3. The Evangelicals are closer brothers than Shula Aloni & son
With the leftist enemy demoralizing us and wrecking havoc in our midst, thank goodness we have such great friends from abroad.
Thank you Pitts Evans!

4. It's not Christians that persecuted Jews
It was the Europeans....the Christians of Africa and America, almost all of them had absolutely nothing, at all, to do with the persecutions of the Jews. These evangelicals are the best friends, good people...God bless them.

7. #1 We offer Apologies
If you truly respect Jews and Judaism, will you renounce missionary work that would change Jews to become Xians? Will you abandon church dogma that supposes Jews, having rejected g_d, are damned to everlasting torment as co-inhibitors with Satan in hell? Will you condemn Xian theology that suggest Jewish prayers are futile and unanswered? Will you apologize for your NT branding Pharisees, Orthodox Jews, as hypocrites and worse? Will you utterly denounce those who suggest that Jews are somehow responsible for the pogroms because they purportedly asked for Je*us’ blood to be upon themselves and their children? Will you confirm that Jews are as spiritual and G_d-fearing as yourselves and do not need to convert to Xianity to enter heaven? Will you confirm that the 613 commandments in the Torah are still in force and have not been repealed by G_d, thus making Jewish spirituality vital and not redundant? Will you confirm that Jews can have their sins forgiven without Je*sus? If not, what do you hope to achieve with all your apologies for others when you are no better then they?

Your points are valid though written in an angry tone.
Can any religious group accept the full validity of another? If so, then we have reason to rejoice. If not, consider the implications as we try to build a pluralistic and accepting world.

9. who are Israel's friends?
Biblical Christians (as opposed to Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and so on) pray for Israel, and for the peace of Jerusalem. They aren't powerful, but Israel has friends. When Messiah comes, we'll ask if it is His first visit, or His second.

13. #8 Paul
Paul, Jews do not ask that Xians offer “full validly” of Judaism, just as they don’t fully validate Xianity. Nevertheless, while Judaism considers Xianity a form of idolatry, Jews in no way condemn adherents to eternal damnation. I believe it is true to say that most Jews believe that all righteous people, regardless of religious affiliation, will share in the World to Come. This being said, Jews that convert to other religions will be held to a higher standard and risk their souls. For this reason, Judaism views missionary work against their young and uneducated to be extremely rude at best and will not do the same to others. No, we don’t have to fully validate every other religion, but we don’t have to preach damnation while proffering love. Don’t you think the Jews may be forgiven for thinking it is conditional?

14. #7 ER. - Good points
I'm Jewish and I also wish there was the kind of acceptance you ask for in your comments. However, at this point it's also important to recognize and appreciate the significance and symbolic importance of their gesture. It's a starting point and we can build from there.

15. We welcome you as brothers
In a time when few can distinquish between good and the evil forces of darkness that is gaining strength throughout the world, we welcome your true sincerity and thirst for the G-d of Avraham. As Jews we hope that this 'repentance' includes the rejection of the Christian belief that Jews are in need of the Christian Savior for redemption/Eternal life, rather than the Law given to our nation at Sinai.

17. Don't rejoice too much...
As they saying goes... there is a thin line between love and hate... and the higher one is, the greater the fall... these extreme expressions of 'love' are not natural....the emotions could easily swing the other way....A middle path is much more consistent. Also, getting too comfortable with christians would make transition to 'jews for jesus' much more acceptable - HASS VE HALILA! and unfrotunately, it is already happening now....We don't need to be loved or worshipped - we just need to be left alone to live our lives.

20. #7 Is right up to a point
Abraham was told "By means of you 'seed all nations of the Earth will bless themselves.' As christians we believe this 'seed' that came from Abrahams line was jesus christ. No other Jew has blessed us , in all nations, no other Jew has been given to the national groups as a light and covenant. Jesus christ is the only 'Jew" that has reconcilled us forgave us and inaugerated a new covenant with us with Yahweh. And national groups have prospered and grown and learned for 2,000 or so years whilst the Jewish people have suffered and been persecuted in one place after another. God has allowed this to happen to you for such a long time , why? Moses tells you himself. "They have acted ruinously on their own part. They are not his children, the defect is their own...' and Moses said to you " calamity will be bound to befall you at the close of days, because you will do bad in the eyes of jehovah, so as to offend him with the works of your hands.' So yes the 'curse' spoken by your forefathers had affects on their children. It happened , we have seen it , and those people reponsible will answer for their crimes in the judgement. As far as accepting jesus christ for salvation. The man . Every man who exercises faith in jesus christ does not come into judgement, everyone else does. So people who are not in union with christ [including some Christians] have to face judgement day. But today is not the day of judgement, but the day of salvation. Accept the offer whilst it is open. Like the day of noah there will come a time and the door will be closed.

23. Evangelical Christians and Jews shared persecution
They were persecuted together among other times: in Roman times, during the Spanish Inquisition, WW II. So while these are well-meaning people, and all kinds of rapprochements are positive, they are ignorant of history. It's the non-evangelical (Roman Catholic, high-church Anglican , liberal etc.) non-Bible-oriented Christians who have been the persecutors.
Evangelicals should not be apologising on their behalf, let them apologise themselves.
|
|
24. Odd...
...bedfellows Jews and Evangelicals make. Evangelicals believe that during the rapture that everyone (Jews included) will have to convert to christianity and accept Jesus as their saviour or be damned for eternity.
But hey, what do I care, I'm a Unitarian.

25. The Greatest Scripture in the Bible
Deuteronomy 6:4
Hear, O Israel. The L-RD is our G-D, the L-RD is One. You shall love the L-RD your G-D with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Total allegience to, and love for the One great G-D of the Universe. It is the very essence of Judaism.

26. Dear Americans
I know that your love for Israel is sincere. Please write to your President to stop appeasing the Jihadists and strengthen Israel instead.
There is an excellent opinion column by Caroline Glick on the Jerusalem Post (Our World: Condi's Embrace of Jihadist' Peace) that I advise you to read. It explains how the misguided policies of Clinton and Bush have been so utterly destructive for Israel. Thank you.

27. YOU SHOULD SEE THE CUP HALF FULL.
I think that only God knows or decide who is to be saved & who is not. What is not feasible for us human is feasible for God. You have your belief & I have mine. This difference of beliefs shall not be a reason for us to reject each others & to fight each others but to respect each others belief. I, as a christian respect Judaism, since it was a blessing for the whole world through Jesus. But unfortunatly, many Jews don't respect christians & they call them fallen Jew, they disrespect Jesus and they call him a false prophet or anti-christ. Jesus said, "you should do to others what you expect the others to do to you". Each one of us should start by himself. If we want to keep looking at the past we see every body is prosecuting every body. Jews prosecuting Jews, Jews prosecuting Christians, Christian prosecutians Jews & christians prosecuting christians. Every body must appologize to every body.
We should both forgive & forget.
I can see from your post you seem very angry with christians.
May be you have good reasons. But you should see the positive side of the Christians support to Israel, which is the only solid support that Israel can rely on to exist & to continue. I believe that christians today are fulfilling God's will. They show that when Jesus prayed on the cross asking his father to forgive them because they don't know what they are doing, God is answering his prayer. You should admit my friend that Christianity today is vital for the state of Israel to continue. To me as a Christian, I see the storey of Jesus
resembles that of Joseph, whose brothers reject it him, hated him, threw him in the pit. Yet, he lived and when his brothers needed help, he forgiven them & provided them with all the help they need & saved them.
Shalom.

28. response to #7 and others
As a Jewish believer in Messiah Yeshua, I understand your viewpoints about Christianity. However, I believe that it is hasatan that provokes anti-semitism, the idea of blood libel, etc.
Yeshua himself said "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me" He also said that he did not come to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it. G-d never changes His mind as to the necessity of a blood sacrifice. The animal sacrifice was a foreshadowing of Yeshua's death on the tree. Yochanan said about Yeshua, "behold the lamb of G-d who takes away the sin of the world."

29. The Great Commission
As an evangelical, I just want to add that the evangelical delegation should have to tell the Knesset that we Christians have a mandate from Jesus Christ to share the Gospel to everybody, Jews and Gentiles. Some people mistakenly call it "proselytize." The truth of the matter is that Jesus commanded us to teach the Gospel and make disciples in all nations. God Bless Israel.

30. Christians ask forgiveness from Jews
I am a Christian Zionist in Canada and I can tell you I feel with all my heart that this is just the beginning of a greater unity between Jews and Christians. I feel as well that this is the will of God for the future.
I too would like to ask forgiveness of the Jewish people for the wrongs committed against them over the centuries by us Gentiles and especially by those of us who have carried the cross and the name of Jesus against our Jewish brothers and sisters. Unfortunately I think in the past we have allowed our Christian "spiritual" arrogance to blind us to the fact God wants the Christians to realize we share the same breath of life from God with our Jewish brothers, the breath that gives us a hunger for His heart and His words.
