You seem to have a problem with Jews writng pro-Israel (and pro-peace) articles or opinions in Jewish newspapers, notwithstanding the fact that they allow large numbers of pro-Arab opinions including your own This is a site where people around the world express their opinions-pro and con. Get used to it.
32. to all you fools that tell me to learn history
rashid ,   palistinian   (04.18.07)
i dont need to learn your history that was written by the west, i dont need to read book that was written by men, i read my holy book and i get everything from there all the history everything. and i know that according to our book there was no jews in palistine and all arab land is for us muslim believe me and the whole world soon to be under islam you better believe that because i never lied to you before believe me.

You have got one thing correct, and that is the rest of the world should be very wary of Islam. True, it is a powerful religion, but show me a religion who's followers dont think the same.According to your "book" there were no jews in palistine.... what a load of old rubbish, but as you and youre kind lack the luxury of having an open mind all rhyme and reason will fall of deaf ears as usual.
34. # 32 Quit drinking that kool-aid!!!
sj   (04.18.07)
It's gonna come down to this. The last war will be a war between muslims with russia coming against Israel, and will at that time draw all the armies for and against Israel to be engaged in a battle the world has never seen. Now you seem to be a devout hate loving muslim that will not accept anything less than what youv'e been taught. So your holy book says one thing, and mine says another. I've read the back of my book and it says we win and you lose. I read a talkback by somebody named rocky that adressed this very issue with you(I think it was on the site about Iran getting Israeli spies). Anyway I think his talkback just about sums it up right. Soon and very soon, all the hate loving muslims in this world will be no more, and will not even register a blip on the radar screen of memories. Now that's one for the history books.!!!!!!!!!!!!
35. To #21, agree somewhat, plus my theory
ZS ,   USA   (04.18.07)
What you said at the end makes sense, I have a theory why there are different numbers for the 3 big religions: There are about 15 millions Jews because when someone wants to convert to Judaism, the Jews say "Ok, are you SURE you want to do this? It's not a matter to be taken lightly, make sure you want to do this before you do it"..it's basically like "Hey, we are this cool club, and you need to pass these tests to get in." There are 3.5 Billion or so Christians, because Christians actively promote Christianity, much like experienced salesmen (evangelism), they say "Hey, convert to Christianity, its the greatest, you really need to do this to be a good person and go to heaven. C'mon, you know you want to do it! just do it! " And there are 1.5 Billion muslims because they are like "you BETTER convert or ELSE we'll KILL you!".. I know it is not as simple as that, but there seems to be more "if you don't convert to islam, we will convert you by force", or "if you convert to islam, and then you don't believe anymore, that is punishable by death" associated with Islam. As we see, most people respond favorably to good salesmanship compared to coercion. ...just a theory
36. rashid explain this...
alef   (04.18.07)
how do u explain then for example the qumran scrolls from near the dead sea where there were scrolls with hebrew written on it from thousands of years ago? not to mention near rishon they found a 2000 year old pottery with hebrew on it ...not to mention all the jewish artifacts found in jerusalem...not to mentio everhwere u go in israel and palestine u find ancient jewish artifacts...all made up by the west?

C'est Moi ,   Canada   (04.18.07)
This is kind of funny. I smell BS from the beggining of the article. Let the refugees decide for themselves. Thanks to zionism their homes have been stolen...they want them back and they want restitution.
38. #32..Rashid
Nemesis   (04.18.07)
You go ahead and live by your"holy book",but it is only holy to you and your fanatical brothers. You're an ignorant, brainwashed bunch of losers, trained since the cradle to hate, and in the long run, you, all of you,and your hateful religion will disappear into history.
39. concessions
(04.18.07)
these arab countries cemanding the right of return as an israeli concession only want one two things: 1...to get rid of the palestinian trouble makers in their own countries since they may or are already threatening the regimes in those countries like syria, jordan, egypt, saudi arabia, etc... 2....these arab leaders want to ensure that the palestinians going into israel will hasten the israeli annihilation and the speedy killing of as many israeli jews as possible by terrorist attacks from within, easier for them.. they love the quote...next year in jerusalem and let's throw all the israelis into the sea. at least some palestinians living abroad and in more sophisticated surroundings and with more freedom of speech and thought, understand how their brethren have been so miserably used for 60 years by those leaders who pocketed the aid money and got filthy rich by terrorism and perpetuating a severe historical lie and demonizing israel in front of the media and the world. it's about time that same arab leaders understand that no matter what, israel will continue to survive and prosper and they, in turn, will always look across the fences and borders and ask why not us. why not us, should be forwarded as a question to these arab leaders that created the most severe misery to their people the world has ever seen. they are selfish, self interested and profeteers on the back of their citizens. shame, shame, shame!!!!
40. theatre of the absurd!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (04.18.07)
nowhere else in the world is the status of "refugee" inherited! a 26-year-old born in lebanon is no more "palestinian" than his neighbour. it is only the cruelty of the arab states that creates the "palestinian refugee problem" as a weapon in the war against israel. unlike the palestinians, every other group of refugees in the world has managed to integrate into their new surroundings. there are no more "refugee camps" for the jews displaced from arab countries in 1948, or for the hungarians of 1956, and no united nations refugee agency feeding and housing them, 50 years later! and there are no third-generation "refugees", other than the palestinians, claiming a "right of return" to where they were not born and never lived. the root of the problem is the arab intransigence and unwillingness to accept israel's right to exist in peace and security. these "palestinian refugees" (in london) are just waking up to the realization (50 years too late) that they would rather not be used as cannon fodder in the war against israel.
41. #27 you are 100% right!!!
(04.18.07)
if given a choice, no palestinian would wish to return to israel. i can guarantee you that. if given a choice and a free flight with a promise of a good standard of living, most palestinians will leave their abusive arab countries and leaders and will emmigrate to europe or canada and the usa because there, they are guaranteed a better life style and much much more freedom and respect of individuality. can you imagine palestinians rerturning to israel? what will they do? they'll be inferior to the general population, without jobs and israel, like most arab nations will refuse to give them citizenship or jobs or anything they desire. they are good for nothing except terror and mayhem and this is why even countries like jordan, egypt, saudi arabia, uae, and syria and lebanon refuse to incorporate them as citizens in these countries. palestinians and palestine is a tiresome arab invention to get rid of israel amongst them in the middle east. shame!
42. 31 precisely, dear friend, it is you who seem to have
lakshmi ,   U.S.   (04.18.07)
problems getting used to criticisms of your position.Repeat:this is a ploy by Israel and supporters to undermine the Unity Government. Very generous of Canada to offer to take 30,000 refugess. But as 23 put it:,every Jew has a right of return even though hardly anyone returns to Israel.Likewise,Palestinians want that ROR.Whether individuals want to return or not is their decision.
43. # 37
(04.18.07)
Yeah, much like the jews wanted from the egyptians when pharoh held them in slavery for 400 yrs, crossed over into the promised land which today is Israel. Promised to the Jews, and not the phillistines. So why would the Jews want to give it back. They need to kick out the sons of Ishmael from the land that was promised and given to Issac and ALL of HIS decendants. And the Jews should ask for restitiution in the form of monetary means from these decendants of Ishmael.
44. DREAM ON, we will NEVER give up our ROR
Salameh ,   Gaza, Palestine   (04.18.07)
You are pathetic!! by getting few clawns to say nonesense you think you will make 9 million Palestinians give up their sacred right of return?? Dream on !! We will not rest until we go back to our homes, no ROR , no justice NO PEACE
45. 37 agree with you, this article is a piece of rubbish
Adrian U.K.   (04.18.07)
if the Palestinians want to return, let them.As for those dinosaurs who talk about ancient history favouring jewish presence in Palestine, the Ps were there equally long, perhaps even longer.Anyhoo, all that BS is not pertinent. The Palestinians were on the Land when the jews, were wandering about after the 2nd century .The Pals.are never going to give up their land.Re: those threats from the Zionists ,well look at, they got a drubbing last year. They seem to be coming back for more.

Sam ,   Canada   (04.18.07)
Israel is a sovereign country. It gets to choose which immigranrs it will accept or not. Israel has proposed to Palestinians a Palestinian state. It is to the sovereign Palestinian state that Palestinians can exercise their right of return . As to trying to undermine the unity government I don't think anyone thought of that until you put it our minds. Jews would prefer a Palestinian government that would NEGOTIATE peace and Hamas refuses any compromise and promises to destroy Israel so there is no affection for this government.
47. How stupid do you think Israel is- BS in Canada
Sam ,   Canada   (04.18.07)
Do you think that Israel is going to allow in large numbers of people who will outnumber the majority within? Do you think any country will allow this? Do you think Quebec (in Canada) will allow in millions of angflophones so that there is no longer a French majority? Do you think Jews are going to willingly allow in people who hate the idea of a Jewish-majority state?
48. Re #42: For rights one needs citizenship
Steve ,   USA   (04.18.07)
B"H There is no right of return for a refugee since a refugee does not have citizenship rights. A refugee is forced here or there, but has no right or decision to be in any one place. If the Arab states want to enable choice for the Arabs they rule who chose to leave Palestine to live on their lands, they need to mold these people into citizens of the country that then have the priviledge of choice. Otherwise, I see such a move as a forced purge, much like if Israel were to say they would like to expell all the Arabs to outside territory who are not Israeli citizens. No one would except that for Israel. So why should the Arab states get any greater consideration for this sort of approach? One has to consider that the Arabs who left Palestine did so of their choice based on an offer from the states they left towards to take them in. Some Arabs stayed, but other Arabs left to what they saw was a greener pasture. They only had the opportunity to choose during the war, as they were considered utter slaves before and after, bound in camps after especially.
49. to 47
Palestinian refugee   (04.18.07)
This is not a question of allowing new immigrants. There is no comparison between Quebec and Israel because Palestinians belong to this land where they were expelled from it because you wanted to make pure Jewish. We will return and live with you in the same land. We will not expel you like you did to us. There are many examples were multilingual people live together in the same land democratically. You talk as if you have the choice to accept us or not. You don't have that choice you must accept the fact that we have the right to live in our land.
50. #47
C'est Moi ,   Canada   (04.18.07)
Now thats pretty stupid Sam!!! What anglophones going to quebec??? European Khazars came and stole the land in which is Israel now...peoples homes were taken...Just like the nazis stole...the khazars did so too...They have to face responsibility for what they have done. Simple
51. Israel was admitted to the U.N.on condition that it agree to
vijaya   (04.18.07)
ROR.The Israeli rep,Abba Eban gave the assurance that Israel would abide by U.N. Resolution 194 calling for the right of refugees to return. In fact, it was on this basis that Israel was admitted and later on it was on this basis (194 ROR)Israel violated the Fourth Geneva Convention which specifically prohibits transfer of civilians to Occupied Territory. It planned to bring in 1 million Russian Jews. Many of these were settled in the West Bank.
52. 46 not sure what you mean by israel
lakshmi   (04.18.07)
'proposing' to the Palestinians an arrangement.Rightly speaking,as yet, since israel has not obeyed any U.N. resolutions to withdraw from Occupied Territory, the borders of Israel remain undeclared. If it withdraws from Gaza(it still controls airspace, exit, port etc.),West Bank,East J.and Golan Heights, then we are talking. And the Unity Government is quite right on insisting on this.In my opinion, and permit me to express it,Israel as it stands is an illegal state.
53. Quit all this Zionist crap about Isaac and
Mark from NZ   (04.18.07)
Ishmael.I've read the Torah, and in it Abraham had two sons,Ishmael, the older one by Hagar and Isaac the younger son by Sarah. Both are sons of Abraham.Personally I don't go by all this BS and it's time that Zionists stopped using crazy arguments to justify the stealing of Pals' land.

55. Palestinians disavow 'right of return'
J & E Silk ,   Tamarac, USA   (04.18.07)
There is no Palestine. There never was a Palestine. And there never will be a Palestine. World---get over it!
56. Right of return
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (04.18.07)
It is well agreed among Palestinians that right of return refers to Palestinians who want to return. The Israelis negotiating understand that. In other words it refers to admitting a token number of Palestinians back. The real principle is getting Israel to admit it drove the Palestinians out. That's the point to insisting on right of return. Palestinians don't want Israel rewriting history to avoid the facts.
57. 40 Property is inherited including claims for stolen propert
Apartheid ,   Boston USA   (04.18.07)
According to your theory the children of holocaust victims would not be able to claim their parent's stolen property.
58. "Palestinians" have never existed! Back to Arabia Arabs!
Palestiniansareamyth ,   USA   (04.18.07)
There has never been a Palestinian country, people, language or culture. The only right of return these Arabs have is back to Arabia!
59. Palestinian refugee and C'est moi
Sam ,   Canada   (04.18.07)
It's not for me to decide who is going to move into Israel. I just try to convey what I know to be the Israeli and Jewish concensus. I want to do that so that people will have no doubt what reality is even if it doesn't match their dreams. Then we might bring the debate to a quicker close rather than endure more and more killings of Jews and Arabs. There is no way that Israel is going to allow a large or unlimited Palestinian right of return.
