31. Kashrus Certificate for clothes
Barry ,   Tel Aviv   (05.01.07)
My wife brought this article to my attention, and all she said was - :It's about time!" Those of you who are making your ill-thought and ignorant talkbacks could care less what the Haredim do. So why do you care? You won't buy in a store with a hechsher for the clothes? Did you ever buy in these stores? I doubt it. You do not realize that the Torah touches all aspect of life; you just choose to ignore it. And as for the morons who ask why the rabbis do not deal with other issues that are "more" important, let me ask this: Do you know that they do not deal with other issues? Just because the secular press does not talk about the millions of shekels collected from supporters of Torah to provide school lunches to impoverished children (religious and secular), the thousands of dollars raised for an operation in Europe for a non-observant six year old girl when the health fund refused, does not mean that they did not occur. Yediot Acharonot (aka Idiot Acharon) does a great service in hiding the truth from the secular public. I commend them for their efforts in creating bigger and bigger schisms in Israeli Society.
32. Thank you Barry
Shalom   (05.01.07)
I'm amazed this got through the censors. You have summed up Yediot Acharonot in one final paragraph. Now let's see if I get through the censors.
33. Definitely needed
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (05.01.07)
I've worked with religious women who were dressed far less modestly than secular women. Some of them were really pushing the envelope. It made me think of the line about obeying the letter of the law, but not the spirit of the law.
34. #15 Your point being?
Eshet Chayil   (05.01.07)
Who on earth stops anyone from dressing modestly? I dress modestly. I don't care if you do. Why on earth would modestly dressed women need an evening on 'dressing modestly'. Give us a break, yentas. I think YOU are the ones with the problem as YOU LOT resent having to dress modestly and need to pat yourselves on the back occasionally. Yakkity yak.
35. Would some lady who is experienced in decadent clothing
Hannah   (05.01.07)
PLEASE tell me where all these shocking clothes are. The stores I go into in Bnai Brak sell lovely modest outfits. Maybe these 'ladies' are looking for the 'naughty' stuff? As with everything, depends what you're looking for, where you go, and who's doing the looking. This smacks of a few of the usual intimidating guys with a new twist on how to make a lotta' bucks. "'It's about time????" Don't make me laugh, unless you're in on the scam too? ANY stores that do stock these invisible dubious clothes won't want the stupid hechsher anyway...They'll get smashed in and burnt though, if they do exist. That's a real Kiddush H', for the holy crowd and their even holier (and maybe not very good looking and quite overweight) wives to gloat over. THAT may be the crux of the problem. The green eyed monster.... There are different degrees of observance in all mitsvot, you drippy lot. Stick to your own, no one wants to hear from you anyway. Sour grapes, with a hechsher of course.
36. Shalom Barry
Chayke   (05.01.07)
Don't read what's not kosher enough for you. Don't correspond with people who are not kosher enough for you. Tell wifey not to wear what isn't kosher enough for her. She needs a certificate to tell her THAT??? Barry Shalom
37. #33 Wow aren't we gullible today!
Naomi ,   TA   (05.01.07)
and these pushing the envelope types are from now on, only going to buy in places selling glatt mehadrin badatz clothes? Gimme a break! It's a publicity spin for a self interested group of crafty people. Emperor's New Badatz Clothes anyone?
38. My Dear Eshet Chayil:
Shayna   (05.01.07)
We all need to pat ourselves on the back occasionally. We are all human, and there is a huge, decadent world out there. It takes a lot of spiritual strength to dress according to halakhah - not figure hugging; covering elbows, knees etc. The shops are so full of tight, border-line clothing that sometimes after hours of searching for something suitable and not finding it, yes, it can be hard to go home empty handed
39. This all reminds me
Sheilah   (05.01.07)
of the different ludicrous degrees of hair covering these days. How about these baseball caps etc sometimes over the sheitel ha ha? And the shoes some of these 'chareidi' ladies run around in... Manilo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo with a hechsher too? The 'chareidi' magazines make a fortune out of advertising all this gear. Why does "Naval Birshut Hatorah" come to mind?
40. #38 Dear Shayna
Eshet Chayil   (05.01.07)
I am an ordinary lady, delighted with what I think, are my modest clothes. I find loads of them. I can't possibIy afford to buy it all. I see some of the awful stuff being worn, and am so relieved that I don't belong in a circle, where that is the standard of dress. A smart white three quarter sleeved blouse and a smart well- cut below the knee black skirt, with different accessories, is, to my mind, the ultimate outfit ( ask Caroline Herrera) and all the rest is variations of this one tried and tested theme. We seem to however, move in different worlds. I would never ever need to go to an evening of 'dignified dressing', unless that's the latest phrase for a fashion show? In that case, please keep me a ticket, but no mussar droshos thanks.
41. Dear Eshet Chayil
Shayna   (05.01.07)
I think you are totally right and I applaud your taste. This "evening" was actually a video of shiurim by Rabbi Yissachar Frand, Rav Shmuel Kaminetsky and others to give chizuk to those who are in our circles but prone to the yatzer hara.
42. More Kosher Clothes
Abe ,   N.Y., New york   (05.01.07)
I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF ALL THIS KOSHER CLOTHES SHTOOS. I'M OFF TO WATCH ANOTHER RERUN OF "MY SON THE SHVITZER" ON THE HAREDI CHANNEL. TODAY'S EPISODE: NACHMAN MENDEL BECOMES DEPRESSED WHEN HE DISCOVERS THAT THE SHEET WITH THE HOLE THAT HE USED ON MITZVA NIGHT WAS SHATNEZ.

We all know and appreciate the Chesed done by the Orthodox and haredi people . It's probably their only contribution to the state . But are'nt there oher problems to look onto ? For example what is done for the Agunot ? Do'nt those Rabbi think that Religious , Orthodox or Charidi women know what kind of clothes they can [ or can't ] wear ? Look only at tb # 1 , she said it is needed , but knew very well what not to buy . And seculars also contribute to those great "chesed" organisations , maybe more than the religious . But , i do not forget that they were created and are run by religious , Kol Hakavod to them .
44. Hoars from money and power
Josh   (05.02.07)
The Haredeem already have a system for scandalously dressed women, throwing tomatoes. It is ironic that the Rabbis who dress like pagan Christian noblemen, and wear kippas they made as Torah mitzvot, are making further additions to Torah rules on proper dress but are setting themselves up as middle men who can profit. Ezikiel 13:18 Woe to those who attach bind cushions near all armpits (note not on the yad) and make head covers for the head of anyone who stands erect. Would you trap the souls of my people? Which is more cursed in Torah, men who follow the traditions of pagans, mislead the nation of Israel and use the magic of Babylon (identical items as Christian Gnostic), or daughters who dress in something other than a full body covering outfit? One-G-d one love Return to Moses and return to the in context reading of the pashoot. Na Nah nacho voodo.
45. What about kosher air?
Jack ,   Milwaukee, USA   (05.02.07)
We can't just share our air with those shameless hussies and other blasphemers, can we? That's why the venerable Rav and his court should lock themselves up in an airconditioned room and never, ever get out again.
