2. A Comedy: Better article than JP / Haaretz
semsem ,   New York, USA   (05.06.07)
JP and Haaretz had the same story but the way this article in Ynet was written, it was hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.
3. #1 Of course this is news!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (05.06.07)
Yes, Jews live in Iran; but Ahmadinejad has said he wants to wipe Israel off the map!! By being on a Turkish plane it was as if he were on Turkish soil - and a protected person. If the Iranians had tried to take him this would have caused a grave crisis! I heard that they gave him a clock. Tick tock tick tock!! A wooden box??? Mmmm.
4. No but thanks. I dont want to visit your Jersulam because
Observer ,   Iran   (05.06.07)
Your country Israel is sticking its nose in my country >>>> Israel wants to destroy our nuclear facilities. Dear Israeli passenger: Respect is a 2- way road.
5. Too cheap to fly EL AL?
Stewart ,   USA   (05.06.07)
I'll be going to Israel and India in a few years and there is no way I will do it without flying EL AL in and out of either country. (No disrespect to the Turkish airlines or Air India.)
6. pessimistic 10,000,000 $
majid ,   tehran iran   (05.06.07)
Hey come on should it be always bad news about Iran. Be realistic after all we are all living on the same EARTH
7. Stupid Article. Not News.
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.06.07)
8. Nothing against the Iranian people
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (05.06.07)
We know the Iranian people are suffering under this regime. What will enable them to rise up against their government???
9. Unsettling
John Cunningham ,   Haverford, PA, US   (05.06.07)
#6, hey, you never know. That's the way terrorists operate.
10. #3 Your "Wipe of Map" Comment
Peter Morris ,   New Zealand   (05.06.07)
Take note of the following... .....four different translations, from professors to the BBC to the New York Times and even pro-Israel news outlets, in none of those translations is the word "map" used. The closest translation to what the Iranian President actually said is, "The regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time," or a narrow relative thereof. In no version is the word "map" used or a context of mass genocide or hostile military action even hinted at.
11. From Iran with love
Talula ,   Israel   (05.06.07)
How desperately sad that we Israelis need to live this way. Airplanes do malfunction and they do get diverted and NOT to a country of our choosing either, just because we happen to be the only Israeli on board. I respect the Iranians for the way they treated Benny. However, I still think we should bomb their nuclear plant.
12. #10 - Peter Morris wrote
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (05.06.07)
Iranian President actually said is, "The regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time," Morris also said that because the word 'map' was never used, there is no hint of genocide or military action. Tell me, Mr. Morris, doesn't the word 'vanish' say that Achmadjinedad wants us to disappear??? I'm sure he doesn't mean we should all buy tickets and voluntarily leave!!
13. 10 Peter Morris
Jackiekc ,   Florida   (05.06.07)
Do you really trust the BBC coverage of the Middle East? As far as they were concerned, the only areas hit during the latest war were in Lebanon. BBC completely ignored the Katushas that rained upon the northern reaches of Israel, including Haifa. I was in Israel last fall and saw the damages. A more biased news source I have never known.
14. Thinking small
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.06.07)
Iran has much bigger plans than just one Benny. Since the plan is well under way and going well ,they can afford to be nice to one infidel. Israel's enemies know how to lull them to sleep before the slaughter. The slightest propaganda is swallowed whole by Jews who assume Islam really wants peace with them. Better wake up ,sheep quietly headed for slaughter.
15. to Peter Morris #10
Arn ,   Tel-Aviv   (05.06.07)
Oh... so he didn't say to remove us from the map - just from the pages of time. That makes it a whole lot better. Hey... Isn't that like saying you personally aren't an anti-semite but that you just don't like Jews? Careful Mr. Morris, your cultural heritage is showing.
16. Air Passenger from Israel lands in Iran
Roxy ,   Israel   (05.06.07)
People aren't you aware of the Geneva Convention regarding Safety of Air passengers? The Law states that any plane in distress can land in any signatories country in a declared emergency and expect help, and the safety of all passengers is guaranteed under the convention. So Iran if they had violated that treaty and seized the Israeli,it would have been in violation of said treaty and would have been opened for attack by Israel or the US. so they were protecting themselves as well,by treating the Israeli well.
17. Must have been.........
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (05.06.07)
........crapping himself, poor guy - and twice too! Don't fly Turkish!
18. NO NEW NEWS FOR US
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (05.06.07)
This type of news has no place in the press at all. However, this Israeli citizen was definitely carrying a wild impression of Iran and its people(no wonder he requested the pilot to be seated in the cocpit) and will obviously carry a positive note back in Tele Aviv. Some more happy landings in Tehran.
19. THANKS TO GOOD IRANIANS
LEVI ,   LOD-ISRAEL   (05.06.07)
ITS NICE TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WITH GOOD HEART IN IRAN,AND NOT ALL IRANIAN'S ARE EVIL LIKE THEIR LEADERS.
20. #18
(05.06.07)
What stone did you crawl out from under? Iran make their feelings towards Israel very well known, at every single opportunity. Namely, to wipe us out of existence. I'm sure you would also not feel comfortable landing in such a hostile place either.
21. #16
(05.06.07)
Iran has also been forbidden from developing nuclear weapons by the UN, but it doesn't seem to have stopped them. Iran don't care about International Law or the safe passage of air passengers. Look what they did to those British sailors. Wise up girl!
22. What???
joe   (05.06.07)
This israeli has NOT been abused? NOT been interrogated? NOT tortured? NOT mistreated? TYPICAL iranian behaviour!!!!! This "tarrrrorists" not only threaten the entire globe by building nuclear reactors, not only they wove to hit back at two countries (a large one and a small one, hungry after oil)) if they are attacked by them, the top of their effrontery: This "tarrrrorists" act and behave CONTRARY to the carefully built-up image of the mainstreammedia! TERRRORISTS!!!
23. To Observer #4. If Respect Is LACKING Somewhere.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (05.06.07)
You write :"... Israel wants to destroy our nuclear facilities". THIS statement bleaks in comparison to the quite-a-few-times made statement by Ahmadinejad ' to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth'. WE want to destroy 2 Iranian factories -- I think, you will not mind us doing that, in light of the above statement of Ahmadinejad. THAT'S WHY, us destroying 2 Iranian nuclear facilities should not bar you from visiting Jerusalem. You write :"Respect is a 2-way road." Ahmadinejad wanting to wipe Israel off the face of the Earth -- shows he has NO respect AT ALL for Israel and its People. SO, if respect is LACKING somewhere -- it is NOT on the Israeli side -- it IS on the Iranian side. SO, you should make him, i.e. Ahmadinejad, civilized first. Otherwise, he will NEVER understand what respect means.
24. To Peter Morris #10. Do NOT Bury Your Head In The Sand.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (05.06.07)
THE statement by Ahmadinejad where he called that Israel should be "wiped off the map" -- dates back from October 27th, 2005 and he continued to proclaim that till December 15th, 2006. You should know that the Ayatollahs (not all, but some) of Iran HAVE been proclaiming that since their rise to power -- from 1980 and onwards. Peter, you are trying to HIDE under the carpet his actual statement. Do NOT do that. THAT is dishonest. Do NOT bury your head in the sand regarding the intentions of those MALICIOUS Ayatollahs of Iran.
25. BAD IRANIAN LEADERS?#19
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (05.06.07)
There are no good or bad Iranian leaders,Levi.Just as your leaders are being looked at,so is the case in Iran. They are against Zionism, not the JEWS.Be absolutely clear about it.Media has overtaken by virtue of propoganda and succeeded so far.Be very clear about it
26. NAMELESS....................................#20
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (05.06.07)
You seem to be reading and believing in only what you feel like doing so.It serves no purpose.Whoever you are, read, read what the Iranians are and you would be surprised at your own present attitude.
27. to #26
Dave ,   n.y.   (05.06.07)
so far it looks like the one that needs to do more reading is - you! you are obviously nothing but clue less, about this subject, and also, it is spelled: "Tel Aviv", as i said before, you need to read ,read and read some more buddy......
28. To 11 and 12
Tom Haag ,   California, Ca   (05.07.07)
11. What do you think about Iran bombing the "Israeli" nuclear facilities? They are older you know :) As USA, Pakistan, and many other countries are allowed to have nuclear facilitis, it must be the same for Iran. Equality, you know. 12. Sure he prefers "voluntarily" for the people. However, the gvmt and president are something else since they are too stubborn to do something that sensibel. However, many are leaving indeed, especially professional doctors who are having to work as housekeepers in "Israel" :)
29. to # 12
Patricia ,   NY   (05.07.07)
I can't believe how there is still one Israeli who wants to stay in Israel. I mean come on, all this mess, all this neglect, and the last defeat we got. every second I spent in Israel was like death. or even death would have been better. Fear all the time, insecurity, and then this stupid war. and what did we accomplish there? nothing. the kidnaped soldiers are still with hizbollah, and they still have long range tockets ready, and we had all this death among our civilians and soldiers, add to it also the psychological crisis. I am thankful I am still alive. And if there is something I learned in my last visit to Israel, it is that either God promised us something really bad, or that this Israel is not what God promised us. I prefer the second interpretation.
30. What's wrong with informing the world that...
Calvin Wei ,   Dong Guan, China   (05.07.07)
What's wrong with telling the world that even with rivaling politics and tensions, the natural people can have positive interaction? Can we light up on this issue, please? There are other things besides politics and religion. If a person slaps another on the face, he/she will feel the pain regardless of religion. Think about that?
