i quite agree with you. however, what you may not believe or realize is that the palestinian street and common man, uneducated, poor, angry and desolate has been fed so many lies in the past and so indocrinated to blame all their misery on israel and the west from babyhood, that it is quite impossible for any of them to discount the "dangerous israeli work" as anything but work to improve the aspect of the premises around the mosque. sadly, most if not all palestinians and arabs believe salah's allegation. arab muslim have a persecution complex and a depraved mentality steeped in symbolism, conspiracies, etc.... basically a paranoid persecutary mentality that for a very long time, centuries, has halted their progress and modernization of thought. a sane person may shake his head at such outlandish accusation, but rest assured that the arab mind takes these very very seriously. the basic reason they do is because in islam and the kuran, the word of their leaders and clerics and mullahs are absolute truths, not to be questioned or negated. questioning the cleric's judgement or words is haram, not allowed. when a civilization doesn't practice ijtihad, thinking, judging, questionning, it ends up backwards, uneducated and, as you see here, mindless. very easy for clerics and mullahs to sell their words as absolute truths to a backwards public that practices desert islam!

If only Sheikh Salah's prediction were to come true. This would correct the monstrous blunder made by Israel 40 years ago when it gave the Wakf adminstration of the Temple Mount. We've seen since how the Wakf has ruthlessly excavated on the mount and trashed archeological evidence of our Jewish history in the process.
