32. Number 2
Libneniyyeh ,   Lebanon   (03.16.07)
You see Terry your biggest mistake was when u said the Palestinians must "drop references to a supposed "right of return" - knowing full well that this is a total non-starter, non-negotiable, & will never be implemented." Why is it that Jews over the world automatically have Israeli citizenship and are allowed to return? No, my friend, the land does not belong only to you, and the millions of Palestinian families that have become refugees over the world will come back home one day inshaAllah.

34. The Pals have no peace to offer.
Elana ,   LA, USA   (03.16.07)
They are asking for Israel to give up and end her existence on her own. The terror gangs must be vanquished. It's something that's got to be done.
35. "Rights and dignity"
Sam ,   Canada   (03.16.07)
The minister talks about the "rights and dignity of the refugees" The Arabs have let their brothers sit in refugee camps for years and years. They are apparently ready to let them sit there for many more years and years and he has the gall to talk about their rights and dignity.
36. PEACE ON ARAB TERMS...MEANS NO PEACE AT ALL
DAVID P ,   SANTA CRUZ, USA   (03.16.07)
37. Palestinians will never have peace...
DR ,   Florida, USA   (03.16.07)
not with Israel, not amongst themselves and not with their neighboring arab countries. Why? Because their cultur is corrupt, their education system is corrupt, their leaders are corrput and basically every aspect of their society is corrput. Their children have no chance at a normal life because they are raised on hate and racism. Their future looks bleek and getting their own state is becoming more and more of a dream than a reality. Poor Palestinians, they never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity!!!
38. right of return

40. UNTIL YOU RECOGNIZE ISRAEL, STOP SAYING RECOGNIZE US
(03.16.07)
41. Here would be my counter offer...
Aaron   (03.16.07)
Want Peace Palestinians? Stop our violence first and foremost. But lets say you do that then here's the rest of the list. 1. Recognize that Israel 2. Stop the Right of Return myth. Most the people you claim are 'palestinians' are people who lived in disputed territory. Guess what, when arabs compensate the Mizrahim (900,000 were expelled from arab countries) then we will seriously consider this right of return. Until then, its the just the deal breaker you continually put in to make sure any 'peace deal' is a non-starter 3. Give back our soliders. Today! 4. Tell the Arab world your fight with Israel is over. 5. Ride with me on a unicorn over the magic rainbow with gumdrops and candy on the other side. Because I think you wouldn't implement one of the reasonable things I have mentioned.
42. pffft....
Mustafa ,   Canada   (03.16.07)
So you occupy, then demand peace? Not only that, you accuse the people who are defending their country and call them 'terrorists'... not wait there's more, you claim to be a democracy when the IDF goes killing people around because they're 'terrorists,' well if you wanna end this whole 'terrorism' thing why don't you just give us our land back?

44. Recognizing Palestinian rights first!
jasmin   (03.16.07)
I always laugh when i hear Israel demanding palestinian gov. to recognize israel. I think that Palestinians have to demande that their rights and existance be recognized from israel in return!!

46. Look at Palestinian society? It scares Israelis.
Shuki   (03.16.07)
Rhetoric aside, look at the actual societal interactions of the Palestinians. Look at the gang warfare, the lack of any fundamental rights (yes I know Israel has lots of discrimination on many fronts, but this is beyond the pale), the valuing of death and violence more than life, the lack of respect for rule of law, the influence of Iran and other external players who don't give a damn about Palestinians and only want strife... Look at what happened in Gaza. How that society is being run. Now ask yourself this. Why would any Israeli in his or her right mind acquiesce to the formalization of any such entity on its borders? Furthermore, why should Israel believe that Palestinians have any peace to offer? Those of you outside Israel, I just ask you -- would you allow this on your national borders? Of course not. Thus the human tragedy goes on... And shall for a long time. It's all quite sad.
47. Arabs occupying Israel's land
Oleg ,   USA   (03.16.07)
Israel should say that it refused to live under occupation not Arabs. Arabs, who called themselves Palestinians (?), You are occupying land of Israel. Leave this land -- go to some Arabic countries and live there in peace.
48. to all of you Palis
Shai ,   Israel   (03.16.07)
Don't you guys finally get it? If "recognizing" Israel were such a trifle, you'd have done it. Over and over again, just the same way that Israel has confirmed the idea of two states living side by side in peace. Israel HAS recognized the rights of Palestinians to a Palestinian state, just not the right of Palestinians to OUR state. What we want you to recognize is not "Israel" per se, but the concept of two states living side by side in peace, with Arabs ruling Arabs in Palestine, and Jews ruling Jews in Israel. Why is this so difficult to understand? The "right of return" was a statement of the UN, a "General Council Resolution" with no legal weight. It's not enforceable, it's a "recommendation", like all GCR's including the one that proposed the acceptance of Israel into the UN. The actual "legal" existance of Israel is from the 1949 Armistice Agreement, to which Arab countries are party. The problem is that since then, the members of the Arab Leauge have invented a Palestinian nationalism distinct from Syrian, Egyptian and Jordanian nationalism as a means to pry Jews from their patrimony. That Jews were able to win these wars is what's surprising, not that those who fought them were displaced, but since then "politics" (war by other means) has been used to disable Israel's ability to hold the land. So, "Pfft" is the way it's going to go, if that's the only way you'll have it. If you had any seichel, though, you'd have accepted a compromise long ago. You have bought into a lie - even though a not significant percentage of all of you trace your roots back hundreds of years to this place, all of you claim not only to be indigenous, but unlike all other refugees you maintain for yourselves a special "refugee status" even though you were never born here. That may be fair for you, but no other refugee population had such dibs on any place before in history. What makes you any more special than the "American Jew" who comes here and becomes a citizen with the Law of Return? Here's what I'd agree to. Any Palestinian who lived here in 1948 can come back and live wherever he wants. If he can convince the current occupants to accept the money he'd get in lieu of returning to his property so be it - otherwise he'll take the money and spend the rest of his life with it, buying wherever he wishes in Israel. All of their children will immigrate to Palestine, or any other place they wish, but not Israel. The boundary between Israel and Palestine will be adjusted so that the "triangle" is in Palestine, together with other borderline Arab cities, and all other cities with large populations of Arabs such as Rahat, Jaffa, Acre, Haifa and Ramla will remain Israeli as will their citizens. The major Israeli populations over the Green Line will be Israeli, such as Kiryat Sefer, Maaleh Adumim, Betar, Gush Etzyon, Ariel and the like. The exchange will be dunam for dunam. All connections between areas that are not contiguous will be by tunnel and bridge, for both sides. All religious sites will be fully accessible and guaranteed by both sides, including Jewish access to the Temple Mount, which will be in International jurisdiction. The Arab neighborhoods of Jerusalem with the exception of the Old City for security reasons will be part of Palestine. You'll never accept this deal because it's not exactly what you want. But I dont' think any reasonable person could claim that as unfair as it is to Jewish claims in the Holy Land, that it is unfair to Palestinians.

You make a very VALID point. Sadly, well reasoned tbs like yours get drowned out.
50. Stop the Arab occupation! Look at the 22 Arab entities!
William ,   USA   (03.16.07)
All brutal, dictatorial, hateful supporting violence and terror. Do you want another Arab state? 22 are not enough?
51. recognize who?
oded   (03.16.07)
99% of the people in the world ,do not know who" palestinians" are-- nomads, recently transpalnted arabs, where do they come from ,and what is their history? no answer to any of these questions."palestinans" are a myth ,a fabrication of a twist in history. recognize who?
52. recognition
(03.16.07)
when you recognize in your charter israel's right to exist, stop firing missiles from your territories, and stop terror, not only in israel, but around the world, we will recognize you!
53. If Palestinians want peace....
Javier ,   Miami, FL   (03.16.07)
They must accept Israel as a Jewish State.
54. #44, Jasmin, what are you laughing about?
JPS ,   Efrat   (03.16.07)
Israel has already recognized the Palestinian Authority and has stated clearly it wants peace with the Palestinians and a two state solution. Good grief, even Ariel Sharon said it. For the Palestinians, the Hamas government has stated clearly that it does not recognize Israel, does not want peace, and does not want a two state solution. Why are you laughing? You should be crying.
55. To 28
Shai ,   Israel   (03.16.07)
The Arab presence in the area of Israel dates back to biblical times. They were referred to as Nabateans and "sons of Ishmael". Anthropologists theorize that Jews from the Egyptian exodus might have seeded populations of Caananites with their ideologies and eventually, essentially Caananites became Jews, too. Palestinians are fond of saying they are Caananites as well but there is very little proof of this and what there is is primarily skewed for political reasons. No anthropologists of renown believe that Palestinians as they are defined now have roots as ancient as they claim. Rather, many trace their beginnings to the last century and few can go back further than the Islamic wars in the 700's CE. That said, Jews were prevalent in the mountains and north of Beer Sheva, all the way into Lebanon to the Litani River, and eastward to Amman, at various times. Jews were exiled primarily to N. Africa and southwest Asia, and eventually after an expulsion of large populations of Jews from Spain, the smaller populations of Jews that lived in Europe were joined by others. It is the descendants of these Jews that are now, together with their brethren from N. Africa and SW Asia, who are returning to Israel during the past century. It is not accurate to call all olim "Europeans "as most of the Jews who live in Israel have not come from Europe, nor have their ancestors. They returned from Africa and Asia. This is a lie propagated by Palestinians, that most of us are European, and that somehow they are indigenous. It's like trying to claim that just because Egyptians call themselves thus, they are descendants of the populations that lived in Egypt at Pharoh's time. There is no continuous tradition that proves this, but rather a recently contrived one and thus it is not to be respected. The Arab presence here in the ME is also not exclusive. Nor is the African presence in Africa exclusive. Arabs share southwest Asia with Persians, the descendants of the Babylonians in Iraq, Pashtuns and others. North Africa is populated by the descendants of Islamic invaders rather than their original black populations, and for example, Jews have lived in Morocco with Berbers longer even than the Arabs have. So, there is nothing un-natural about Jews, even who came via Europe after many generations, being here. Certainly not anything that should be less acceptable than Arabs in Morocco, or Persians in Iran.
56. Want peace Palestinians?
Sam ,   Canada   (03.16.07)
Settle your refugees in your own country. Livni had that part right. Peace to the Palestinians means allowing Jews to stay in the mideast as individuals without trying all the time to kill them. They have yet to accept that there shall be a Jewish-majority country no matter what reality stares them in the face.
57. Damian (on 3 Pal. states), I almost agree
dag ,   Norway   (03.16.07)
I don't really think they want the 3'rd state that you mentions. It seems that their main goal would be to eliminate Israel as a Jewish state, occupy Jerusalem for themselves, and - God forbid- removing the Jews with absolutely all means. THAT IS THE GRAVE FACT
58. Why should anyone recognize entity that calls killing Jews?
David ,   Boston, USA   (03.16.07)
it is absurd for anyone onthis planet to deal with the PA when the Hamas charter calls for killing Jews. PA wants to be talked to, then start behaving as a government instead of murderers.
59. right of return part 2
bill bailey ,   usa   (03.16.07)
If there was a right of return, you're going to tell me that all the Pals are going to move back? Yeah right. I once had a proffesor in school who is a Palestinian living here in the US. I asked him about moving back when there is Pal state, he said he'll continue to visit, but never move to actually live there.
60. The Arab objective is to destroy Israel via the "peace"
