elect him, Knesset or People. The time has arrived for very very radical reform in this society of ours. If it does not come now then disaster will follow. In a democracy elected officials are there to serve the People and not themselves. In our variant of democracy they have been serving themselves for far too long, and may I add, with very large portions. Enough is enough, go ! I personally have contempt for the redundant office of President and I am convinced that the vast majority of citizens is with me on this. It is our country, we should decide, not the MK's who are only fixing "jobs for the boys".

Sagi ,   Israel   (01.24.07)
His character I know not. His dress I dislike. His forced imposition of his ways on mine I dislike. The fact that he would be representing a small minority of our citizens and using high office to further their interests disqualifies him in my opinion. Most of all I despise the fact that 50% of the population would sidelined by him, they would be prevented from shaking his hand ( he himself stated this ). I hope that he will not be President. I hope that if he is that no self respecting woman in this country will ever set foot in the President's residence. The simple fact that he stated this should be sufficient to remove him from the list of candidates, it is an insult, not just to women, but to our society as a whole.
23.  # 13 Kyle, Southpark
Sagi ,   Israel   (01.24.07)
That's in America, I believe. Choose your own President and we shall choose ours. We do not need a bearded wonder to "symbolize" our society. In fact it would be a case of gross misrepresentation.
