The opposite of itermixing is not hatred. Arab culture has it's good points and it less good points, no different than Jewish culture. But coexistence is not intermixing or intermarriage. I believe when they talk about being scared of the arabic language its not the actual language the people are afraid of its the individuals speaking in arabic. Irrational or otherwise, that's not a surprising view. Here in the UK similar reactions (to Arab or Muslim) are common. This is not because of racism or anything like that. It is because the MAJORITY (polls support this) of Arabs and Muslims resident here, irrespective of their "nationality", cherish a desire to see all non(Arabs/Muslims) dead. It is difficult to deal equitably with such folk.

The reason why so much emphasis is placed on Israeli racial tension against Arabs is because MORE is expected of Israel having their own sovereign state, and therefore better living conditions, better policing and controls, and so they are then in a better position to provide a -tolerant atmosphere for ALL who are within their country. IF Palestinians had their OWN -stable- and -secure-, non-antagonistic state, the same would be expected of them. It is disappointing to learn that those so gifted as the nation of Israel are would be so cruel or to allow or to not crack down on racism against Palestinians or others. Im sure that they do their best, but more can be done and should be. A similar survey taken in Gaza would likely produce even greater intolerance. But again, who is in a better position to educate their citizens against racism of ANY kind? Israel is capable of MUCH better.
