Why did he not thank Israel for it's untimely withdrawal from Gaza (before a peace settlement that works) and from Lebanon (twice)? Why did he not "blast" Hezbollah and Hamas and Islamic JIhad for their criminal acts against Israel? Why dwell on the fence construction, when suicide bombers are still prevalent? Asking Israel to compromise everything without any enforcement on the other side, and chance peace, is like saying there is no civil war or insurgency in Iraq. Frankly, Israel should dismiss the Arab moves and start making it's own definite parameters, like no right of return, no dismantling of the fence, and no negotiations with Syria. Also, hows about Iran giving up it's nuclear arms program like yesterday, with no excuses. Again, Israel is wishful thinking by even talking to Abdullah. B"H It is very much the same ballgame with the Arab summit versus the PA. The PA Abbas has Hamas to veto any concessions, and the Arab world has Egypt and Jordan as the Abbas-like role, with the rest of the Arab league there to veto. The game is to get concessions from Israel. But Israel can play this effectively if skilled. The Arab countries need Israel now, and if Israel can work on the plane of purpose instead of immediately getting bogged down in the plane of details, it should help everything crystalize more cleanly. Only Israel can sort out the purpose clearly, and that is Israel's main value-add. If it keeps to its plane, Israel could fare well in the discussion. However, I hope Israel does not stoop below its level and get sunk because of it. Life is full of interesting challenges. We will need to see what this one will produce. So far it has produced Hamas which is not an adequate permanent solution and we would not want the states to get unduley roudy and end up with that Hamas organization at their doorstep on account of miscommunication.
