1. Read this since this law isnt passed nor official
The "Peres Law" – which stipulates that the president's election by the Knesset be carried out in an open vote – will not be brought before the Knesset for approval this week. The bill was approved by the government Sunday, but Prime Minister Olmert's bureau has reportedly decided to wait before bringing the law to the Knesset because its chances of passing are deemed low.
The bill requires a majority of 61 MKs to pass. Labor, Likud, Yisrael Beiteinu, Meretz and the Arab factions are all opposed to the bill. In addition, some members of the ruling Kadima faction are against it too.
The "Peres Law" is expected to increase Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres' chances of defeating the front running candidate, Reuven "Ruby" Rivlin of the Likud.

2. peres bill
regardless of personalities, changing laws and rules to accommodate a single individual is the end of the rule of law as we know it. Another cynical ploy by the most cynical leaders which degrade themselves and Israel too. I'm watching with great disgust these fathers of nation who rule our lives. What's next in line?

4. Peres?
Peres might be deserving of being president if he said two things and did three more:
He should tell us why he withheld information about President Katsav's "problems" until after he,Peres, was likely to be supported for President in Katsav's place.
He should explain why he needs the Presidency so badly that the voting rules must be changed in order for him to get elected.
He should return the Noble Prize for Peace that he won by resurrecting the worst terrorist of our generation - Arafat.
He should personally visit, and ask forgiveness from, the families of everyone killed in post-Oslo terror attacks.
He should personally visit, and ask forgiveness from, everyone wounded in post-Oslo terror attacks.

5. The MK's continue
to behave and act in a manner which only invokes contempt. They have no right to choose a President. If this country wants a President this is up to the People to decide. Once this question is decided it is then up to the People to decide who will be President, not the political parties. This country belongs to the People, not to the politicians and the sooner these corrupt manipulative individuals realize this the better for all of us. We have had enough of Tammany Hall politics. We need decent people in control and they won't arrive on the scene until the present ones depart once and for all together with their corrupt system.
