31. Barack and Hillary are One
Tom ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.29.07)
I believe what we are witnessing is an elaborate ballet leading to a Hillary and Barack administration. He's just being groomed to be her running mate. There is only one policy toward Israel and it will come from Hillary and her advisers. Barack will be relegated to ceremonial tasks.
32. Distinction
Caleb ,   MNUSA   (01.29.07)
Senate Hillary Clinton has been a staunch supporter of Israel and for that she deserves credit and appreciation from Jews. this may seem like minutiae, but that last part should read: credit and appreciation from [Israelis] Not the same thing.
33. I agree with you 100%
Rosalee ,   Boise, USA   (01.29.07)
It makes you wonder what will happen if either of two get in office as president. All we can do is pray that God protects us and Isreal.
34. Jenny, you go girl.
RosaLee ,   Boise, USA   (01.29.07)
Everything you said is true. Israel should not give up her land. They fought so hard for it. To give it away is against everything they stand for. These people don't need the land that was promised to Israel by God. They just destroy it...look what they did to Gaza.
35. Candidates for U.S. President
Ted J. Mapp ,   Chicago USA   (01.29.07)
We Americans are not concerned about what is "good" for Israel. Americans are concerned about what is good for Americans. Israel does not select candidates on the basis of what is good for the United States they select individuals deemed good for their country. Americans should and will do the same. Anybody have a problem with that.
36. So what's that policy going to be 31#?
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (01.29.07)
Ba Da Boom? Israel gets the big one from Iran? Lets be real....neither Obama or Clinton will protect or help Israel. They won't protect the United States. Hillary just wants to redecorate the White House again. Put up the Christmas tree....Do the Easter Egg Hunt thing. Collect rich mans welfare in the rich mans big house. She never really wanted to work or make any hard decisions. The Clinton's left that to President Bush.
37. "Soros is a shame to the jewish people"!!??
Randy ,   Monterey, USA   (01.29.07)
Actually, that comment is an embarrassment to the human species. As to Bush, I only wish we could ship him right over to Israel--you're welcome to the imbecile. Take him now. Please. Soros, at least, is a thoughtful man--and we won't even talk about his financial brilliance. "All liberals hate themselves and love the terrorists." Come on, this comment is political discourse on the level of a rude child.
38. Deciding the American President
Randy ,   Monterey, USA   (01.29.07)
How about we have an election of an American president decided by Americans with the interest of Americans in mind--instead of the interests of Israel? That would be nice. Or would you prefer if I gave the thumbs down to Olmert from California? I can do that for you, if you would like. Naturally, American Jews who are actually concerned about the U.S. and its interests are welcome to participate. Rabbi Brackman, whose only interest seems to be Israel, should consider immigrating there. I think the IDF could probably put him to some practical use.
39. What are you talking about?
Randy G. ,   Monterey, USA   (01.29.07)
Rick, I don't even know what you're trying to say! Are you accusing him of being an Islamic terrorist ("attended a Madrassa") or a close follower of Charles Darwin? ("secularist") At least organize your thoughts before you commit your slurs.
40. Barack and Hillary Can America Rely on either?
batgirl 666 ,   usa   (01.29.07)
How about a canidate that puts America first? that would be a novel idea. We already have pleanty that put Israel first.
41. America comes first
K H ,   USA   (01.29.07)
Shouldn't the USA come before Israel? As an American I think it should
42. "Allow" ?
tevye ,   USA   (01.29.07)
"allow" ? So now Israel - not the American people - gets to decide will be president of the USA? Wow, Israel really IS the enemy...
43. Two Words
Jim James ,   USA   (01.29.07)
Jimmy Carter
44. #38........Bang on
Jerry ,   Canada   (01.29.07)
What a novel idea, Americans deciding who should be American president. Imagine a President who put America's interests first and not Israel's. Does seem a little far fetched though. I agree, perhaps Georgie boy should be shipped off to Israel, since he's far more popular over there then in America.
45. to #44 and #38
denon   (01.29.07)
This shows what morons you andd #38 are. Chill and go to the polls in 2008. Jews have unique connection to the state of Israel - nothing wrong with that - it doesn't make them bad Americans. What, Irish from Boston shouldn't want the candidate to be a friend of Ireland? American interests do come first for American President - but this is a forum for Israely newspaper - so don't be surprised if people discuss Israely interests here. While Israel shares the common interests with USA as the only democracy in ME - it is Ok. I am an American and a Jew and I have no problem checking what would be the foreign policy of the new Prez. I am not immigrating to Israel though. It's a pitty I'll have to live with you, the idiots.
46. it appears this article was linked to on a jew hating site
Jenny   (01.29.07)
47. USA will come FIRST-SECOND-THIRD-weather any1 likes it or nt
erik ,   new york USA   (01.29.07)
Shame on all those who carry american citizenship and claim israel's interest over american. If thats not treason than i don't know what is. Here's a clear statement to you ALL.... AMERICANS WILL CHOOSE A CANDIDATE WHO WILL PUT PUT AMERICA ABOVE ALL AND EVERYTHING. America is for americans and americans alone. if israeli interest is same as american, than you all don't have to worry about. but AMERICA COMES FIRST WEATHER ANYONE LIKES IT OR NOT. You and anyone and everyone, can sitt back and talk and chit chat all you want about who's good for israel or any other country and I assure you that it will be US Americans who will have the Final Word on That. Pure and Simple. USA COMES FIRST SECOND AND THIRD.
48. what is best for israel
adolph ,   anchorage ak usa   (01.29.07)
who cares, if your an american citizen it's time to put america first.
49. "Can Israel rely on either"
Gordon Wagner ,   San Diego CA USA   (01.29.07)
>We simply cannot afford to allow a person with incoherent, weak and inconsistent views on national security and foreign policy to become the Democrats' presidential nominee Are you kidding..? I'm a US citizen and I'm a lot more interested in candidates who will put the USA first, second and third. ISRAEL IS A FOREIGN COUNTRY, not a resource farm for Israel. Maybe "not a Golem" would be a better way to put it. Pull your fangs out of our throat, please.
50. This article makes me want to support Obama
Not Bush ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.29.07)
The right solution to our problems with our neighbors (yes, even including Palestinians) is making peace, not bombing them into oblivion. Violence from one side always leads to violence from the other side (and US/Israel really are one side in this conflict), and it has to stop. A US president who does not wage insane wars, and instead tries to talk reason into both sides (I'm no supporter of terrorists, but I can't honestly claim we did no wrong in Lebanon!) is best for Israel, best for the US, and best for the world.
51. article
sol ,   rochester US   (01.29.07)
Have you ever considered that the primary responsibility of presidential nominees and of presidents in the US is to the US?
52. response to #45
Jerry ,   Canada   (01.29.07)
There is another democracy in the ME, last time I checked Hamas was the democractically elected government of Gaza, but Israel dosn't agree with their policies so along with the U.S. tagging along they impose sanctions against them. So explain to me how it is in America's best interest to follow along what Israel is doing???
53. why would USA
chris ,   miami, USA   (01.29.07)
need to elect a president that cares so much about isreal? I contend the opposite to be the necessary and sufficient case.
54. Care more about Isreal than US?
tom ,   chicago   (01.29.07)
Does Rabbi and posters care more about Israel than U.S? It's American boys and girls who are dying in Iraq, not Isrealis. If Isreal wants to be so tough in the MIddle East let them invade Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc. Why should American blood be spilled for Isreal? Call me an anti-semite but I'm a jew too.
55. Democratic Nonminee
David Abrahamson ,   Boca Raton, FL USA   (01.29.07)
I'm a jew that lives in America. Did it ever occur to any Isreali's that the American President should be concerned, first and foremost, with the national interest of AMERICA, and not Isreal? To some this may seem like a slanderous statement, and I doubt if this even gets past the editors and gets published. But American should be looking out for America, just as Isreal should be looking out for Isreal. Radical idea? maybe not. Think about it.
56. Steve, #36, Her Policy
Tom ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.29.07)
I can only guess that her policy will be similar to the policy of the first Clinton administration. It will change daily, depending on the most recent polls. It will pacify and submit to anyone who acts brutally (i.e. Arafat). If it is forced into a confrontation by an angry electorate, it will lob missiles from a comfortably safe distance. It will be self aggrandizing and will concentrate on domestic social welfare programs at the expense of everything else, including economic health and terrorist threats. It will try to turn over to the U.N. any hard decisions globally.
57. Jerry, #52
(01.29.07)
One vote, one time is not a democracy. The Hamas ultimate goal is Islamic dictatorship. A true democracy is self perpetuating, not self destructive.
58. response to #57
Jerry ,   Canada   (01.29.07)
one vote, one time.......therefore, Iraq should not be counted either then with their one vote, one time.....right??
59. Hilary Clinton
Jennifer ,   Seattle, Wa   (01.29.07)
Why is Clinton finally running for president? Is she running due to the fact America dislikes all of the republicans due to the efforts made by George JR. with the Iraq mess?
60. #59, Why?
Tom ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.29.07)
She's been running since before she met her husband. She's finally at the presidential candidate stage. Her whole adult life, including her marriage was politcally oriented. Check out her bio.
