Aloni's truth is like Pravda's truth. It doesn't matter if you are left wing or right wing - saying that something is so does not make it so. Saying that Carter is telling the truth in his book is like calling Jordan "Palestine". They're both false. Aloni's biggest mistake was to not even blink at the title - itself so misleading as to render the contents worthless. Carter's attempt to smear Israel with the "apartheid" label is a non-starter. Israel is not South Africa, and the two cases are so different as to bring into question Carter's true intentions - which are obviously not to stimulate debate. Aloni missed out totally that Carter's goal is apparently not to stimulate debate, but to drive it into the ground with deception and false accusations.

I can imagine that there are much more unacceptable claims in Carter's book than those brought by the author of this article. For example, Carter's statement that the fence is built entirely on Palestinian territory, is more true than otherwise. The "appreciable" autonomy - is an empty statement for one must qualify appreciable, and if Carter thinks that there is no appreciable autonomy- he is entitled to it. I would never qualify Madam's Aloni statement as false assertions, these are opinable matters, and definitely some roads are much more Jewish than are not and the fqact that some israeli arabs use those doesn't prove a point. At any rate, I would expect more serious criticism of Carter's claims. Inyaki, Biulbao, the eternal capital of the basques.

Aloni has forgotten that words are sacred -- the only containers we humans have for carrying around truth. If we use words to deceive and mislead, we will lose our credibility as a communicator. Words are also seeds which, when said/written, grow into the very events/conditions we then find ourselves walking through. She writes about an "apartheid-like" state. Is this what she is willing into being by her choice of words?
