KU (The University of Kansas) wants to do a huge event in memorium of the victims and specifically Librescu's heroic act. Money is not an issue. We Canadians would be very honored to help Israel financially, but Israelis are intelligent and hardworking people and have managed to build the only truly modern, democratic and technologically advanced country in the Middle East . Israelis are doing fine on their own. Israel is not a "welfare" or a backward society. It's not an oil income society either. Israel is an example to the world as it continues to advance economically and culturally in the face of continuous war and terror. Americans provide some help, and Israelis return the favor by purchasing American goods. Canada is a generous country and has provided assistance to many needy nations through the years. Righ now it is spending a lot in its involvement in Afghanistan. Canadians went there to help reconstruct the country, to teach, to give assistance, to lend support. As a way of thanks the Afghans are setting up roadside bombs, killing Canadians and undermining the goodwill we had for those people. Anyway, our PM Stephen Harper, a Conservative, is solidly behind Israel. He's a man of principle and courage.
