1. Humiliation?
Arthur ,   S Francisco   (03.21.07)
Unlike their grandparents did to us - stripping Jews from their earthly posessions, humiliating and gassing them - airport security allowed Germans to get dressed and leave the country.. No barbed wire, no german shepards, no chimneys...Why complain? Stay home if you don't like it..
2. The Dutch do the same all the time
Suzanne   (03.21.07)
with suspected cocaine smugglers from mainly Suriname. There are special detection ports nowadays, though, and I am not sure if the stripping-naked procedure has disappeared.
3. let them for once live the daly life of

4. Irony
Joe ,   Tel Aviv   (03.21.07)
'The German Embassy wrote the Foreign Ministry that ... "we are not willing to accept humiliating treatment, abuse and lack of respect." ' Does the German Embassy really have the moral highground to insist on this to the Jewish State?
5. Were they searching her anus for nukes?
Amazing Israel ,   Amazing Israel   (03.21.07)
6. The Jerman embassy should know
ben   (03.21.07)
the reason behind the pre-screening and post screening of passengers and their luggages. Not an unusual procedure after 9/11. they should blame the TERRORIST. Israel should just join the REgional Anti- Therrorist Team because their experiences is appreciated as one that is very effective in fighting terrorism. The officers at the Ben-Gurion International Airport are doing their JOB WELL !
7. Better Than Getting Blown Up.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.21.07)
It wouldn't be the first time that someone from Europe was involved in a terrorist attempt. If they want to look up my bottom with a flashlight, fine. You do it at the doctor with no problem. Anyway, with all the millions of passengers, they had about 600 complaints, that's really pretty good. I remember going to America many years ago & I was strip-searched for drugs (it was 1970 & I had long hair, coming from Morocco) & I thought it was funny. And, no, I was not high & I had no drugs. But I laughed it off & everything went fine. Our situation is far more serious & imagine the outcry if something DID happen? Everyone would say "why didn't security catch them?" "Security is too lax!"
8. Tania never heard of "booty bombs"?
Yacov ,   Ashkelon   (03.21.07)
Tania never heard of "booty bombs"? Very effective in blowing up airplanes. Just as effective as "shoe bombs" that the U.S. had to deal with.
9. Lessons from Ben Gurion!!
Security personnel   (03.21.07)
This is lesson to get from this airport: Israel is always targeted, terrorists has no work except Israel. Everbody should be sympathic on Israel. No one should critisize its massive killings to palestinians.
10. airport checks
fish ,   t-a   (03.21.07)
hey, this is really a shame for us, the security checks in the airport must not be ad absurdum. Imagine what this 24-year girl felt and what she will tell her friends back home. There're enough Jew- and Israel-haters in the world, why do we need to increase their numbers by such outrageous treatment? There're also security check for Israel-bound flights in German airports, but the German do their job professionally without looking for a bomb in somebody's ass. And it's also not clever of people on this forum to question moral grounds of the German Embassy - their goal is to take care of their citizens and protect them against such treament. You can't say - they don't have a right to be unhappy with us after what they did to us.
11. To Nr. 1
Jane ,   Cuech Republid   (03.21.07)
You stupid i.d.i.o.t - Tania Hisch, it is JEWISH name!!!!!!!! You humiliated German jewess!!!!!!!!!! You are pervers, sick people, completely paranoic a filled od hate to all World - inc. jews, who living out of Israel.
12. #5, No, magnets, like the one found inside the Arab guy.

13. I feel safe
jackie Kunitz ,   USA   (03.21.07)
Is it not strange that I feel safer travelling to Israel than to any other country, despite the security checks at all airports. And I recall my first trip to Israel from Toronto when the El Al ticket agent insisted I unpack my bag after seeing a man helping me repack it after he told me I would not need my winter coat on landing at Ben Gurion. He later apologized to me on the plane saying he was checking on whether the airport personnel were alert. I have never felt humiliated on entering Ben Gurion or leaving it and find the people at security careful of everyone's feelings. Of course, if you are looking to badmouth Israel, you will complain. Maybe these people had something to complain about or maybe they don't think Jews are entitled to security. That seems to be the way their governments are acting
14. #1 and humiliation
Rustum ,   London, UK   (03.21.07)
The only person humiliated here is the poster of #1 by his nonsensical posting. "Unlike their grandparents did to us - stripping Jews from their earthly possessions, humiliating and gassing them." While you talk of historical facts, where you have slid into grovelling vindictiveness and revenge is in your assumption that you know what this German girl's grandparents did. Mass accusations of guilt, mass punishments, hatred that festers down the generations and is directed, by people like you, against innocent creatures - you really do make one very good Zionist. Why don't you carry on and blame all the Arabs for the Nazi atrocities and pogroms in the Pales of Settlement. Lashing out wildly at "goyyim" hardly does you, personally, a service.
15. A lesson from Ben Gurion airport
Lednah ,   Europe   (03.21.07)
A lesson from Ben Gurion airport - let the israelis fight themsevels. And don't go to Israel. If they behave in such way with europeans, guess how they behave with palestinians. I never will support terrorism, but such petty jerks which enjoy their power over innocent people can for me switch my symplaties.
16. unfortunately
Noy ,   Manchester, UK   (03.21.07)
Unfortunately it would always be the case bacause of Israel's aggressive views towards fighting terrorism. So there is nothing new here and Israelis suffer from similar but other things, which made most of them to be reluctantly used to them.
17. Not the security check themselves but interacting with peopl
Yariv ,   Madrid   (03.21.07)
Security checks are mandatory especially in Israel. But the way they do it, and the arrogance they do it with is not mandatory. I was couple of times hazzled with the questions why do I speak hebrew. And they started elevating the tone more and more, and becoming aggresive. There was no need for that. The airport is the first and last impression foreigners get of Israel. The personnel should got courses not only on security matters but also on how to relate to people. I can only imagine palestinians at security checks.
18. There are a few guards who do not know the rules
jason white ,   afula,israel   (03.21.07)
I went to pick up my daughter at B-G last Jan. I was not inside a building, but outside. A guard came up to me and asked to see my i.d. and pistol license.I showed him both and said I was not going inside. The idiot told me I should not have come to the airport with a pistol and leave it home the next time,I told him I was not entering the airport and had no intention of going in. Apparently they take some guards and let them think they canb make up their own laws.Too bad they do not send the guards to a course like we had for school guards and a review of the laws every six months.
19. Rustum loves the word Goyim.Flashlite up would reveal brains
Alan ,   SA   (03.21.07)
20. Security Checks
MR ,   Bahamas   (03.21.07)
While there might be much that can be done to make matters easier for travelers, I think that anyone from Germany should be the last to complain. The last time we ever passed though a German airport, we were brutalized, all our luggage was opened and taken apart. This happened about 20 years ago, way before 9/11. I have not passed though Germany since and have no intentions of going through their so called security system again.
21. Europeans, welcome to Middle East reality!!!
ex-German ,   Gush Etzion   (03.21.07)
Also we Israeli suffer from the overall present security checks on road blocks, malls, busses etc and no one likes them. I agree that for Europeans this is a new and strange feeling. But they should complain at the right address, 90% of the Muslims in the Middle East utterly failed to denounce clearly terrorism in public, and in particular in their Arabic media. By failing to critisize terrorists you indirectly support and encourage terrorists.
22. #18 and pistols
Rustum ,   London, UK   (03.21.07)
So why did you take a pistol with you to BG airport to pick up your daughter? Did you plan to force her home? Threaten her? Kill a few "Pals" on your way to BG airport to make your day? Must be great fun living in the Wild West of Afula and I bet carrying a pistol sure makes you feel like a big man. However, I am consoled by the thought that even you were deemed suspicious by a security goon at the airport. Do you also wear your pistol to the gym? Perhaps it has a few Swarovsky crystals on it and is a good fashion statement on the pistes of Afula.
23. security check
carol ,   eilat   (03.21.07)
lI HAVE LIVED HERE IN ISRAEL FOR TWENTY YEARS WHEN I TRAVEL ALONE I AM ALWAYS STOPPED .WHEN I TRAVEL WITH ALL THE FAMILY I NEVER GET STOPPED ALL PART OF LIVING IN ISRAEL DOESNT BOTHER ME I PREFER TO FLY KNOWING THAT EVERY PASSENGER IS SEARCHED
24. Rustum suffering from pistol envy?
JPS ,   Efrat, Israel   (03.21.07)
Why Rustum, we never knew you were the jealous type! Could it have been that you applied for a pistol permit and were turned down by the UK authorities? Was it because of your 21 profile? And why do many of us carry weapons? Like a neighbor of mine who shot and killed a suicide bomber in the local supermarket a few years back before he took a dozen people with him to paradise. Oh sorry, I forgot. You prefer those macho big-men Palestinians with their big long AK-47s and thick suicide belts, not the Israelis with their little pistols...
25. It is a Body Search, a routine check, one that
ben ,   singapore   (03.21.07)
the officers do at the entry point and exit point in any country.Look all bona fide travellers and tourist are possible smugglers and many illegal items are being smuggled. There are many cases where drugs/cocain being smuggled into the customs territory ( the nation) via the rectum ( annus) packed in condums.Even animals ( pets) are used in these kind of smuggling and drug traffic activities. The officers at Ben Gurion are only doing their job well. The body search is done in the enclosed designated rooms by the proper public officer of the state. Tania Hisch, a 24-year-old medicine student from Germany, the body search of is done by a lady officer So what is the issue ? Germany,United States,Britain and Chile CANNOT exclude that they dont do body search over travellers and tourist who enter their country ! The Airport Officers are doing a GOOD JOB !Their Body Search is with in the RESONABLE CAUSE OF DUTY and Legitimate under the Powers vested by the Parliament of Israel.
26. TO RUSTUM-YES WE WILL NEVER FORGIVE OR FORGET SO IS OUR GOD.
SUSAN ,   ISRAEL   (03.21.07)
27. IDIOT
CAROL ,   EILAT   (03.21.07)
I SUGGEST THAT YOU SHOULD NOT CALL SECURITY IDIOTS THERE ONLY DOING THERE JOBS.WHY TAKE A WEAPON IN THE FIRST PLACE LEAVE IT IN YOUR CAR I WOULD SAY YOUR THE IDIOT NICE SCENE PICK UP YOUR DAUGHTER WITH YOUR GUN ON YOUR WAIST WELCOME TO ISRAEL
28. They're looking for smart bums
(03.21.07)
29. and what lead the security people to take this action?
bob ,   potomac md usa   (03.21.07)
Unless the security people at BG airport are perverts or psychos, they must have had a reasonable motive for such intimate checks of these particular passengers. I don't think that this article is giving us the full story.
30. Similar thing happened to my father in the USA...
rh ,   Ashdod Israel   (03.21.07)
