Peres: Assad should learn from Sadat    Roee Nahmias
1. Important Photo of Sadat
Look at his tie: http://www.norskisraelsenter.no/images/land-for-peace/sadat-dayan-1.jpg
(01.31.07)
2. And Peres should learn from Begin!
(01.31.07)
3. Dear Peres, we love you, but you don't represent us
(01.31.07)
4. compromise
All discussion is positive. Over a long enough period people stop demonising each other.
paul malykont ,   los osos, usa   (01.31.07)
5. Like Mahmood Abbas??? Dellusional Peres at it again
Abbas signed into PA law extensive payouts to terrorist families. This includes parents, grandparents, uncles & aunts, & even cousins. Abbas is EXACTLY like Arafat. He is a Trojan Horse. He is not a "moderate" as the PC croud wants us to believe.
malcolm   (01.31.07)
6. Freedom?? Who are you kidding?
Peres didn't affect me," said Lubna Niali, a 19-year-old student of Syrian decent who studies at the Georgetown University branch in Doha. "We have different beliefs and ideologies. I believe in freedom of expression and elections and I do not see that happening in Palestine. They live under dictatorship and they are "concerned" about the "freedom of expression" and "elections" in Palestine!!!

7. #1, I'm looking at his tie....
whats teh big deal? You really think it was a conspiracy to show swastikas? I wonder where you would pan out on the rorsach test?
johnnie ,   usa   (01.31.07)
8. Worthless to discuss with those who talks Martyrs & Traitors
In Islamic world it is Worthless to discuss with those who talks "Martyrs & Traitors". For them, a "stupid suiside bomber is a Martyr" and an "intelligent negotiator is a Traitor".
KMR ,   Middle East   (01.31.07)
9. HE DID LEARN FROM ANWAR! DO IT AND YOU DIE!
(01.31.07)
10. Peres will soon be out
He is of not too great consequence any longer and in the not too distant future he will be out of the government along with the Kadima braintrusts. He can then stand on the sidelines and blow as much air as he wishes, like the seeming myriads of ex-security people who are urging compromise (surrender) because they're too egotistical for a quiet retirement of grandchildren and bocce ball.
Steven ,   San Francisco   (01.31.07)
11. Assad should learn, full stop!
Uzi ,   Haifa   (01.31.07)
12. land for peace means Syria can give up land, too
People forget that Egypt did not get all of its land back post-67. It got Sinai, while Gaza was given over formally to Israeli control. Granted, this was Sadat's decision bc he didn't want to have to deal with the ticking bomb that is Gaza (smart man). Nonetheless, it sets a precedent for a ME peace treaty where both sides make land concessions, not only Israel. It sets a precedent for peace, even if someone doesn't get 100 percent of 'their' land back. This only strengthens the existing historical centuries-old precedent that the LOSING SIDE of a war, particularly if it was the one who initiated the military confrontation, is the one who needs to concede land. In other words, everything indicates that there's nothing crazy about asking Syria to make land concessions, if it, too, truly wants peace (which it and foreign analysts claim is the case). Land concessions by Syria would be an excellent 'good faith' gesture from a nation who, based on their ongoing funding and support of terror groups, seems to be in much more dire need of showing good faith than Israel.
NL ,   Israel   (01.31.07)
13. #9 Learn from Sadat
And that is a bad thing?
MS ,   Holy Land   (01.31.07)
14. Lubna, are you speaking of Syria, your own country?
Dear Lubna Niali, I envy your age and your naivety, but are you sure your words are meant to Israel and not to UNIVERSALLY KNOWN FREE SYRIA? Here are you words: 'We have different beliefs and ideologies. I believe in freedom of expression and elections.'... How right, how right!
Guido ,   Milano Italy   (01.31.07)
15. Did Sadat really wear a tie with a swastika when he visted
Did Sadat really wear a tie with a swastika when he visted Israel in 1977? Israel should have kicked his ass out.
Ken Stoler   (01.31.07)
16. Peres, learn from Ben Gurion, retire from politics!
(01.31.07)
17. Isn't Peres supposed to develop the Negev?
Since when is he part of the foreign ministry? Peres RETIRE already. It's way overdue for you.
Esther ,   Ofarim, Israel   (01.31.07)
18. The Qataris are just psyched...
...because "Al Yahud" is there, in person, making appearances on their talk shows and talking about Levantine problems with a bunch of Gulf Coasters. Whatever - I love Peres as a hold-out of the "dor hazaken", but really, what's going on here?
Mush DeLeon ,   Brooklyn, New York   (01.31.07)
19. Lubna you are right
while the Israeilis are talking dictatership , they turned out to be much worse !!!
Juan ,   Canada   (02.02.07)
