When our soldiers are kidnapped by similar scum as those that took the British sailors & we go to war in order to try & rescue them,we are branded as " agressors" by all including GREAT Britain! Interesting to see how they deal with their problem!!

3. Is this how the Royal Marines fight?
A number of the British Sailors captured by the Iranians are members of Britain's elite - The Royal Marines. This is a unit that since its inception has been a source of pride to the UK and have excelled in combat and have taken on many "missions impossible" and succeeded, very often with heavy casualties.
Now, a little tin pot maniacal country captures Royal Marines without the Marines fighting their way out! What a bloody disgrace! If Blair and the Beckett Woman had been in government in 1939, all of Europe and the UK would be singing Deutchland Uber Alles today!

4. Response to "is this how the Royal Marines fight?"
David, you're an idiot. There are times when you go down fighting and times, such as this hostage incident, where diplomacy will eventually carry the day and end with no loss of life. Not only would the UK have lost all 15 sailors and Marines if they had fought, but the international ramifications would have been worse.
The Iranians will have to learn that they cannot act like this and be a player on the international scene. They can't support terrorism, deploy agents into Iraq, and then seize Western sailors as revenge for the capture of their terror agents by Western forces. Respect goes both ways and the Iranians have a long way to go before they earn any respect from the West.

7. KIDNAP?
YNET refers to the arrest of the UK sailors as a "kidnap." Is the US detainment of Iranian diplomats and soldiers in Iraq also a kidnapping? Is YNET's journalistic approach fair and even-handed or simply anti-Islamic propaganda?

Americans are very prepared to exact a heavy toll on Iran, it's been along time coming. Smart Americans know that it is Iran behind much of the the terrorism we've experienced over the past 25 years and we are ready for some payback.

12. 7 - terminology - UK not at war with Iran, so not POWs
The seizure of British marines and sailors occurred outside the context of an Iran-UK confrontation of any kind. In contrast, British troops in Iraq are in a defined state of combat against Iraqi insurgents. Thus, in this case, when Iranians PLANNED IN ADVANCE to seize British personnel, who were in Iraqi waters and were in no way threatening Iran, it means Iran had no jurisdiction or legal imperative to do so. Thus, kidnapping is not an inaccurate term for British sailors and captured is not an inaccurate term for insurgents in Iraq

14. This is the problem.
The problem is all the political correct.
You can not fight an enemy you can not see the Arabs have learned this thus the hiding behind woman and children.
We have armies within countries who say they are not our army terrorising the world, Under cover of terrorist names.
Allowing the countries to fund them indirectly with no conseqence.
This is the problem and untill we all face it we are lost.
The next War should spare no one. War is war.

That 6 days earlier they planned to take hostage some soldiers?
What this proves is that Entire countries are to be targets and not just So called terror cells and more.
Time to take the gloves off. We will not allow Terrorists to hide in countries and the countries claiming they have no Ownership.
In War your all a target its time to take the gloves off and hit cities not buildings.

20. The 1979-81 Hostage Crisis during Jimmy Carter's Presidency
Iran has tried this method before.
If the West plays its cards right, this kidnapping could backfire on the Persians.
Let's look back at the hostage crisis during Jimmy Carter's presidency.
On February 14, 1979, about a month after the shah had fled Iran, the US embassy was attacked and briefly occupied, during which several of its personnel were killed or wounded.
On November 4, 1979 the embassy was attacked by a mob of perhaps 3,000, some of whom were armed and who, after a short siege, took 63 American men and women hostage. (An additional three members of the U.S. diplomatic staff were actually seized at the Iranian Foreign Ministry.)
Negotiations produced no results. Neither did an embargo and other sanctions.
On April 24, 1980, a small U.S. task force landed in the desert southeast of Tehran. The operation was bungled. Eight U.S. service members were killed, and their bodies, left behind, were later paraded before Iranian television cameras.
The Carter administration, humiliated by the failed mission and loss of life, expended great energy to have the bodies returned to the United States.
In mid-August, 1980 Iran installed a new government, and the Carter administration immediately sought to extend diplomatic overtures. No results.
On September 22 Iraq invaded Iran. Although the subsequent Iran-Iraq War (1980–90) distracted Iranian officials from hostage negotiations in the short term, the embargo continued to wear away at the Iranian economy and the country's ability to stave off Iraqi forces.
When Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Ali Raja'i visited the UN in October, numerous world leaders made it clear to him that Iran could not expect support in the Iraq conflict as long as it held the U.S. hostages.
The hostages were released on January 20, 1981, minutes after the inauguration of the new U.S. president, Ronald W. Reagan.

22. are the Iranian leaders retarded or just plain stupid?
To quote one of my favorite lines from Forrest Gump to the leaders of Iran "are you retarded or just plain stupid".
President Bush, in his last major speech, already warned the Iranians that any escalation in Iraq by them would result in military action beginning with airstrikes on their nuclear facilities.
Think what you like about President Bush, he doesn't make threats, he makes promises.
The Iranians are either plain stupid or else they want a war.
Then a war they shall have.

23. Mahdi
The idiot, Ahmadinejad, thinks he is destined to bring about the coming of the Mahdi, a figure they believe will bring about their Day of the Standing, an apocolyptic battle between the forces of Islam and non-Muslims. In other words, he's out of his freaking mind. We should have taken military action against these nutjobs as soon as they elected the fool, and now we are paying the price for not doing so. Hopefully the UK forces will be handed back unharmed, but this smacks a bit of Saddam's use of human shields in Gulf War I. This has more to do with the defection of a high ranking Iranian general who is actively spilling the beans concerning Iran's nuke program.
