1. typical israeli driver
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (04.13.07)
you would think that being in an airplane would reduce the chances of hitting another vehicle. when an israeli is behind the wheel of ANYTHING, no car is safe.
2. "the plane's engine was hit by the towing vehicle"
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (04.13.07)
That's a funny quote from the El Al Spokesperson considering that nobody was in the car and it was the plane that was moving.

Visit www.wheeltug.gi to see how planes will move around airports from late 2009.
4. The driver of the vehicle...

5. Ynet, please don't misspell the names!
Caroline ,   Israel   (04.13.07)
I guess by "de Gaul" you mean the " Charles de Gaulle Airport. Well, in a country where nobody knows exactly if our prime minister's name is Olmert or Ulmert, apparently the journalists don't need to know how to spell or pronouce foreign names. This morning on the Arutz 10 when one presentator mentioned Sidney Poitier, the other one loudly "corrected" him and proudly insisted that the correct pronounciation was "Foitier"... Well, this is ridiculous but shows the level of general knowledge of our journalists and anchors. Alas...
6. IT WAS A PILOT ERROR!!!
stude ham   (04.13.07)
The French are of course perfectly blameless.... no ifs and buts... El Al will have to compensate France for the damage to those tractors. And Vive La France... one of the most hated countries in the EU! Watch the french press spin on this.
7. "Hit the finger" What finger?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.13.07)
Was it maybe the little finger or the index finger or did they get the finger? Maybe there were doing it by rule of thumb?

RAGUSA   (04.14.07)
We all know all french tractor drivers are antisemitic AND French Railways helped transport jews during ww2 AND France was in the lead durig the Crusades AND France is bordering on Germany AND we all know what the Germans did - eh - AND Germanys neighbour is Poland who is very antisemitic (it's true, I've read it in Talkbacks) AND Poland is connected by the Baltic Sea to Sweden, that has supported the Palestinians for many years AND..... they are coming to take me away - HAHA HOHO HIHI
12. If this is a towing vehicle...I am Benedict XVI !
Hiram ,   Tel Aviv   (04.14.07)
Looks like the explanation associated with the picture is not correct. 1) If the vehicle was towing the airplane, it should not be in front of the # 4 engine. 2) any vehicle fit to tow a B 747 does not look like a simple "tracma" ( a generic name used in CDG for light weight tractors used to tow dollies or ground support equipement. Towing B 747 is often performed by heavy tractors such as "paymover" and if the tractor on the picture is a paymover indeed, I am Pope Benedict XVI ! My own impression is that the towing service and the driver of the towing vehicle did not ascertain that the aircraft silhouette ( Usually a read zone ) was clear of all other vehicles before starting the towing or push back of the airplane. Carelessness in aviation costs $$$ and reputation.....

15. el at ground crash
daniel ,   paris france   (04.14.07)
I was on the plane!! The plan had already long been towed out of the parking slot, and was on it's way for at least one or two hundred meters when the crash occurred. It seems that the vehicle had nothing to do there and that the pilot should have stopped. By definition for el al's representatives, nothing is ever their fault Daniel, who had to stay in paris
