have you forgotten who started the war? Hezbollah came across the Israeli border and kidnapped Israeli soldiers!
32. Not sharon with brain problems its Olmert
zionist forever   (04.01.07)
He might think Israel won the war but nobody else does even the generals but then again Olmert still claims that the ceacefire has been succesfull. I am sure it has just as long as you were not on the recieving end of one of the 200 rockets. Olmert, Peretz & Livni are all bad news and if they dont go soon there wont be an Israel left to win the next war it will have all been sold to the arabs.
33. No one won. This was was a loss.

All i saw was weapons destroying a nation Cluster bombs and missiles dropping without discrimination All i saw was children being pulled out from the rubble I saw little coffins and a country in struggle I saw the tears of many as they fled from their homes 1 million civillians with no where to go I saw an act of violence that was done without a cause I saw the world in silence, not helping with their pause I saw requests for a ceasfire that continued to be ignored I saw myself crying over my country while in discord I wished to see it finish and i thought perhaps it did Its sad to see it hasn't, the afermath makes me sick The bombs are still exploding, they'll continue everyday Bombs that were dropped in 06 that didn't detonate All i see is the poverty and grief thats left behind I wish it didn't happen i wish you were more kind All i see is dreams of fire before my eyes I am here with tears and you cannot hear my cries Im sorry for your losses and more sorry for mine I wish you could see what was lost for the second time

Your words are very moving and I sympathize with your pain. But please remember that Israel was provoked into that war and that the IDF did what it could to avoid inflicting casualties on civilians, even at the cost of their own lives. But civilians casualties occurred, and that was unavoidable considering that Hizbullah fighters were using civilians as tactical cover, and private homes to stock up weapons and as launching sites for their rockets. Still, Israelis suffered for the children and the innocent victims of both Lebanon and Israel. Israel did not want to go to war. Israel does not want any wars, period. All it wants is to be left alone, to live in peace and to have the aggression and the threats against its land and its people stop once and for all. Right now there are men on your side of the border preparing for yet another assault on Israel. This must not be allowed to happen. Israel does not want Lebanese territory and does not want to take Lebanese lives. Please stop them and don't let them turn your beautiful country and Israel into a war zone. I know it's a lot to ask, but the Lebanese people must do whatever they can to regain control of their country and to prevent another war before it erupts once again.

your country too, is preparing for battle. your prime minister is saying they learnt from the last so they're training your IDF so they know what to do in next one. next time they will really win. they will win our land. they will occupy the south again. It is not my country that provoked the war. There is a reason why the soldiers were taken. but your prime minister turned to war when it not need be a war, just an exchange. maybe they did not tell you in your country but the lebanese children get killed and hurt from the land mines that your country left behind many years ago. we need the map for the rest of them so that the children stop dying. we do not need a war to suffer all we need is what your country leaves behind from after the wars. no one sees the people die, they do not care. they only count the ones that died from that period, not the ones that keep dying days, weeks, months and years later from the land mines and now from the cluster bombs that did not explode. we cannot cry anymore. we do not want to cry. we do not want to be afraid. we do not want to die. you will never understand what it is like to be on our side of the fence with israel as our neighbours. we do not get millions in money and weapons from the US like israel. we do not have planes to do air strikes and fancy bombs. we have missiles and rockets like what they use 50 years ago. we are a small country with a small army. our money gets spent on rebuilding every 10 years or so when it gets destroyed. we will build again and again but we will continue to build not our army but our country not like the rest of the world. one day we will not need a army and we will not need to rebuild, one day there will be peace i hope.

Although I've never been to Lebanon, I still remember pictures of a modern country, secular and successful. Things could have gone very differently. Lebanon and Israel could have been partners in commerce, tourism, and peace. Instead there have been wars and suffering on both sides. And war is never fair to the innocent. Yesterday I watched a news item on TV featuring an Iraqi girl who won a singing competition in Lebanon. The girl and the audience were so happy doing something as normal as singing and enjoying music. Most people just want to live a normal life. Girls want to sing and wear beautiful dresses without being forced to hide behind a veil. The problem is that third parties have used Lebanon to fight their own battles. Palestinians too have been used by those powers for their own purposes. You fear Israeli occupation, but your country is already occupied. Right now Lebanon and Gaza have occupying Muslim forces. Those who want peace in those communities feel helpless to confront those forces. If there is a war, it won't be because innocent people want it but because Iran, Arab governments and sectarian interests are using the Lebanese and Gazans as proxy armies to fight Israel without having their own populations suffer the consequences. And the existence of Israel is just an excuse, a rallying cry for governments that have nothing else to offer to their populations but hatred of the "Other". One wonders what difference would it make to each of those Arab countries' populations were Israel to disappear. The next day there would be map changes but things would continue to be just as bad for them. Or worse, because then they would turn on each other. Israel wants and needs peace but it has to fight back in order to survive. That's why it's always preparing for war. And you must be very aware of how reluctant the Israeli public is to get involved in any war because everybody loses as you so rightly stated it before. Israel's risk is much greater because Lebanon can always rebuild. If Israel loses a war, it loses everything, including the country itself. So all we can do is hope and pray that war is averted. In the meantime, be safe.
