1. How SICK - Lets compare - "settlers' LOVE Israel while these
Sasha ,   Haifa   (04.24.07)
"leftists" HATE Israel WITH ALL THEIR MIGHT.
2. No change required!
Jonathan Sabbah ,   Montreal, QC   (04.24.07)
Upon viewing these flags, I said to myself let's keep the one we have the way it is. These modern flags look horrible. It looks like a 3rd grader came up with these drawings.
3. We Don't Need New Flag - We Need New Leaders.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (04.24.07)
4. At This Rate, I Prefer The "Palestinian" Flag.
(04.24.07)
5. 3rd grade? You mean a 3 year old.
Uri   (04.24.07)
6. I hardly noticed any flags on the cars these past few days.
David ,   Jerusalem   (04.24.07)
Looks like people don't care much about this Zionist state any more.
7. Artists
David ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.24.07)
A. These are artists? My 2 year old neice can do a better job by just throwing paint on a canvas. B. If these "artists" do not like the land of Israel, let them leave, we do not need them here. C. Why would you ever change the flag? What would the motivation be?
8. Current flag is a symbol of Israel
Julia ,   USA   (04.24.07)
I agree with #3, the flag should stay, its the leaders who should change. All the options presented on this page are a disgrace and show a "liberalism". Why do they need to include all the other symbols on it? Its a JEWISH state and not a gay or Islamic country.
9. What crap!!
Dan ,   USA   (04.24.07)
I don't mind considering a new flag, but please spare us the childish etchings. My 8 year old could have done a better job than these bozos. The flag of a sovereign nation needs to convey dignity, culture, love of country, and respect -- not some political agenda.
10. r u kidding me? omg, get a job
(04.24.07)
11. HATIKVAH AND ISRAELI FLAG MUST BE SAME FOR EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow I am bad, bad, man. VERY BAD.
13. time to make serious changes before its too late
yoni ,   yerushlayim   (04.24.07)
it is time that israel addapted to the current events and upgraded the state of israel to become the state of yehuda. the state of jews where there will be a declaration of independance as well as a constitution that commits us to our jewish principals. enough of this crap from left and antisemites who are just as bad as the arab sector who is fighting our existence. enough of this confusion of am i israeli or jewish. enough is enough the time has come...
14. Israel Flag
Menorah ,   USA   (04.24.07)
Leave the flag as is!
15. IDIOTS
david ,   montreal   (04.24.07)
Today is Yom Ha'Atzmaut, not purim. Let these fools redesign the various flags of the Muslim states with their crescents or of the Christian ones with there crosses--what one Jewish State is too much to ask of the world? Or is it simply the overwhelming shame these self-hating, so-called artists have of ANYTHING Jewish that really drives this?
16. This ain't no rag it's a flag
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.24.07)
This ain't no rag it's a flag Israel white and blue The star and the stripes and when it comes to a fight we can do what we have to do When you look up in the sky and you see the eagle fly you'd better know you're going to hell This ain't no rag it's a flag and it stands for YISRAEL
17. Usual leftist selfhating antizionist crap !
Ezra ,   Canada   (04.24.07)
18. I like Agam's Flag
Ren ,   Philadelphia, USA   (04.24.07)
After All the Menorah is the most ancient symbol of the Jewish people. I also think that changing the flag is not a bad idea. Here in the US, we did it a few times, and lets be honest Israel has had many changes since 1948. There is so much beauty in Israel, why not express it with Agam's flag? Please don't hat this American for inserting his opinions on Israel :) We will always love and support Israel! -Ren
19. Flag: The Next Genration
Eltan ,   New York, USA   (04.24.07)
The Israeli Flag was adapted from the original flag created by Herzl as a Zionist symbol. Therefore it's outragous for someone to even think about changing a flag representing the stripes of the talis and the Magen David which Herzl wisely chose.
20. We love our flag
(04.24.07)
We love our flag, just like it is. We love our national anthem because it expresses the hope of Jewish hearts. We love our country and with expectant hearts, we wait for the fulfillment of all G-d has promised to this Land and this people..
21. SICK, SICK, SICK!!!
Will Blesch ,   Austin, Texas   (04.24.07)
There is NO need to change the Israeli flag. The Shield of David is simple, beautiful and I personally don't give a flying F*&^ that Israel is also home to Arabs calling themselves Palestinians. Israel is a JEWISH Nation. Those Jews who can't deal with that should find themselves some happiness living in one of twenty-two Arab Muslim nations where they don't have to view the JEWISH flag. Oy, this entire article SICKENED me.
22. That flag by Menashe Kadishman
Avi ,   Israel   (04.24.07)
From a distance the yellow birds in the middle looks like someone is doing someone else from behind. Look at it again, it is so funny
23. Yech to all!!!!
Jon   (04.24.07)
24. Is this a joke?
Aaron Michaels ,   New York, NY   (04.24.07)
Many of these remind me of that famous web page with the guy making fun of the elementary school drawings.
25. Only One Serious Alternative
emanon ,   USA   (04.24.07)
Alright, everyone's an art critic. We're all entitled to an opinion. That said, Agam's idea was the only one that was tiemless enough to be considered as a serious alternative. I know this is an editorial piece and has nothing to do with any real chance of a change of flag, but all the others were either too crude (artistically) or too complex to be meaningful. Kadishman's entry is worthy of mention, but is not in the same league as Agam's version. From an artistic stand point, it has wonderful balance. I could easily see it on a flag pole. The symbols were relevant and drew on history as well as religion. Well done, Yaakov Agam!
26. showing the flag
Avraham ,   Jerusalem   (04.24.07)
I don't know where David was looking, but flags seem to be all over the place, including on cars, in Jerusalem.
27. This is ridiculous!
shoshana   (04.24.07)
Perhaps you'd like to add some shades of green and a five-pointed star. Why not draw a dead Jew while you're at it? Israel was created to be and is a Jewish state. The arabs have 22 of their own flags where they draw whatever they want. If you prefer crescents and all that stuff feel free to move.
28. This is retarded
Stephen Shayes ,   Washington, DC   (04.25.07)
no more comments needed
29. Rainbow flag for the sinners in Israel would be
Chaim ,   Ashdod   (04.24.07)
quite appropriate. At least it will keep reminding us the rainbow Gd put out after the Flood and the reason for the Flood.
30. The Flag: Next Generation
Lowell Blackman ,   Ramat Ilan, Israel   (04.25.07)
Just as Hollywood personalities and demi-stars trot the globe to visit poor villages – with their de rigueur paparazzi in tow – sit down for seemingly high level tête-à-têtes with 21st century despots straining to understand them (of course, with the despots' own house paparazzi present), and offer their superficial solutions to complex problems regardless of the fact that these vexing troubles often require a deep understanding of history and culture, we, too have our own home-grown prophets and pundits – in the form of artists. Really, now. Why should any of their political opinions have any worth, any more so than, say, a vegetable stand proprietor in the Carmel Market, a waitress at a chic eatery, or a high school English teacher? Are they deeper thinkers? Are they secret political scientists? Are they fallen historians? Would anyone on the streets of New York or Stockholm or Paris or Delhi or Riyadh be asked to re-design their nation's flag and would they come up with such sanctimonious, self-righteous, and smug commentaries and designs as these artists have? Do they really take themselves so seriously that they actually offer changes to our flag draped in ludicrous mumbo-jumbo pseudo-philosophy as if the number of words one uses to describe some piece of art is supposed to be directly proportional to its value as a work of art? Do they have no sense of past? When Uri Lifshitz, for example, claims that "… I have no memory. I do not remember anything and only deal with what will be tomorrow and not with what was yesterday," I hear some very cheap cop-out and sophomoric excuse for not understanding that any culture anyplace in the world – and any art and any art form, for that matter – must be rooted in something in the past. To aver otherwise is shallow and fleeting and does not at all deserve the recognition as something important that you have gratuitously granted him – and the others.
