Isn't this special? More sweetheart deals, courtesy of AIPAC and other interested parties.
What's good for Israel is good for the USA? What's good for the war-profiteers is good for the USA?
There are the "good reasons" for this bill and then there are the real reasons for this bill. It's the old flimflam.
According to opensecrets, org, Peter King is a high roller - 2005-2006 Total Receipts: $1,485,440
2005-2006 Total Spent: $2,075,502. PAC contributions amounted to 44.2% of his revenue.
For the other ranking member, Bennie Thompson, opensecrets.org claims that Thompson is a high roller too - 2005-2006 Total Receipts: $1,375,701
2005-2006 Total Spent: $1,393,496. PAC contributions to Bennie account for 59.4% of his revenue.
These two Congressmen are a pair of seasoned pipers playing a familiar tune - these troubadors of tribulation have risen to the top of the heap, not through innovation or virtuousity, they did it by playing sentimental favorites, as selected by those who pay the piper.
I suspect highfalutin hijinx.
What we need to be doing is identifying and addressing the root causes for the "terror", not simply attacking the effects of these root causal elements. We need to address the causes, not just the effects.
But there is no functional lobby pressing for such a logical and pragmatic approach to addressing and eliminating the injustices, percieved and real, that generate the "terror" phenomenon. There's no money in it and there are no votes in it.
Fighting "terror", on the other hand, is a lucrative new industry and a sure-fired, voter hot-button.
