1. Peace,,, yes...
The Raccoon   (04.22.07)
We owe the fallen peace. The only kind of peace possible in the ME - the peace of the desert, with your enemies ground to dust or driven far away. Until we accept that, war will be a constant part of our existence.
2. Security is greatest goal, not peace.
Bernard Ross ,   st. anns bay,jamaica   (04.22.07)
Olmert should stop platititudes of peace and think about Israel's security. Peace brings death to the jews and peace for the others. Olmert should be more concerned about the danger his party has wrought on the security of Israel. Up until the Jews of Germany were marked by the Nazi's they enjoyed more peace and freedom in Germany than the rest of Europe and russia.

Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (04.22.07)
NOT by giving them anything of ours, but by TAKING what is ours and stating once and for all that if they even HINT at opposing it, they will be destroyed. ------- Resolution occurs when one party realizes it can no longer pursue its aims, and gives them up. This usually follows its unambiguous vanquishment, either via a military collapse (as in World War II) or internal rot (as in the Cold War). "In every case I can think of," writes strategist Michael Ledeen, "peace has come about at the end of a war in which there was a winner and a loser. The winner imposed terms on the loser, and those terms were called 'peace.'" ...Diplomacy rarely ends conflicts. Hardly a single major international conflict has been concluded due to someone's clever schema. The idea that a "peace process" can take the place of the dirty work of war is a conceit. Again, to quote Ledeen, "Peace cannot be accomplished simply because some visiting envoy, with or without an advanced degree in negotiating from the Harvard Business School, sits everyone down around a table so they can all reason together." ...History teaches that what appears to be endless carnage does come to an end when one side gives up... http://www.danielpipes.org/article/136

the kidnapped soldiers. That is why they went to war in the first place. Have you forgotten? We owe to the fallen of this last war a Prime Minister and Defense Minister that is suited for their positions.

@Yishai Kohen: this is all right wing stuff you're talking and Daniël Pipes is a leading conservative. You live in Judea & Samaria which you probably want for yourself, like the local Arabs claim it for themselves. The Torah and Neve'im we Kotevim tells of battles but also of Shalom. This balance seems lost on you, you only focus on bloodletting and force of power. A bit selective, even for 'am sekulah'. Israëlis in general have other priorities, in case you missed the mood on the ground.
11. The peace Olmert dreams of is a Nobel Peace Prize ...
Observer ,   Europe   (04.22.07)
While security is more important than peace for the Israeli population, approval from gentiles - marked by a Nobel Peace Prize - is what the selfish Olmert yearns for.
12. Peace: the lion will lay down with the lamb
Ilan ,   Ariel   (04.22.07)
But let's be the lion just in case.
13. Our Duty To The Fallen Is To Win.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (04.22.07)
And not to lose what they died for in some game of "Let's Make A Deal".

are filthy draft dodgers? His daughter demonstrating outside the chief of staff's house calling him a "murderer" and calling for a p.l.o.victory? Shut up olmert! you let the nation down last summer and you will keep on trying to destroy us. you even appointed that ass peretz as min.of def.
15. Our Duty To The Fallen
David ,   Israel   (04.23.07)
Our duty is to maintain and defend what they fought for - the State of Israel. Peace on the terms they paid for - our terms.
16. Internal peace needed- repaired
H.H.Mendelsohn ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.23.07)
Hod Hasharon fallen soldiers were officially politicized on memorial day. Shame upon Hod Hasharon local council decision to prevent reform Rabbi Micky Boyden of participating in the National Day of Mourning’s official prayer ceremony for its fallen soldiers. As reported the council reached this decision after a threat of its orthodox members to disrupt this ceremony. No excuse can be found for such a threat nor for Hod Hasharon council decision and even less understandable the inaction of Yad Lebanim, the National Authority to guard these graves, to prevent such a horrible differentiation. - Rabbi Boyden is the father of soldier Jonathan Boyden who buried in this cemetery since 1993 when he was killed in Lebanon. National government has to step in to undo this inhuman decision of Hod Hasharon local council because it soils the memory of all fallen Israel’s soldiers.
