The EU as a whole sent almost half a BILLION dollars in 2006. The UN Relief and Works Agency sent some 80 percent of their budget to their Palestinian chapter. This resulted in annual aid of over 1100 dollars per capita to each Palestinian. Perhaps that doesn't seem like much. If so, merely compare it with the FIVE DOLLARS per capita annual average that the organization bequeathed to Somalia. And let's recall that the cost of living in the Middle East, especially in less technologically developed areas, is MUCH lower than in Europe, so basic needs such as food and shelter are much cheaper. CLEARLY, THE MONEY ITSELF IS NOT THE ISSUE. Rather, the issue is that the money is not going to those Palestinians truly in need (not surprising considering the fact that, even after Arafat embezzled billions from his own people, international organizations have still mind-boggling refrained from establishing mechanisms to monitor the use of their donated capital in this region). So where is that money going? If we take a quick glance at another statistic, the one telling us that there are five guns per every person in Gaza, we find our answer. Palestinian leadership constantly prioritizes guns over butter. And they can't even blame this last statistic on occupation. Thursday and Friday's violent internal clashes (which were only the latest round in months of internal violence) show that the leading groups use guns to solve almost ALL disputes, even amongst their own brethren. Someone ought to let them know that dialogue is much cheaper and would allow them to put more food on the table of the average Palestinian.

Neither Catalonia, Basque Country, etc has been "occupied" they have been always Spain and never along all the history: "nations" In Spain we have our own terrorists (ETA, Al Quaeda) and we DON'T like these people OK? and the majority of spaniards are with Israel.

Not a day goes by that I don't feel deep shame and revulsion at the deeds and words of Spanish government. Unfortunately, it is not true that Spaniards supports Israel. They live in total ignorance of the true facts - thanks to their biased press coverage. Even in churches, anti-Israel, pro-Islamic views are aired in sermons.
