31. #11 How Dare You
Daniel ,   New York   (03.01.07)
This insane and forbidden idea comes from ONE MEMBER of the Sanhedrin. How do you dare to Invoke the name of R' Steinsaltz around this lunatic nationalist messianic garbage?
32. THIS SANHEDRIN IS AN UNKNOWN RELIGIOUS GROUP
stude ham   (03.01.07)
This sanhedrin was not constituted by any known religious organization. they're most likely just another jews for jesus front.
33. Sacrifice ASAP
Adam Norlander ,   Eau Claire, USA   (03.01.07)
You can read how this all plays out in revelation. Begining with a temple and sacrifice already reinstituted. Then comes the seven year peace with the Arabs, Anti-Christ, Armageddon, And the Reign of Christ Jesus,........wow....isn't it crazy that God would know that this would all happen...oh yeah He is God. Point of blog: It is not a matter of if but when.
34. Why can't we rebuild the Temple without killing animals?
Steve   (03.01.07)
35. Hadar, do you eat a lot of meat?
Allan   (03.01.07)
Explain to me how killing a defenseless animal atones for you sin; by cutting its throat and letting the blood slowly ooze out of it. How would you like to have your throat cut Hadar? Explain to us how slitting the throat of a helpless animal and draining its blood makes you pure before your Maker.
36. "Jesus will come back when sacrifices resume"
boi ,   nyc   (03.01.07)
that is exactly what i was taught in christian churches. be VERY wary of this group.
37. Sanhedrin, show us a favor and sacrifice yourselves
(03.01.07)
38. Amen!!! # 2
papa jay   (03.01.07)
39. radical fringe
Nathan ,   Montreal, Canada   (03.01.07)
The talkbacks show lots of either radical ignorance or radical hatred of Judaism. The Pesach sacrifice doesn't require a rebuilt Temple or Messiah. Except for Rav Kook, ZT"L, most Orthodox opinions anticipate the return of animal sacrifices. If you want to know their meaning, go study. A talkback or sound-bite will not assuage your bitter indignation.
40. Uriel #17, Muslims show more respect for Judaism than you do
Alon ,   Yad Eliyahu   (03.01.07)
Shame on you for displaying such ignorance and hatred toward Judaism and your own people. Muslims show more respect (as we see from Abdullah's (#14) talkback) for our traditions than extreme leftist religious haters like you and your religion bashing buddies do in Tel Aviv. Shame on you. Learn a little about your history, heritage and culture.
41. NO. 1 Right on the button but
Jon ,   UK   (03.01.07)
let's start and finish with them!
42. I love it!
RedStarYeast ,   USA   (03.01.07)
This is the sort of lunacy that makes Israel such a colorful and picturesque country.
43. No 25
Dan ,   London   (03.01.07)
Moses was not allowed to enter the land because he saw a better place and it was not an earthly place? Moshe failed as the leader to bring the people to a hightened spiritual awareness, thereby losing the privilege of being the leader and entering Israel.
44. THE TEMPLE WILL BE REBUILT AFTER THE WAR OF GOG AND MAGOG.
AVRAHAM ,   JERUSALEM   (03.02.07)
THE NEXT WAR WITH IRAN IS THE START OT IT. ONLY AFTER GOD OF ISRAEL COMING TO SAVE ISRAEL THE TEMPLE WILL BE REBUILT.
45. #39 Nathan
Radical Fringe   (03.02.07)
Some things are wrong. You don't need to quote sacred texts to us. Killing animals to satisfy a religious need to purify your sins is wrong. Life is sacred and the law of nature says it's OK to kill to preserve your own life. Humans kill and mistreat animals for reasons that have nothing to do with survival. Honor your Maker by respecting Life.
46. Fringe Rabbi? Hartman Is About As Fringe As Any Reform Rabbi
Yonatan Koss ,   Chiloquin, Oregon   (03.01.07)
Hartman is not an Orthodox Rabbi even if he claims he is. He promotes single gender weddings and all other reform agendas, no wonder he says animal sacrifices are going backwards! They had to hunt for this wacko Rabbi to get his opinion. His little institute and the money that funds it no doubt come from the reform movement, he sides with all their practices. The Sanhedrin are not fringe Rabbi’s, they are very conservative Rabbi’s unlike the reform minded Hartman.
47. HAAAAAAAAAAA
hanina   (03.02.07)
48. Stop Occupation now. This is not your land!
(03.02.07)
You delibratelt attacked East Jerusalem in 1967. You even brag about it, and want to build a Temple and remove the Muslim mosque. When muslims built a mosque there, there was nothing on that site. This is well established in history. Stop your crap stuff about a Jewish Temple. Jerusalem had no signifcant Jewish population for 2000 years. Whole Palestine Jews either converted to christianity, and later Islam, or left.... You cannot undo history just like that.
49. To number 10. Did you know that Benny Hin is Palestinian!
(03.02.07)
50. Patrilineal descent, gay rabbis, now this!
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (03.02.07)
Do we really need yet another stimulus to fracture the Jewish people? A generation ago, the Reform movement pushed to overthrow the established principle of matrilineal descent to recognize Jewish status as flowing also through the father. So now who's really a Jew? The Conservatives are now, in some communities, expected to recognize openly gay rabbis and commitment ceremonies. So it appears the movement that once recognized halacha doesn't really do so. Now some Orthodox elements want to reinstitute sacrifices, with or without the Temple. Yet Maimonides himself wrote of sacrifices, like slavery, in transitional terms, that they were necessary or appropriate at the time due to prevailing cultural norms. Now, without Divine sanction, these few are intent on overturning almost 2,000 years of Judaism without sacrifices, irrespective of the consequences. Where is the push within K'lal Ysrael for such a move, even within the Orthodox mainstream?
51. Animal sacrifices
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (03.02.07)
C'mon dont't play vegies guys .... we all dive into "el gaucho" every once in while but seriously GREAT IDEA RABBIS Ynet has always a point to label "radical" "fringe" ect anything and anyone that does not fit its agenda. Be careful
52. #44 abraham - got ya !
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (03.02.07)
GOG = GeOrG (bush) MAGOG = the DEMAGOGe (we wouldn't like to spell the monkey's name -would we?)
53. Hanina, why lie?
SAM ,   USA   (03.02.07)
Why do you lie so much? If you have to lie, re-evaluate your position. You are dead wrong about Jews and the ancient land of Israel. Your lies suggest that you are calling the holy bible a book of lies. You show no respect for God in either Christian, Jewish and even MOSLEM terms. The holy bible definately proves that the Jewish people were there first. Modern archeology backs up these facts. History in general supports the facts that Jerusalem was a JEWISH city, even in Ottoman times. Your lies will only get you a reserved place in hell where you will burn forever. re-evaluate your lies before telling any others. Israel is the land of the children of Israel and not Ishmail. you have your own land. Stop trying to steal back what your ancesters stole to begin with (that was called the Arab conquest) and Hani, that is world history, not Jewiush history. When Jesus Christ the messiah returns to save Israel, where do you think you will stand? think evil woman, think.
54. Re: #48 (Anonymous)
Morris ,   USA   (03.02.07)
Actually, yes, we can. And we did. So sorry... you might want a bandaid for that bleeding heart of yours!
55. The Third Temple
Yisraeli   (03.02.07)
I have no doubt that the Third Temple will be built one day and without any mosques on the mount. The Temple will not just serve Jews but the whole world, gentiles included. However the custodians can only be Jews the people of the covenant. There will be a gentile area allotted too. However I dont see sacrifices being resumed at all. It is no longer in our collective psyche nor have the need for. And Im sure Hashem can make do without 'reach nichoach'. What I see is sacrifices being replaced by angelic voices singing the most beautiful songs and chants accompanied by beautiful instuments and shofars. Our worship will be through songs and praise and not through blood. How come no sacrifices you ask? Because the moshiach will not be like a charedi or wear polish or russian garbs inspite of many thinking just that. And he will institute new order, one of which may be the prohibition of wearing black as chassidim do but rather all white especially on the shabbat as sfaradim do. Moshiach will bring the jew out of the shtetel and galut/shtetel from within the Jew. He will be radical by our current standards but he will be enlightened, heavanly sanctioned and thereby introduce a new path based on the old but not the same as mantained in the galut/diaspora. So sacrifices will be off the agenda. And no longer the 7 wonders of the world but 8 and first will be the Temple in Jerusalem as a beacon to all mankind. May that time come within our lifetime. For this I do pray. And yes it is we that will have to build the temple for Hashem works through us and were not meant to simply hang around do nothing and wait for Hashem to do all the work for us by miracles.
56. TO #48: ISRAEL IS NATION REBORN - NOT UNDOING ANYTHING
andrew ,   miami,fl   (03.02.07)
WE WERE BLOW OFF THE LAND BY THE ROMANS IN 150 AD - NOW THEY'RE (WE'RE) HOME... BUILDING A GREAT NEW SOCIETY WWW.ISRAEL21C.COM EITHER BE APART OF IT - OR BE MOVED ALONG BY IT
57. Religion
Sagi ,   israel   (03.02.07)
is a very serious psychotic condition. This is proof.
58. About the effectiveness of the sacrificial system
Marcel Abel ,   France   (03.02.07)
"Our Rabbis taught that throughout the forty years that Shim'on the Tzaddik served,... the scarlet cloth would become white. From then on it would sometimes become white and sometimes not.... Throughout the last forty years before the Temple was destroyed... the scarlet cloth never turned white." (Yoma 39a-39b) Thus in the days of Shim'on Tzaddik the sacrificial system established by God in the Tanakh was observed, and it was effective. But afterwards Israel's spirituality declined, so that the sacrificial system was effective only sometimes. Finally, after Yeshua's death, forty years before the destruction of the Temple, it was never effective. The Talmud does not say it, but what had become effective for forgiving Israel's sin was the sacrificial death of Yeshua the Messiah." In brief, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
59. Shameful
miki ,   sydney,australia   (03.02.07)
Makes me ashamed of being a Jew. How can any sane person advocate such barbaric behaviour. We Jews spend far too much time dredging up ridiculous heritage from way back -now completely irrelevant
60. From paganism to subhuman
שילוה ,   ישראל   (03.02.07)
The commandment for the sacrifices came for a reason, to stop human sacrifice. People have trouble with change and it has to be done slowly. Abraham took Issac up and had to be stopped from killing him, why, this is all he knew at the time. This is the same today, many still worship and have made an idol out of the Torah, halachah etc and have not been able to open up to a yet further advanced idea that put`s old idea to rest. Unfortunatly we have to suffer a great deal before change can happen. As a dog returns to his vomit so does a fool return to his foolishness. HaShem does not need to `smell` anything. This idea is because man cannot yet comprehend the greatness of haShem and still must put Him with human terms. We are very critical of other groups doing just that ie Christians (This is not an endorsement of that). We unfortunatly like to make our lives difficult by rejecting the prophets, thus too will reject the Mashiakh because he will not fit what the Rambam said. So sad.
