1. Good for Hamas!
Yohanan ,   Sion / Switzerland   (03.10.07)
Aren't the motives and actions of Sharon, Mofaz et. al., which further the interests of Hamas and other islamic radicals, expressions and consequences of the zionist ideology?
2. No secrets
Jim ,   Chicago, USA   (03.10.07)
Of course, Beilin-Peres brought hamas/fatah to Israel. They did it probably to get EU money and the Nobel prize for Peretz. Peres-Beilin wanted a one state in place of Israel. How do I know? Every Arab I met in US told me that. The educated Arabs know more about Israeli left-wing politics and Israeli left than most Jews. They tell it everyone in US universities who wants to listen. They know better than anybody what Peres-Beilin want.

6. Olmert is Brain Dead
Gary A. MD ,   Boston USA   (03.11.07)
As a Physician I can honestly say that Olmert must be brain dead. Sharon in a coma is more capable then Olmert. Get rid of this pathetic bum Israel!!!!
7. By moderate alternative do you mean the FATH TERROR GROUP?!!
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (03.11.07)
Look, I'm all for anybody who wants to bring down Olmert, because who ever follows after him, if it isn't Meretz, will at least add some time to Israel's rapidly moving doomsday clock, time which I hope people like the author of this article will use to COME TO THEIR SENSES. Fatah, founded by Yasser Arafat some time in the early sixties (before the six day war) and later dispersed throughout the Middle East and North Affrica, has one mission as stated in its charter: The destruction of the State of Israel and the return of all its lands to Arab control. It is responsible for hundreds if not thougsands of murders of Jewish civilians, and those murders did not stop with Arafat's death. They are as "moderate" as I am, ladies and gentlemen.
8. Either Israel is Contiguous Land or the Pals are Contiguous

9. I JUST WANT KNOW WHERE THEY DRAGGED HIM UP FROM?
Scott   (03.11.07)
This man must be one of the worst leaders of anything , anywhere. He is way out of his depth in all respects. Just hopeless.
10. Unwittingly, the title says it all
J. Schwartz ,   NYC   (03.11.07)
Yes, Mr Olmert has been very good to the Arabs.
11. We created Khamas
Michael Steiner   (03.11.07)
We are the ones who created Khamas in the first place because we were pursuing myopic, short-term policies. It's the same mentality that today exults at internecine Palestinian fighting. The chickenhawks as well as chickens need to realize that four million Palestinians are not just going to disappear one day (no matter how orgasmic they get at the notion of that happening), cut the crap, and engage in dialog with whomever the Palestinians want to be represented by.
12. Olmert,,,WORKS for Hamas & Hizbollah TOO
malcolm   (03.11.07)
The Ayatollahs couldn't have hand picked a better candidate than THEIR man in the Knesset.

" but Israel need to stop dreaming that it can have peace without jerusalem as a capital of 2 states " Even though their are supporters of Palestinians that support that some on the other hand don't support that. " with settlements all over the small tiny west bank." ..... you think were brain dead? " but a just and a viable peace not a peace were we will continue to be a cheap labors for Israel. " Dose that peace include the supporters of Hamas and why he was elected so that he could destroy israel? ... the word peaeful sure has become much more different then it was before If your government could control terror groups firing rockets(terrorized) Suicide bombers , anti-semitic slogans , expressing the "joy" to die to liberate Palestine(Israel) , and short-cease fires . . . . Not much is going to happen
14. How did Olmert got in office again?
jason ,   usa   (03.11.07)
15. Concessions Don't Work.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.11.07)
No concessions we make will bring us any closer to peace. In fact, they have the opposite effect. The quest for peace at any price will only bring more aggression, more demands, & more terrorism. Has anything worked in the past? Can anyone cite an example of anything that worked either with the Palestinians or with any Arab state for that matter? Is our peace treaty with Egypt really a success? Was Olso a success? Tell me one positive result of Oslo? Was disengagement from Gaza a success? Was our ceasefire in Lebanon a success? Can anyone name one agreement with the Arabs that actually worked? The only agreement that has some positive result was with Jordan and even that is not a rousing success nor is there any reason to believe it's permanent. So what is Mr Arieli talking about? More failed ideas that only decrease our security & make us more vulnerable to attack. You want peace? Only the IDF can bring us peace.
16. #15 how will the IDF bring peace?
Abdullah ,   EuMe   (03.11.07)
17. #16 Abdullah - I meant peace for us.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.11.07)
The basic idea being that in order to achieve our security, we have to make the cost of terrorism unbearably high. The results of terrorism must be perceived as a losing proposition, that as a tactic, it must always result in failure, in harsh consequences. There can be no illusion of "victory" - only total defeat to eliminate the false hope of victory that terrorist groups like Hamas promise. It means eliminating Hamas & Fatah, disarming Gaza totally, closing the border with Egypt, stopping the flow of money that finances terrorism. The Palestinian problem has a military solution, which is why I said the IDF would bring peace.
18. #17 Terry - Peaceful coexistence I hope?
Abdullah ,   EuMe   (03.11.07)
Oddly enough, personally, I think the Palestinians would be better off, without the "illusion" of military victory on their part. And that means all armed Palestinian groups voluntarily putting their weapons permanently and verifiably "beyond use" (as you have in N. Ireland), which would be a completely peaceful process. However this is quite hard at present b'cos of the vested interests on the Palestinian side, which profits (financially) from this conflict. So if the IDF were to forcefully disarm these groups, it would be doing (in the long run) the Palestinians a favor. But in the short term it would be tragic, I think on both sides. However, the story will not end with disarming the Palestinian factions. When they're disarmed then “moderate” voices would be strengthened that demand rights of return (for displaced persons) and compensation for lost property/livelihood and self-determination through "peaceful" mass protests. Demands that a democratic west will find extremely hard to oppose, without undermining their own systems. The "Palestinian problem" would still need to be solved Diplomatically, however, a de-militarized Palestinian population is more likely to have an upper hand in such negotiations due to international pressure. Wouldn’t be better to negotiate now, instead?
