1. FORGET IT.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.18.07)
We would be far better off to invade Gaza and eliminate Hamas & Fatah. Gaza must be disarmed before it becomes a mini-S. Lebanon. Talks, negotiations, this is all a waste of time. The only thing we should recognize is that we are fooling ourselves with day-dreams about "peace". The new Unity Gov't. is just an enemy to defeat. Period.
2. Human Sacrifices still haven’t gone out of style I guess
Saul ,   Eretz Yisreal   (03.18.07)
Since that is exactly what you are doing, giving up your family's blood to have the "honor" of shaking the sword's blade (the PA). Aren’t you proud of delivering their deaths?
3. For a professor, Klein seems pretty nearsighted
JPS ,   Efrat   (03.18.07)
Ok, I'm being polite. Klein appears to be totally blind to the facts. He says "This Palestinian unity government is signaling to Israel that it is prepared to engage in talks." What? Not in the slightest. The PA unity government is trying to pull a fake and get the donor funds flowing again - plain and simple. Haniya and Meshal have both said repeatedly and recently: -no recognition of Israel ever -no peace with Israel ever -no cessation of military activities Klein and the other Geneva peaceniks continue to pull the wool over their own eyes. Don't get me wrong, I want peace like everybody else. However, unlike Klein who seems to not even read YNET, I see and hear the people in power in the PA repeatedly say day after day that they do not want peace with Israel. They also say they need money, and they're clearly taking the simple way to money that doesn't threaten their position - easily fooling those who lust so much for peace they can't see the truth behind the carny huckster.
4. they better not talk
moti ,   rbs   (03.18.07)
how many times do u need to be slapped in the face before u learn?? how many?
5. They indirectly agree? Good we can indirectly talk
Ilan ,   Ariel   (03.18.07)
And this joker can be the talker.
6. leave it to the left...
Natan   (03.18.07)
Are you so naive? Where the hell did the left get us since 1996??? Just like the rest of the leftists, you still believe that the Palestinians crave for peace with Israel. You continue to swallow their lies. I am sick and tired of what the Palestinians say, i see what they do!!!
7. who cares Palestinian UG ?
Atilla Karagözoğlu ,   Istanbul   (03.18.07)
UG means unity goverment. What Palestinian means ?
8. #7 Palestenian Definition
Ya'koob ,   Hebron   (03.19.07)
Palestenian means Justice, Truth, Land, nation, Sacrifies. Blood mixed with the land of our fathers and grandfathers, that have been stolen by force and injustice which keep the peace away from a region and the word. Without returning this land and recoginzing the Palestenian people and their right of their land, there will be no peace.
9. Klein right - must renew talks
(03.19.07)
10. We must have a dialog? Yah right!
Mike ,   USA   (03.19.07)
Whenever war conditions loom, there are always those who call for a dialog with the Devil as though they could buy some time by trading land for peace. Israel has tried this for 40 years to what conclusion. Oh now we can dialog with the new Palestine govenrnment, and the Arabs. Now we will have success. How blind, deaf and dumb can the leaders of Israel be? (Include Bush and Rice). You cannot trade land for peace. You must defend that which you spilled blood for in the past and God will defend you. Trade land and be cursed. Your eyes are darkened. Open them up.
11. Where do Mr. Klein and #8&9 get the nerve to say "must"
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (03.19.07)
Mr. Klein is implying, by saying must this... must that... that we owe the Palestinians something. That somehow we have wronged them and have a debt before them. The fact is that WE OWE THE PALESTINIANS NOTHING. For the past sixty years it has been their national goal to destroy us, and whatever claims they could make against us ary nulified by this fact alone. Beyond that we have been far gentler with them than any other nation in history in our position has been with any nation in history in their position (with the possible exception of Chamberlain's Britain with Germany) and we have tried time and again at th cost of our own lives to make peace with them. We have already given them everything we could afford and several things that we could not. After six decades of non-stop warfare and the attempt and betrayal of Oslo the term "must"" cannot be used in the same sentence with a term that denotes a favorable action on the part of Israel towards the Palestinians.
12. The new Religion
Michael   (03.19.07)
Why must Israel talk to a people who have EXPLICITY stated, a hundred times, they want to destroy Israel? If you look at history, there is only one solution to this problem. I don't like war ,but defeating your enemies is the only choice. Yitzhak Rabin rhetorically asked,With whom do you talk peace? Your Enemies was tis answer. However, I ask with whom do you fight? an Enemy who explicitly says they wants to kill you. The latest estimates report, that 13 tons of ammunitions have been smuggled into Gaza. I know Mr. Klien, its only going to be used for Fireworks to celebrate a peace agreement . yeh right. a peace Process is with enemy who wants to stop fighting. Not with anenemy who uses saladin tactics to defeat their enemies. Seeking peace isn't a religion nor a right. It is a process to achieve a hope all civilzed societies want. To live life to the fullest without having to worry about someone shooting at you.
13. Talk is cheap....
Dr Ahmed Pasha ,   Morocco   (03.19.07)
especially in the Middle East. It is not easy for me to admit it as an Arab Moslem but there is a reason why the vast majority of sephardi/mizrahi Jews can't stand the ultra-leftists' propaganda: their personal traumatic experience of living as an oppressed Jewish minority in Arab and Moslem majority societies.
14. Mr Klein and Geneva proposition
Dan ,   Israel   (03.19.07)
It is ironic that in the very same country (Switzerland) where the first Zionist congress was held with the aim of reestablishing the Jewish state, 100 years later a bunch of left-wing fascists and traitors convene to discuss with our enemies how to dismantle the Jewish state. Mr Klein is welcome to negotiate with the devil himself about his own life but should keep his hands off our eternal Hebrew homeland. And your buddy Mr Beilin, whose relative voted for the Uganda-plan should make his relative proud by gathering all self-hating Jews and transport them to Uganda.
15. Mr Beilin and the Uganda plan
Ilan ,   Israel   (03.19.07)
Mr Klein's friend Mr Beilin has said several times that he regrets that the Zionist organization didn't vote for the Uganda-plan which Beilin's relative of course did. However it is still not to late to rectify past mistakes. Mr Klein and Mr Beilin, gather your flock of self-hating Jews and move to Uganda where you can establish a "homeland" for Jews who are ashamed of being Jews. Make sure you bring with you Uri Avineri, Ilan Pappé etc and the American Jews will contribute with Tony Judt, Norman Finkelstein and Chomsky. I assume that German and Arabic will be the two official languages of this "self-rightous" African-Jewish republic.
16. Muslims think alike
Arthur ,   Israel   (03.19.07)
Whether Iranian, Afghan, Indian, Pakistani, Egyptian, Palestinian, Israeli or from any other country; Muslims think alike, they are never for any other religion. Whether their comrades are right or wrong they always justify their act. It is better they be separated from any other community, or the other community is definitely under threat.
17. #13 Dr Ahmed Pasha (Morocco)
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.19.07)
While the experiences of most Sephardi Jews from Arab countries was less than pleasant, you might as well include the majority of Muslims in Muslim countries as well. They are just as oppressed as we were. The difference was that they were brainwashed into believing we were the enemy - by constant propaganda from the media, the gov't., & religious leaders. Morocco was certainly not as bad as the rest of the Arab countries, at least in recent times, but the rise of Islamic movements within Morocco bode ill for the future. This was my main reason for leaving & coming to Israel. But thanks for the comment - you're absolutely right.
18. Not even the Quartet has accepted......
Isaac Haskiya ,   Roskilde - Denmark   (03.19.07)
...the Palestinian Government as yet. The Left as you call is not the Israeli Government. It doesn´have the mandate to conduct a dialogue with the PA Government. You being a professor in political science should know that only a Government chosen by the people has these powers. I think you are being far too gullible. Why don´t you, PLEASE, shut up?
19. Klein and his colleagues signed away the store to the Arabs
Chanan ,   USA   (03.20.07)
in Geneva, and then insisted that the Israeli government was responsible for all the problems in the region because it hadn't signed such a deal itself.
20. im a palestinian and i say forget it
amir ,   u.s.a   (03.20.07)
this is a joke. those terrorists you kee talking about are a mosquito in front of the israeli armay (the 4th most equipped army in the wrold and most powerful in the middle east). whether hamas changes or not israel will starve the palsetinains because of old grudges with hamas and because they dont have to negotaiate. the palestinians are starving and wasting all theri bullets at each other. peace is immpossibe as you can all see from our 3000 year old lovley history. this is not a war of who wins or looses its a war of who stays until the end. and thankfully for our inability to control breeding and being able to live in the worst conditions im satisfied because again all this politics and fighting is just a tool of pressuring the other population of leaving. but still even when statisics show that the palestinain population will exceed the israeli population in both jerusalem and palestine, israek or whatever you want to call it. the palestinains are getting squashed and raped by the israeli policies. at the end of the day these talks are just a waste of time because they never work, and even if they do this time both sides will not be satisfied and we will be brought back to point zero. its all about who stays their until the end and if there is one thing that i agree with yasser arafat is that the palestinains are larger than life. bomb, surround and cut supplies. we are the people whoo have never to loose and if we have somthing we are atupid enough to sacrifice it for this piece of land so with talks or without talks palestinians will not move out and they are used to those policies since the begging of time. history repeats itself. and if you you think you know history enough make a guess of what is going to happen next.
21. Right on Amir, Arabs have nothing to loose because Arafat.
Chanan ,   USA   (03.20.07)
stole everything from them......their humanity, dignity, honor, freedom, land, life, independence and....their Money!!!!
22. response
amir ,   u.s.a   (03.21.07)
do not put words in my mouth.arafat turned the refugee to a fighter. and just a fighter. he didnt care abot education or anythin else he jst wanted fighters. arafat is made by israel , he came as a response to israel and many others. bt i simply believe he could have done a better job. thats my opinion about arafat so dont py words in my mouth
23. Firing back at ignorance
Chanan ,   USA   (03.21.07)
From time immemorial Arabs have always blamed someone else for their own faults and have never looked in their own backyard to fix their society. In the Arabs' current political mayhem it is no different. This is the root problem that makes the multitude of conflicts in the Middle East unsolvable including the war they wage against the tiny Jewish people.
