This is another thing I love so much about being here in Israel: not to have to worry about anyone trying to "save" me. I can respect if someone is happy with their faith, and I am happy for them. At least, not according to several secular definitions. JW's: • Acknowledge that at one time the Israelites were God's chosen people. They lost that title when it's religious leaders, on behalf of the Israeli people, denied Christ. This is verified by Jesus own words (Luke 13:35) • Reject birthday celebrations because the only birthday celebrations mentioned in the Bible were those of pagan worshippers who put themselves in direct opposition to God by claiming to be "god on earth." • Do not accept blood transfusions because it's a Biblical command to "abstain from blood." We do, however, accept as many non-blood medical alternatives as can possibly be offered to us. Not accepting one treatment out of a possible 100,000 is good... especially when that one is responsible for blood-borne pathogens like HIV, AIDS, HEP C and other diseases. • We accept ALL government as long as their rules do not go against God's laws. We pay our taxes, we follow legal rules and restrictions and we do so with a smile. Jesus HIMSELF told us to pay our taxes, so we do so joyfully! Jehovah's Witnesses do what they do because they not only BELIEVE in Christ but follow his footsteps closely. Jesus sent his disciples by twos to bring the good news of God's kingdom to the people. We do the same. And we use the name that Jesus used when reading from the scroll of Isaiah (where Jehovah's name in the form of the Tetragrammaton is used twice). I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
